McCown Bungling Opportunity

August 27th, 2009

"Hi. My name is Luke. I got a $2.5 million signing bonus."

Byron Leftwich was second-rate in his pre-lightning delay action. Now Luke McCown isn’t looking too much better.

Is either of these guys good enough to snatch the No. 1 quarterback job by the short hairs?

Joe’s almost ready to say give the damn ball to Josh Freeman and get it over with. Former Bucs quarterback Jeff Carlson and Bucs icon John Lynch might be right on the money.

In McCown’s first series, he opened with a gorgeous strike of a 30-yard touch pass as he’s hit to Jeremy Stevens who juggles it and goes out of bounds. No catch.

McCown then gets a first down with his legs on 3rd-and-8 after the pocket collapses. Nice.

After Earnest Graham breaks one for 27 yards, and Cadillac Williams moves the chains yet again with some nasty, strong running, McCown underthrows wide receiver Kelly Campbell, who had a step on his man downfield.

Then the bottom dropped out for McCown.

He was sacked for a five-yard loss with Sammie Stroughter wide open. Then he took a sack on the next play, when he didn’t react well to a blitz that wasn’t picked up effectively by Graham.

On the next possession, the seemingly once-a-game ugly play by McCown arrived. He took a horrendously stupid intentional grounding for 20+ yard loss. It was one of those plays he tried to make when he should have thrown the ball away.

Two series. No completions.

Halftime awaits.

It seems like it doesnt take too much to rattle Luke’s cage. That toss to Stevens was BEAUTIFUL – incomplete but what a pass.

Unfortunately that stupid intentional grounding play is typical of the type of plays that has lead me to giving up on Luke.

After seeing Lefty’s constant overthrowing of players I’m stymied about the QB situation.

Hey maybe we can trade Luke and Byron to KC for Tyler????

Well Luke did the same thing on his next series – two nice passes (Clark missed a TD) but once Luke had to scramble he was done for.

The amount of time that the line gave Luke was 1/2 that which Byron was granted – makes you wonder?

Mr. Luchy, not a bad idea, but the trade MUST include BOTH Leftwich and McCown–I’m sick of both of these clowns! I don’t know which is worse, the pain of watching these two clowns try to act like QBs, or the pain in my nuts from the vasectomy I had this morning! You have to wonder what happened to the SAME offensive line that gave Shitwich plenty of time to throw but couldn’t give McCown time to drop back much less look around the field to find an open receiver! Face it, Shitwich and McCown has played HORRIBLY against the other team’s 1st team defense, with most of their success coming against 2nd and 3rd stringers. Cut both of these sonsofbitches and tell them not to let the door hit them in the ass on the way out!!!

I’m glad the bucs have dumbwich, he stunk up my team (Jags) while in jacksonville. He is the worst 1st round qb I have ever seen.
