NFL Braintrust Says Bosa To Tampa Bay
April 24th, 2016Could it be, after all the half-joking chatter last year about a “Bolt for Bosa” on the heels of the Chase for Jameis?
It seems the stars are aligning.
NFL Network and NFL.com gurus gathered in a room and dove deep into a video-style mock draft today. The result was very much in line with the way Joe believes the top-10 draft cards will fall.
After quarterbacks Carson Wentz and Jared Goff go Nos. 1 and 2, respectively, the assembly has manbeast defensive end DeForest Buckner going to San Diego at No. 3, followed by Ohio State stud running back Ezekiel Elliot making Jerry Jones’ fantasies come true.
At No. 5, the selection was linebacker Myles Jack to Jacksonville, which jibes with all the heavy chatter coming out of Jags country. Left tackles are snagged by the Ravens and Niners, with the Browns grabbing mind-blowing defensive back talent Jalen Ramsey at No. 8.
And that leaves Joey Bosa for the Bucs. The 20-year-old, two-time All-American from Ohio State is a 6-5, 270-pounder with a ton of polish and a strong motor.
It’s a dream scenario for legions of Bucs fans, as they collectively yearn for a legitimately dangerous presence off the edge.
Certainly, Bosa is worth the shot. Aside from the production in college, Joe loves guys like Bosa who come from NFL families.

If we were one pick away from Ramsey, I’d hope we would move up to get him.
April 24th, 2016 at 8:59 pm
That said, I’d be happy with a Bosa pick.
April 24th, 2016 at 9:07 pm
that would be a fing awesome pick omg i hope so
April 24th, 2016 at 9:08 pm
Dream scenario is the Browns go Bosa ( hometown stud) at 8 and JALEN effin RAMSEY falls in our lap!
I want Bosa or Buckner, but Jalen….
April 24th, 2016 at 9:28 pm
The one and only DE worth taking in the top 15 picks. I’m alright with that.
April 24th, 2016 at 9:53 pm
Ramsey or Bosa or trade down. No one else that will be available will be worthy of the 9th pick.
April 24th, 2016 at 9:54 pm
I can see Bosa fall to 9, but taken by BAL at 6. Smoothing out the rest of the kinks:
(3) Ramsey to SD
(4) Eliot to DAL (agree)
(5) Jack to JAX (agree)
(6) Bosa to BAL
(7) Paxton to SF (Chip loves MM clone)
(8) Buckner to CLE
9 then leaves us: Laremy Tunsil / VH3 / Stanley / Rankins
If the 3rd QB is not picked, then it’s: VH3 / Stanley / Rankins / Lawson
(sigh)
April 24th, 2016 at 10:03 pm
Is Bosa really the guy to give us the elite edge rush we need? I’m a little skeptical. I also don’t really like it when the write ups on a player all describe him as a partier… Johnny Football anyone? I don’t know. I smell a bust.
April 24th, 2016 at 10:05 pm
@joe
Former nfl players children doesn’t always bode well
*cody grim was decent
*ryan nece great depth
*chris sims mike glennon 1.0
*kenny bell need I say more
We need players who need to be double teamed
Booger, sapp and rice all required double teams and I strongly think bosa can be handled one on one at the nfl level
April 24th, 2016 at 10:10 pm
If Joey Bosa falls to the Bucs that would be good, but I don’t know how he gets past the Cowboys given their situation at DE now. I’ve read that Jerry Jones absolutely loves RB Ezekiel Elliott and but for some rumors about Myles Jack’s knee, he would take either one of them.
But the Cowboys are not going to re-sign Greg Hardy, they have lost DE Randy Gregory for 4 games over weed, and they have just lost DE DeMarcus Lawrence for 4 games over PEDS. I will be surprised if they don’t take Bosa.
April 24th, 2016 at 10:12 pm
“with the Browns grabbing mind-blowing defensive back talent Jalen Ramsey at No. 8.”
Ramsey sure is getting a lot of love for a guy that only had 3 picks in 3 years with 22 passes defended.
April 24th, 2016 at 10:14 pm
Even if bosa is there still a much better value to trade down with Titans and get an extra 2nd
April 24th, 2016 at 10:14 pm
Only guy left worth the 9 pick is Ramsey
April 24th, 2016 at 10:14 pm
Joes Bosa might not have the sack stats but he does have QB pressures and run stoppage. THUMPER
April 24th, 2016 at 10:14 pm
Heck Hargreaves had At Least 3 Every year, with more passes defended and returns punts and kicks. His numbers far outweigh Ramsey’s
I am all for trading Back not up, and getting a Beast DL tho.
April 24th, 2016 at 10:25 pm
Well you heard it here first…..Cowboys will go with Henry over Elliot….watch and see.
And if Ramsey is actually there at #8 (he wont be) but if he is, the Browns could still use a really good QB like MG8, and we make that trade. But Ramsey wont fall that far, trust me.
April 24th, 2016 at 10:41 pm
Well if they do that Max I hope they are stupid enough to do it at 4. Lord knows that they could trade back away and stack picks. However the Sports Science piece on Elliot vs. Henry is Very interesting.

April 24th, 2016 at 10:42 pm
I don’t get the fans who think there is a trade down scenario likely to happen. If the bucs don’t think anyone left is good enough for them at pick 9 why would another team want the pick that badly to make a trade
April 24th, 2016 at 10:42 pm
Im gonna trust Jason and hopefully we will get the best player for the biggest need. I dont like Bosa though. Seems like a bust to me.
