Jameis Will “Save Lives”

Lifesaver?
You know it is a big game — even if both the Bears and the Bucs are out of the playoffs — when a beat reporter who covers the visiting team spends the preceding week in Tampa writing advance stories.
That is what Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune has been doing this week leading up to Sunday’s game.
Today, Biggs has a huge profile of America’s Quarterback, Bucs signal-caller Jameis Winston. Among the sources Biggs quotes is Jerry Angelo, former Bears general manager who spent 13 years with the Bucs as a director of player personnel.
Biggs has Angelo quoted as saying the Bucs, basically, are still the same garbage team they were last year with one major difference: Jameis.
“He’s right on the cusp of being a franchise quarterback,” Angelo said. “They were a really bad team a year ago and they’re not really that much better this year except for him.
“He has made an absolute huge difference and that is what a quarterback is supposed to do … and he has done it in his rookie year. Obviously, the arrow is going up and he is just going to get better. Quarterbacks save lives.”
Joe isn’t so sure Jameis is a lifesaver yet. But Joe is sure what Angelo is saying is that Jameis is saving careers.
Look, if the Bucs still had Stewart McClown at quarterback, or even brittle, coachkiller Marcus Mariota, it’s very likely Lovie would be on dangerously thin ice if not already out of a job. Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht likely would be in hot water, too, not to mention the entire coaching staff.
Angelo makes one helluva point: Without the addition of Jameis, are the Bucs any better than they were last year? To be honest, not much, though the rookie offensive linemen sure have helped.

With Jameis, I only felt that we were out of 3 games all year. Titans, Carolina, and Rams (after the kick return). Our future is bright, and I would like to see the team end the year with a couple of victories.

You could plaster that quote anywhere and everywhere and the reaction from sane fans alike would be “Angelo is 100% right”. We are basically the same team we were last year. Defense is below average and our offense sans a much better effort from the O Line is the same except for our quarterback for the next 15 years, Jameis Winston. That’s a huge exception. I’m so excited that we landed Winston that even in the amidst of not going to the playoffs, I feel it was a very successful year for us.

Jameis has made one helluva difference. We are very fortunate that Lovie and the Bucs SUCKED out loud last year.
I believe Jameis is on the path to being a franchise QB, and that is outstanding.
I fear that Lovie’s defense really sucks, and that our team will not be .500 or better next year. I just can’t stomach to think Lovie will be going into year 3, and we could still be 2+ years away from any kind of a playoff push…

I mean Doug Martin’s doing great too and I don’t think we win that first Atlanta game without Kwon, but yeah, Jameis is a big part of the turnaround.

Why can’t this song, “America the Beautiful”, or “This Land is Your Land” be our national anthem? Both are so much better than the “Star Spangled Banner” which is a musical train wreck stolen from the British song “The Anacreontic Song”. Why can’t our national anthem’s music be written by an American?

Better read your history a little deeper James. Many of those old songs were stolen melodies from old tavern drinking songs.

You’re quite correct James, but the history of our Star Spangled Banner goes much deeper than that as Luther said (although its melody wasn’t an old tavern drinking song). It is unquestionably hard to sing, but if you spend a little while researching its incredibly rich history (dating to the British attack on Fort McHenry outside Baltimore in Sep 1814), you wouldn’t trade it for the world.
