The Bucs’ rookie also weighs in on America’s Quarterback
“I think we’re a playoff team. You know, I think we’re going to the Super Bowl. That’s in my mind,” says Kwon Alexander.
Alexander shared his attitude toward his four-game suspension this morning on WDAE-AM 620. He also called Jameis Winston, America’s Quarterback, “an animal,” and he touched on a variety of subjects, including how Danny Lansanah and Bruce Carter might replace him.
Per Alexander, his leaned more on those two than Lavonte David.
“I learned most of my stuff from Danny and Bruce. I picked their brains. You know, Danny used to play Mike [linebacker] last year in the nickel package,” Alexander said.
“I have the most confidence in those guys. They’re ready to play.”

This weekend was my first time EVER making it down to Tampa for a home game at Ray Jay. I’ve been to every Bucs/Falcons game here in Atlanta for the past 5 or so years, but the energy that you feel when you’re surrounded by fellow Bucs fans is unreal.
My and my cousin (Patriots fan…from Boston) made the drive down on Saturday and stayed at Tampa Stadium Hotel. Not the greatest of hotels, but only 1mi from the stadium. Saw a couple Falcons fans. They got excited when they saw the GA license plates. I promptly told them, “Naw, Bucs fan over here, homie.” They responded, “How you gonna drive all the way down here just to hate.”
Sunday, we planned on trying to hit up a tailgate, but I didn’t get any responses from anyone on these boards, so we decided to just get drunk at the hotel until about noon. We walked out the hotel and there was a shuttle outside, asking us if we’re going to the game. Coming from mid-50 degree weather, we were pleased to enjoy the short walk and bask in the mid-80 degree weather that we would soon miss. As I saw the sign Raymond James Stadium, I suddenly became filled with total joy and had a grin from ear to ear. Seeing SO many Bucs jerseys around was such a different feeling than the Atlanta game.
Normally, we would tailgate at the Dome until about 1245ish and then walk into the stadium. This time, we just decided to go straight into the stadium… I wanted to be able to do a lap around the stadium inside, so I could see what i’ve been missing all these years. Man, what a feeling. Our seats were in section 118-AA. GREAT seats. The shade was on us the WHOLE time and there was a cool breeze blowing through the stadium.
There were Bucs fans ALL around (naturally) and there was one Falcons fan in front of me. Watching her celebrate whenever they did something good, I thought, “That must be how I look when I’m in the Dome.” That Jameis run, wow. Stadium went CRAZY. All the Bucs fans in my area kept saying, “Matty is going to throw us one at some point today.” We all agreed, but couldn’t be happier that it came when it did. Being able to feel the win at home after making the ~6hr drive was well worth it. I’m not sure which win was better to be at: Winning a home game around all my fellow Bucs fans or winning in Atlanta after suffering through MULTIPLE blowouts.
After the game, normally, we would just get up and leave, but today, I said, “Cuz, you mind if we just stay here for a little bit? I just want to soak up the energy and the moment.” He said, “It’s your birthday. We’re not fighting any traffic. We walked. Take as much time as you need.” We didn’t leave the stadium until Jameis and Lavonte walked off the field, through our tunnel.
That night, after drinking and watching afternoon football, cuz asked what we were going to do for food. To me, there was only one option. First time in Tampa, Bucs win, there’s only one place I want to experience: Lee Roy Selmon’s. The service wasn’t the best, but the food was great and the Tampa Tea was nice.
We’re already talking about making this an annual trip. I sure hope next year, I can meet some of you other Bucs fans from this board. We’ll definitely plan on hitting a few of the Adult establishments, as well.

Awesome to hear man. I lived in Atl for about 7-8 years, and happened to work for a large ticketing company (yes, that one). We had a suite of the GA Dome, and I got the host the suite for the Bucs game every year. This was around the Vick days when we mostly dominated the Falcons. Glad to hear you had a good trip. Keep coming back, good times ahead!

Great to hear your story…..I was a season ticket holder in 76……moved out of Tampa in 78….but was hooked….I have come down from NC and seen about 25 games…..have traveled to Charlotte, Chicago & Dallas to see the Bucs….but nothing beats being around thousands of Buc fans. I came down for the Tenn game this year….that’s the bad news….the good news is that I bought a tee shirt at the game and I am 5-1 while wearing it……will keep wearing it.

