Status Of Gerald McCoy
December 6th, 2015Updated: 5:45 a.m.: Well, Gerald McCoy was listed as “doubtful” on the Bucs’ injury report Friday, after having what GMC deemed a “small procedure” on his left hand.
The injury was sustained in the first half against Indianapolis
Watching him practice during a small window of availability Friday, Woody Cummings of the Tampa Tribune painted a bleak picture of GMC’s readiness to play in today’s must-win game for the Bucs, as Cummings told Jenna Laine of WHBO-AM 1040.
“Our access to practice was maybe about five or six minutes,” Cummings recounted. “Gerald came out a little bit late. He was doing the bags, it was the individual portion we saw him working on. He was hitting the bags. He wasn’t using his left hand at all. [GMC held his left hand] tight, up against his chest like he had his arm in a sling but he was not in a sling. Just not using it, using moves with his right hand only.”
Your stud defensive tackle unable to use one hand two days before kickoff is not promising. Of course, we will know with certainly at 11:30 a.m., when the NFL requires all teams playing in 1 p.m. kickoffs to release their active list for the game.
Cummings seems to think GMC will find a way to play, as this is one of the rare times in GMC’s career where the Bucs are involved in a meaningful game in December.
“I have a feeling he is going to pay in this game,” Cummings said. “I have a feeling he is going to get out there some way. I have a feeling he is going to play.”
Playing is one thing; being effective is another. Joe isn’t sure how a defensive tackle can be productive in any way if he can’t use one of his wings.
Update: Per Adam Schefter of BSPN, McCoy will not play today.

I can see by the volumes of comments on game day of a conference rival that nobody is concerned or cares.
Trade him for draft picks.

Miguel dude.. You’re wild. Think about Matt Ryan having all day in the pocket today. This game is gonna get pretty ugly if the other guys on the line don’t step up.

@Miguel Grande Says:
I have beening telling my family, The only players you dont EVER considered trading are … THE GREAT 1NES! Unfortunately Gerald McCoy is not great . So you should always listen to someone pitch you if for nothing less. If someone gave us a 2nd or higher they would move him, if for nothing else but to remove that bad deal they gave him . Great deal for him bad for bucs .

Yes, the two best pass rushers of our subpar pass are out. But at least Lovie will match up man to man again with our subpar corners. Not to worry though, because I saw a regular outspoken poster here, after last week’s loss, guarantee we would win today and win out the season. So I feel good. =)

What I dont get about the mccoy haters, is that who do they think is better than mccoy on this team? Which DT is getting more pressure on qbs than mccoy? Which DT has sacked the qb more than mccoy? Across the league which DT is getting more sacks than mccoy? Yes his production isnt at an all time great level, but people seem to forget he is also injured. A DT with one shoulder wont be very effective. Yet mccoy has still been fairly effective, leading DTs in sacks this year. It’s amazing how the bucs fans expectations are sky high. It’s like they expect everyone to be hall of famers. Reality check folks, none of these buccaneers are hall of fame players. Not yet anyways.
