“Be Like Jameis”

Media mob scene surrounds America’s Quarterback earlier this afternoon after practice at One Buc Palace.

Yes, you have heard Vincent Jackson and Kenny Bell and many other offensive players rave about America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston. But how about another defender?

Earlier today, Joe brought word from middle linebacker Kwon Alexander that Jameis helped him with his defensive playbook. Well, today, cornerback Johnthan Banks went over the top in his praise of Jameis.

Banks, in no uncertain terms, expects Jameis to have his bust in Canton some day.

“Jameis, he is going to be one of those Peyton Manning-type guys,” Banks said. “You can see by his body [transformation] this guy takes football serious. When you have a guy like Jameis leading your team, I mean, that makes everybody want to be like Jameis.

“Just being honest. I know he is a second-year quarterback, but this guy was fat last year. He came back looking like a DB. Jameis, you can tell he worked his tail off.

“He has got everybody excited. You could just see him out here yesterday how much confident he is, even in walks-throughs. Making checks, making huddles, getting guys in place. It is awesome, man.”

So naturally, when Jameis later had his stand-up in the blaring sun with the local pen and mic club, Jameis was asked what, besides his newly-sculpted body, is different?

Not a whole lot, Jameis said, just his old self mixed in with observing how Russell Wilson and Teddy Bridgewater went about their work at the Pro Bowl in January.

“I have always been a competitor,” Jameis said. “I always knew that being a great preparer [sic] will lead you to having some success. Mentally, I have always been pretty good at that. I knew that I put in the work. The way that I carry myself. The way that you have to carry yourself as a quarterback.

“Russell Wilsonn and Teddy Bridgewater, they are two winning quarterbacks. You can just see how they talk to the guys and how they do things. That was very good for me to see.”

Banks might want to patent that phrase he used: “Be like Jameis.” Someone could make some cash with that.

Funny how Banks knows it’s safe to call first-year Jameis fat now that second-year Jameis is no longer fat. Last year he would’ve never come within a country mile of implying it. But we all knew. Those big-belly photos weren’t lying…dude was hitting the pancakes way too hard.

But I thought Jameis was supposed to be a problem?😂

  3. CrustyCrab Says:

Micheal Jordan and Gatorade have that phrase on lock.

Please don’t be like Teddy Checkdown in Minnesota

That team wins in spite of him

Howard is inspired to work harder and smarter by just reading this post.

Can’t wait for the draft. Howard is so excited he may have peed a little just now.

Winston’s star will continue to rise as will the fortunes of this franchise.

If I could be like Jameis – I wanna be, I wanna be like Jameis…..

#3 gets it. He’s going to be a major star!

He’s always been able to get by on his raw talent. This is why he came to camp soft last year. He could still fling it and his running skills were not THAT diminished. But last year he realized he has reached the ultimate competition with other great players and he needed to ratchet it up.

Good on him for two reasons! First for figuring it out, second for putting in the work to git er done.

    BTW
    Howard that was funny!!!!

This is why it would be nice to have a positive role model in that QB room with Jameis. Clearly Glennon’s preparations and attitude aren’t worth recognizing. Otherwise Jameis wouldn’t be looking at wilson and bridgewater for advice and learning from them. Glennon is not worth a roster spot. Trade for a 7th if you can. Nothing is better than glennon. We need that saavy veteran like a matt hasselback or Kurt Warner to help get winston ready for being a top teir QB. Someone to mentor him how to take care of his body off the field, and give him help on the field too. Glennon is merely a blocking dummy in the room next to Jameis. Glennon has no winning experience and has done jack spit in the NFL. Find us a veteran back up QB, Mr. Licht. And dump glennon for peanuts if you have to.

    @TruBucfan

Do you know how much those losers you just listed cost?

#3 does NOT need any other freaking QB in the room to help with leadership.
He’s in his second year and already has that part down. #3’s leadership is the last thing I worry about this year.

Hitting some deep balls to ME would something tht would be nice and it’s pretty clear that’s one thing they’ll be working on.
