Former Bucs rock star general manager Mark Dominik turned to Twitter last night to gloat. And Joe doesn’t blame him.
Three of his top picks when he was working for the Bucs were named to the Pro Bowl last night. Bucs defensive tackle Gerald McCoy and running back Doug Martin were selected, along with linebacker Lavonte David tabbed as an alternate.
(Guard Logan Mankins, not a Dominik selection, also is an alternate.)
So after learning this news, Dominik proudly took to Twitter.
Congrats to Doug Martin & Gerald McCoy for pro bowl honors. Lavonte, the rest of the league doesn’t know how great you are but Bucs fan do!

Joe thought Dominink’s words about David were spot on. Probably the only reason David did not make the Pro Bowl outright was that he started the season sluggishly before returning to form midseason.

agreed Realist…the same guy who got billboards “in his honor” yet had a better record in his two years than the current HC that seems to always need a little more time and a few more of his players to succeed.

If Schiano had the benefit of Licht drafting from the college pool and Dirk Kotter running the offense we would have won quite a few more game than the current head coach.

Well the new GM will probably have some pro bowlers of his own. Don’t miss Dom too much. How about D. Bowers, A. Claiborne, B. Price, and M. Barron. Couple of top picks for this dip sh!t. None of these 1st or 2nd round players are even on the team. Oops I mean Bowers is back for a few more games.

The only thing at all this team has going for it that Schiano’s didn’t at the end of two years is Jameis. Defense is unquestionably and significantly worse than at the end of Schiano’s time. Offense now is about the same as it was before Freeman came unglued so marginal improvement there.
Sorry but Schiano was on game 32 as a NFL coach at the end of year 2. Lovie will be on game 176. That you hold them to the same standard is pretty sad.

Schiano is a better football coach than Lovie Smith. The Buccaneer win percentage says enough.
Wow, why is it ok for the Bucs to be this terrible? Lovie or GMC need to go, the head coach or the highest paid player. It’s shameful to think a coach worse than Raheem or Schiano is going to get a third year. Lol another losing season

I am no fan of Dominic but he endured one of the worst coaching staffs the team has ever known. That group with Raheem running the ship was just poor. No way to develop players. Maybe this is why he was more successful in the pro personnel department. This was a “budget” coaching move associated with financial stress from the Man U acquisition. I know they aren’t “connected” but if Louis VanGaal doesn’t look better soon Man U will get into the Pep Guardiola sweepstakes. His contract will be pushing gmc status

@danati74…great post…dom hit on a few but whiffed on a lot…@realist your efforts in trying to convince people that schiano was a better coach is getting sad ridiculous and hilarious all at the same time…stating that doug McCoy and david had better seasons under schiano just goes to show how little you know about the progress this team has made this year…2012 doug finished the season with 1454 yards and a pro bowl…this year he has 1305 with 2 games to play, a pro bowl and has a chance to lead the league in rushing if dirk can stop handcuffing him….McCoy had a combined total of 14 sacks under schiano…McCoy has a total of 16 sacks and counting under lovie in 2 years…david didn’t even sniff a pro bowl under schiano …under lovie he’s an pro bowl alternate…so how were these players better under schiano? their stats and w’s this season suggest otherwise….GO BUCS!!!

@bucrightoff…LOL…schiano was trending down in wins and loses..HE REGRESSED..LOL…if you send your kids to a grade A school year 1 and in year 2 that same school is now a C- would you keep your kids in that school knowing that ever since the new principal arrived the education level has REGRESSED…would you stick around to see if the education was going back up or continuing to trend downward….I know I wouldn’t and many parents would agree with me…now if that same school fired the principal and the new principal arrived, PROGRESSED and increased the education level from a C- to an B, would you consider letting your kids stay at their original school..

Schiano had the best cb in the nfl playing zone…that “NO FLY ZONE” got caved up…the run defense is basically the same….schiano had WAY more talent on defense than lovie and schiano went 4-12 in year 2…if we would’ve let schiano stick around another year we might have been 2-14 or worst…all NFL HC are held to the same standard….they must produce WINS…point blank period regardless if they are a rookie like dan Quinn or a lifer like jeff fisher…GO BUCS!!!!

Schiano would have still been here had he not rubbed soo many people th e wrong way. He made his players depressed and didn’t have the resume to go all Tom Coughlin on people. He might be a really good coach someday but just like Raheem the dream he needs time to develop it like most succesful head coaches have.

These schiano lovers are insane. Schiano was a TERRIBLE coach. The players hated him. More important than his wins or losses, was that his players GAVE UP on him. But please tell me again how he should have gotten a third year. While all the bucs players are praying to be traded, and no free agent would dare sign up to play for that idiot. But please go on about how great he was as a talent evaluator. Bringing home 1 great player in his 2 years here. Already Lovie has matched him with the 1 defensive player he drafted. So please just shut up. Because schiano was garbage through and through. The players hated him, the rest of the NFL hated, and the fans hated him. Don’t dare say he should have got a third year. We wouldn’t have had enough players to field a team if he was here for a third year. They would have all retired like the 9ers players did this past year.