April 24th, 2016 at 10:46 pm
Please,i see him as the next jared allen
April 24th, 2016 at 10:47 pm
Elliot at no. 4 won’t necessarily happen. and the Ravens are more likely to take a pass rusher, they have nobody bug Suggs at that position.
April 24th, 2016 at 10:54 pm
I would do a backflip while holding my beer and not spill a drop if we can get Bosa and Somehow trade back in and get Either Rankins or Billings.
April 24th, 2016 at 10:57 pm
Bust
April 24th, 2016 at 11:08 pm
I see it as Hargreaves falling out of the top 15….and I’m sticking to it.
April 24th, 2016 at 11:09 pm
No one threw Ramsey’s way.
April 24th, 2016 at 11:11 pm
Some of you will never be happy
April 24th, 2016 at 11:25 pm
No, I say they take Floyd no matter what
April 24th, 2016 at 11:26 pm
Unless Ramsey of course but that’s a pipe dream
April 24th, 2016 at 11:35 pm
Eagles blow up the draft and take Ezekiel Elliot at 2 and then the trade up for QB s start happening. You heard it here first!
April 24th, 2016 at 11:36 pm
Yeah, with you on that 87, Im not getting all of the hype over VH. Dont get me wrong, I’ll be on board in supporting him if he’s our pick, but I’ll also be smh a little thinking wth.
Im really warming to Rankins and it would be nice if we could trade back and get him. Then grab Spence or Ogbah. I wanted Floyd but Luv, who I greatly trust, kindly nudged me away from that one. One thing is for sure, it’ll be an interesting draft this time around.
April 24th, 2016 at 11:45 pm
I watched a couple Ohio St games this past season and did nothing but watch Bosa when their D was on the field (only because of all the Bosa love in the comments). I wasn’t impressed at all. Most plays he got handled. So I’m hoping he’s not our pick. That being said… I am really impressed with Licht, so if he picks Bosa, someone else, trades up or down, I’m going to be excited because I trust his football IQ. Go Bucs!
April 24th, 2016 at 11:49 pm
I’m really hoping for two DE’s in the top 3 rounds though
April 25th, 2016 at 12:41 am
I’ll trust in Licht but personally I think Bosa has bust potential too.
I think trading back a little, getting another 3rd and taking Lawson would be great. They can get Safety Joseph in Rd 2 and another DE along with a WR in Rd 3
Those who want to give up picks to move up…. I just don’t get it. Why get this of picks?? Not much different in the top players in this draft to the bottom of the first.
April 25th, 2016 at 1:41 am
Bosa is head and shoulders above the rest of this DE class. The #2 through #20 DEs are all basically going to need the same amount of time to develop, hence why I wouldn’t waste a top 10 pick on them. If Bosa is there you run to the podium.
April 25th, 2016 at 2:05 am
I’d take Lawson 1 then give one of our extra 6th rd picks to move up a few spots in the 2nd rd and grab a db like Joseph Apple burns if one falls. I’d take Buckner at 9 if he was there but he won’t be..
April 25th, 2016 at 3:45 am
If Ramsey is still on the board at #7 like they suggest, you can guaran-damn-tee the Bucs will be trading up with the 49ers to get him. End of story.
April 25th, 2016 at 3:49 am
If the Bucs stay put at #9 and Buckner is off the board the pick will be Lawson or Bosa. I think you can scratch Hargreaves off the list unless a nightmare scenario unfolds where the top three DE’s are all gone. In which case I think they take Conklin over Hargreaves anyway. But I don’t see any of that happening. If they don’t trade up or down I fully expect it to be Lawson or Bosa.
April 25th, 2016 at 3:52 am
If they trade up it’ll be for Ramsey. If it’s down it’ll be for Ogbah or Apple, or maybe a tiny chance it’s for Rankins (Rankins’ overall athleticism is ordinary and not worthy of a top ten pick).
April 25th, 2016 at 4:56 am
Not to crazy about Bosa or Buckner..he was a bully in college I don’t see him being able to do that on the next level…I’d rather take Conklin at 9 than Bosa…
April 25th, 2016 at 7:33 am
Supersam I’d go Billings over Rankins.
April 25th, 2016 at 7:37 am
As for bosa he reminds of Jadeveon Clowney. Once he hits the NFL you’ll cease to hear from this guy… He’ll be too busy somewhere gettin high.
April 25th, 2016 at 7:55 am
Cheers from Brazil. And please pick Ramsey.
April 25th, 2016 at 10:37 am
I gotta say after finally watching highlights of the top DLs I was very impressed with Bosa. He was quick to identify the ball carrier and was relentless in persuing the ball carrier always keeping eye on them and simply brushing off would be blockers. When you look at his production it’s impressive, another Ray Allen and who up here would would be upset with that? Sheldon Rankins was impressive also. Dude is fast for a big guy.
April 25th, 2016 at 12:30 pm
I’d rather see us take a CB or Safety rather than Bosa. Don’t know why..But I see this kid as a..flash in the pan type player with 1 to 2 yrs of NFL service. Not sayin I’m not wrong. But my gut is usually right.
April 25th, 2016 at 3:24 pm
I trust Hayes/Smith/Licht to make the right pick. If it was Dominick, then I’d be worried.
April 25th, 2016 at 8:25 pm
I hate it when a player is rated high but had a “down” year his last season. 5 sacks seem like nothing for the elite #2 athlete in the draft. For the people who watched the tape. Why doesn’t he get the sacks #s? Did he pull a “Clowney” and not want to get hurt his junior year? Or is he just fighting double team every game and just doesn’t have the opportunities?
I would be really sickened if we drafted the next Bowers or Clowney. I guess i should go watch some of the bosa highlights before i criticize him.
