NFL Network: Seferian-Jenkins Will Play Today

Austin Seferian-Jenkins (right) will play in his 12th career game today.
It’s 6 a.m. and Joe’s morning film study and oatmeal inhalation is interrupted by what seems to be impossible news.
NFL Network is reporting tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins will play this afternoon against the Falcons, a move that would put the heralded Dunkaneers on the field for America’s Quarterback. That’s something Bucs fans really haven’t seen.
Second-year man Seferian-Jenkins suffered a mysterious shoulder injury in Week 2 against New Orleans. (It’s mysterious because Lovie Smith refused to describe it publicly.) That was Mike Evans’ first game of the season, and he wasn’t being targeted. Evans had zero receptions that day.
The Bucs’ tight end is a tremendous talent, and he certainly has fresh legs. Joe can guarantee that.
But after 11 weeks off, Joe’s not expecting much of an impact from Seferian-Jenkins this afternoon. The Falcons’ defense surely will be aware of him, and that should help the Bucs, but not enough make up for the loss of Gerald McCoy.

If there was ever a time for the Bucs to become hot, it would be right now since our whole offense is back together. The loss of GMC wont be a big factor to me considering he usually disappears when we need him the most anyways.

With McDonald on IR and neither McDaniel nor Melton exactly lighting it up, losing GMC could be huge for our defense. But then again, I hope all the GMC-haters are right and our DLine finds a way to overcome the loss of their captain and leader. And that they find a way to pressure Matty Ice and stop the run all day long without their All-Pro DT’s presence. And that the Bucs win of course.

We will miss McCoy big time he may not always get sacks but he causes disruption in the back field and ties up two blockers. Btw he has the most sacks of defensive tackles since 2012. So take that haters.

That sounds like such troll BS, BucLife…. “The trainers wouldn’t clear him?” So he’s just sitting there, itching to get back on the field, begging to play because he feels well enough to go and the Bucs staff is literally holding him back, “NO! YOU’RE NOT READY!!! AND WE’RE NOT ALLOWING YOU TO GO ON THE FIELD!”
I don’t buy it for a second. I’ll buy that San Bernardino was “workplace violence” before I buy that.

How is that being a troll. That is what is being stated by the team that he wasn’t being released to play. So I guess that makes him soft and if your a head coach do you send a player on the field too early and risk a greater injury just not smart football.

Not sure I care about ASJ at this point. Doen’t matter if its his fault or not, he has missed the meaningfuly part of two seasons now and has not been an asset to the Buccaneers. Brate has been making some great clutch catches. ASJ should have to earn his way back on the field and not be gifted anything.

Yes. Soft. In my opinion ASJ is a fragile, powdered-and-pink chandelier. He’s one of the biggest teases in Bucs history, if not the biggest. Teddy Roosevelt gave a speech with a BULLET in his lung. Emmit Smith ran for over 100 yards with a separated shoulder. WAHH.. ASJ hurt his shoulder – which required NO surgery – and the team is FIGHTING to keep him off the field? They won’t CLEAR him to play? Either the team is FLAT OUT LYING about it being a shoulder or he’s the weakest, softest player ever. What? A player begging to come on to the field is something NEW?

I just stated what was put out there by the media that he was not cleared to return to the field I am not related to him or any other Buc or coach I am a plain and simple fan. But I do read the many sources that have inside information and they all said the man was not cleared. I am sure he is soft like you said and don’t want to show case his talents for a possible bigger pay day down the line just as Doug Martin was/is soft because he was injured and is only playing now because he wants his pay day. These young players are living their dream by being in the NFL don’t think being in the trainer’s tub was part of their dream just part of the game.

As long as ASJ contributes, it’s all good. So far he’s been a disappointing 2nd round pick. I have a feeling ASJ will have a breakout game today because of the competition with Brate, who’s been helpful not to mention healthy.

AGAIN….ASJ hasn’t done anything to be compared with Gronk in terms of achievement on the field. I’m simply making a physical comparison.
If ASJ is getting all the derision when do we start talking about Gronk’s Vajajay?
TE is a physical position where you frequently get lit up by a safety with a running start and time to get a good angle. When that’s not happening you have to block at minimum a beastly LB at maximum and larger DE.
The Capt Morgan dance turned me off big time. But I do not believe ASJ is wimping out. He might just be fragile…like Gronk eh?

Pewter Report reported several weeks ago that his shoulder injury was “significant,” noting that they’d heard that he’d suffered a dislocated shoulder and using terms like “legitimate” and “severe” to describe the injury. Greg Auman says that he injured the AC joint in his shoulder. The significant recovery time would imply structural shoulder damage as a result of whatever happened.
It should be noted that this isn’t really Seferian-Jenkins’ fault. He’s repeatedly noted that he wants to play — but he doesn’t get to make the call as to whether he’s cleared to play. The trainers simply have not deemed his shoulder healed enough to where he can go out there and play with contact. That’s frustrating for fans, but also has to be for the tight end himself.
@BucTrooper – Calling Austin Seferian-Jenkins soft because he could not get medical clearance just reinforces just how unintelligent you really are.

SPBF…although not as extensive as your post, I’ve used Gronk as a reference a lot when defending ASJ. TE’s get hurt all the time in this league, ASJ is no different apparently. It’s a physically demanding position to play.
