i was totally wrong about mankins last year. I thought for sure he would break down and his knees would not hold up. he proved me wrong. I’d like to see him comeback for one more season that being said it’s a gamble when you count on a player his age and must be prepared to loose him during the season same with VJAX bring them back but at the same point their replacements need to be in house learning from them this off season.

Bringing Mankins and VJax back are no more of a gamble then signing an overpriced FA who may or may not pan out.
Besides, with all the young players coming up, having revered veteran presence is a major plus.
Without making t playoffs, the cost of continuity and leadership is hard to quantify.

counting on any player with an a significant injury history without adequate replacement is a gamble no matter if it’s , free agents or draft picks.
Last year is a perfect example VJAX misses half the season more or less and Jameis is throwing passes to Undrafted free agents and scrubs…. Yes there leadership is needed but unless they have talented replacements in case they go down and odds are they will both miss games next year leadership is meaningless. teams that win consistently have depth. Leadership is meaningless if your leading players that can’t play.

tmaxcon -Vincent Jackson is not a player with an a “significant injury history?” Jackson was inactive for the first five games of the 2005 season due to injuries which was the only games he missed due to injury prior to last year. Missing six games last year and five games a decade ago does not qualify him as having a “significant injury history.” This team is not the same offense when he is not starting. At 33 years old it is anyones guess how long his knees are going to hold up before he gets injured again? What was your point? That we should release Jackson and Mankins because they have had some injuries? To replace Jackson we need to draft a WR. I just do not see a viable quality WR becoming available in FA, let alone one who our GM is going to sign, especially with all the other needs on this team. I believe Logan Mankins is done and will retire before the start of this season. When players even speak of retirement it is a sign they are done. Time to give Kevin Pamphile a shot and use Mankins $7M to sign that WR we need or Josh Norman?

did you read what I wrote. I said bring them back…. My point is simple… Bring them back but cover your arse the odds are they will miss games nothing more nothing less. not one negative item about either of them. I never wrote that vjax had a significant injury history but mankins does have a very bad knee. the odds are they will miss games and instead of throwing to scrubs cover thy arse….
I see no way bucs have a shot and norman. and I agree i am not impressed with WR in draft nor free agency. i’d like to see the bucs upgrade murphy and dye though.

Mankins Might..return for one more season. But he’s getting real long in the tooth. You can bet if he does return, he will miss a few games here and there. Look guys, the man has been in those trenches for a while and its taken its toll.
I for one won’t blame him one iota for calling it quits. His body is feeling it bigtime.
