Raheem Slaps Bucs Offense — Of Old
August 26th, 2009Joe gives it up for Raheem The Dream. He’s one of the most refreshing guys in head coaching today. Fun, straight-forward, and rather light on the BS.
The young head coach had nothing but praise for the Bucs’ bouce-back attitude after Sabby Piscitelli was torched on the opening play of Saturday’s preseason game, so he told The Tampa Tribune.
But in lauding the Bucs mental toughness, Raheem The Dream gave a telling glimpse into the lack of faith the Bucs had in Chucky’s offenses of old.
“You see a big hit like that on the first play of the game, even on the first drive of the game, and in the past it’s always been, ‘Oh man, it’s going to be a long day, because we can’t score on offense,'” Morris said. “But we came back after that and nobody blinked. We got the lead back before halftime, and to me that was big-time mental toughness. That was all positive stuff.”
Chucky, who know doubt scours the local sports pages, is probably grumbling F-bombs at Raheem about now.

Wow, what a comment! I wonder if Raheem and defense realized that it was the defense getting manhandled and the offense coming back to win the game in the 4th quarter and overtime in games like the KC and Bears games. Or if instead of wondering we could score on offense, they could have concentrated on stopping the run in the last 4 games.

Buc Realist, you took the words right out of my mouth. Not only last year, but I remeber games in 2005, the Vikings scored right off and then by half we were 17-7(we won game), or the Falcon game they scored right off and at half we were up 14-10(we won game).

Gruden’s offenses were generally awful to watch but I’m not sure such a generalization could be made (or should be made).
He can say what he wants but can’t he at least pick a QB so we will know what kind of (lack) of Offense we can look forward too?
Lefty – Sacks and Int’s
Luke – Check downs and scrambles

Maybe he was talking about the Clyde Christenson era, or the David Shula wonder years…
