Bad Third Down Conversion = Losses

In his post-game comments, America’s Quarterback, Bucs signal-caller Jameis Winston, was rather subdued. Whether he was still feeling the effects of a vicious hit in the third quarter (he was walking in the locker room like Frankenstein) is unclear.
What was clear is that Jameis summed up the reason for the sudden downturn of the Bucs, from playoff contenders to pretenders to revisiting the 2014 season as doormats for NFL teams to wipe the neighbor’s dog manure off their shoes.
First, Jameis said blame him for the loss. His ugly red zone pick helped seal the deal for the Bears (which came briefly after Jameis got lit up like a roman candle and afterwards never appeared to be the same).
But more important, Jameis talked about third down conversions. This year’s Bucs were one of the better teams in the NFL at third down conversions. That has not been the case lately, including today.
The Bucs converted but two of eight third down attempts.
Three games of bad third down conversion? Jameis said it’s simple: “Three losses.”
And yes, Jameis said that is on him.

Before the “fire Lovie” crowd gets going, here is some advice: buy a ticket and go to the game, root for the Bucs. I was there today and it seemed every other seat had a Bears fan sitting in it. Your team would play a heck of lot better if the Bucs fans weren’t drowned out by “go Bears go.” Think about it for 2016.

He played garbage today. Yes, Evans dropped another one but THE MESSIAH constantly under throws open WR’s for long gains. That needs to get corrected.

Imagine us being 6-10 without Jameis? That’s literally it for our hope right now. There’s nothing else to be optimistic about, and this team is too crappy for even Jameis Christ to carry past 7-9.

In a pre-game interview, Licht said the expectations for next season is “playoffs”
The GM said the talent is there……..
Soooooo, if they don’t make the playoffs in 2016, I would expect the GM to fire Lovie…..
Simple as that…

@Seminole bill, I am a die hard Bucs fan, used to go to as many games as possible when I still lived in FL. And normally I agree with you- players will play harder when they have fans that show up. Our home crowd has always been one of the weakest.
But how can you expect people to spend there hard-earned money on a team that simply does not show up at home? The product on the field has been absolute garbage for the last 5 years. The only way fans can affect change is with their wallets. Show us something worth watching and we’ll show up and spend money (at least I would).
Being a pro sports team in Fl unfortunately means we will never have a real home field advantage.

At this point, as much as I hate to do so, I have to agree 100% with Bucnut2. Jameis needs time to develope and hopefully won’t end up being “America’s Disappointment”

Who expected Jameis to be at the level he’s at now????? I sure as shiht didnt… I thought we were in for a 20+ INT growing-pains type of season…
But throughout the year, this kid just kept raising the ceiling on his potential… so now, after his teammates have given up on their head coach, he cant do it alone…
He needs a coach who wont put the burden of ‘lighting a fire under this teams ass’ on him… week in and week out… he can bail Lovie out a few times…
But for Lovie to swing and miss in all aspects of coaching, only to depend on his 21 year old QB to pick up and save this team for him??????

Let’s be real. The immortal Teddy Bridgewater torched the Bears defense for 4 touchdowns last week. JW looked bad against a bad defense. Simple as that

You can chalk this game up to the three turnovers coupled with a porous run defense….a and a disastrous penalty on the interception.
It wasn’t Jameis…..he had us in the game regardless of the above…and a bad snap helped to cause a missed FG.
It was the usual combination of mistakes young teams and teams lacking talent make.

Jameis didn’t play his best game and need to work on his deep ball but there are several things that stick out in my mind. 1 was his INT in the end zone that hurt and should’ve at least been 3 pts, Doug Martin’s 2 fumbles that gave the ball right back to the bears in Bucs territory and lead to 10 pts, Verners face mask that negated a turnover that would’ve given the offense the ball on the goal-line, Hawley had 2 bad snaps at the end that killed 2 drives (1 Jameis caught but didn’t look ready for it on 3rd down and the other rolled to Jameis leading to a sack that took them out of field goal range). Defense wasn’t great but didn’t get much help from the offense.

Except under the business model of the Bucs, the general manager doesn’t fire the coach. That’s Team Glazer’s call and their call alone.

Get off the fire Lovie kick again (and I’ll probably have to say it again next week), as much as I get ticked off and want to see things change I’m also aware that the successful teams in the league are not built overnight and are normally the teams that don’t change coaches every 2-3 years. I’ll say it again and probably a few more times, I’ve see Lovie have success in the league but I haven’t seen quite a few of the players on this team have that same level of success.

We have to admit this offense looks totally different without Vincent Jackson. We need to resign him and add another receiver or 2 to the lineup. Whats up with Koetter calling all them running plays on 1st down. We have to mix it up more. Teams have figured our offensive and defensive game plans out.
