“The Shock And Awe Was Gone”

Bucs rookie quarterback Josh Freeman logged his second NFL game Saturday at Jacksonville. Joe caught up with the Kansas State product for his thoughts of his play, highlighted by a 28-yard touchdown run.
You seemed to have a shorter stint tonight?
Yeah, I came out and we had that really long drive and then we had a short one that didn’t end up so successful. [Josh] Johnson played well last week and he didn’t play much so they wanted to give him more snaps.
Were you more calm tonight?
The first night, I could feel my heart beat. I was like, “Wow.” This game, I was more of the mentality of, “OK, let’s get at this thing.” I guess the shock and awe was gone.
So you are comfortably in the NFL now?
This is something I have done my whole life. I am a football player. Stepping out there, that’s my element: on the football field. And I will continue to build on what I have been working on with [quarterbacks coach Greg Olson].”

Freeman looked good for what he did and what he is, a rookie in his second appereance. I hope the Freeman era begins quickly in Tampa. Any other QB starting is simply time wasted…unless we win the SB 🙂 but while I expect to enjoy this season, I don’t think it will be that much. Give the kid the keys!!!

I just can get the thought out of my mind that we shouldn’t have drafted this guy. Especially with Sam Bradford, Colt McCoy, and Tim Tebow available next draft. He may end up like an early Daunte Culpepper, but he doesn’t have Randy Moss or Cris Carter.