TBBF … 5-1 while wearing that T-shirt? Impressive. Obviously Bucs need to get you onto the roster. I had one shirt (good ol’ #47) that flirted with a winning record, but then came 2014. Now it just hangs in the closet. Any shirt that can’t win a home game for a whole year needs to be benched.

@celly…glad to hear to had a blast…I was a season holder from ’12 -’14 but after last year I decided not to renew(talked into it by my wife)…that was the worst decision I ever made…come January im back being a season holder…look forward to seeing you next year….GO BUCS!!!

We share similar stories. I haven’t been back to Raymond James in over 5 years. My buddy and I both traveled to Tampa from out of town, as we both live in Nashville now. Last year, while living in Atlanta, I suffered through the blowout loss in Georgia Dome. Oh how things have changed!
Raymond James was ROCKING on Sunday– that’s with a non-existent/empty 200 level section (sunny side of the stadium). My buddy and I are planning on making this a big annual trip. Looking forward to this type of experience for years to come!

Celly- FYI for future games. I went to the What the Buc? tailgate before the game. They have an awesome set up under a bunch of oak trees. Also, there’s a big party with a pirate ship float. I got a great selfie with a couple of the super fans, Shiphead and Big Nasty

I’ve been lurking around here and there. Get tired of dealing with all the “fans” on here that spew negativity constantly, so I’ve just been keeping quiet. Work’s been killing me (regular job and side hustle), plus, I’ve been vacationing a little (just got back from Jamaica a couple weeks ago).

We thought about hitting that one, but we were still drunk from Saturday night, so we decided to just keep drinking and not spend the $20 this time. Hopefully, next year, my birthday weekend will have a late game so we can start early.

Celly – cool story. I was a season ticket holder during the Bucs championship run and loved going to Ray Jay that year. Hot women, hot weather. Fantastic excitement. My job moved me and now I’m in Montana but the Bucs are still my team. Long to someday get back and watch a game.

Happy you got to see the win Celly. Kwon will be missed these last 4 games, he is a tough character. I’m still as high as a kite that he plays for the Bucs.

Celly…it’s a great experience isn’t it. Blows watching it on TV away. Glad you got to see the win. 2013 I had season tickets and it’s a pretty miserable experience walking out of RJS after a loss. Imagine the season ticket holders last season must have been hating life.
I’ve already talked my wife into getting them for 2016 so that’s a done deal. Tickets for some reason have gone through the roof and I see so many empty seats. I wonder why nose-bleeds went from 35 per ticket to all of a sudden 100 per ticket. End zones from 65 to all of a sudden 150. I don’t get it, so I’m getting my season tickets early for 2016. I’m worried they might start to sell out soon. I truly am worried. I’m not missing the boat like I did in 96.

Great story man! I live in Kentucky, but my pops has been living in Ft Lauderdale since i was like 2. Been a dream of mine to see my boyz play live for quite some time now. My little sister recently moved to Atl and I’ve been pondering a trip to see the Bucs play there, but can only imagine what it must’ve been like to actually sit in the stadium. Having recently become separated i now have an abundance of money and your story has inspired me to set in motion plans to see my boys play in Atl(love the scenery if you know what i mean) as well as attend a home game! Oh and visit pops too! Lol!

Celly: If you check back, I’m an old Bucs fan–diehard since 1979. I saw them play at Tampa Stadium. I watched guys like Doug Williams and Lee Roy Selmon play. I actually met Lee Roy at a Bucs deal one time. I was at the inaugural home game at RJS when they beat da Bears. LOL. I know exactly what you’re talking about. The energy of being with a ton of Bucs fans is unreal. I love it. I also did all the tailgating and getting bombed on my butt. I’m too old to do it now, but I smile at the memories. Anyway, welcome and Go Mighty Bucs!!

We got our tickets from NFL Ticket Exchange and for 2 tickets, section 118, Row AA, it was just under $250 ($100/tk + processing fees).
It’s unrealistic for me to get season tickets, so hopefully, whoever sold their AA tickets this year will sell them next year. or at least someone in 118. It was great not having the sun beat down on me. If I can ever convince the wife to move to Tampa, I’ll definitely become a season ticket holder, without question. In a perfect world, I’d get a job as a sys admin or developer for the Bucs. Then, I would (hopefully) get the opportunity to go to every game, home and away.

Great story! I’m from Florida and I currently live in Atlanta. Have not been to a game since 2000 when the Bucs came and beat the Falcons. Haven’t been to RayJ since the Monday Night game against Minnesota… Glad to hear that it’s not “crazy” to drive down for a game! Go Bucs!
