Offense Let Team Down

Not executing.
The Bucs had the ball to open the second half with a 12-6 lead and an opportunity to maybe put the Colts away laid before them.
But no! The Bucs fizzled with consecutive 3-and-outs (highlighted by a Vincent Jackson holding penalty on the first drive that negated a five-yard Doug Martin run).
The Bucs’ offensive failures not only sucked the air out the balloon but allowed the Colts to get back in the game and take a 16-12 lead.
Bye, bye ballgame. Even tight end Cameron Brate knew the Bucs fouled up a golden opportunity.
“We had the opportunity to take a two-touchdown lead I think coming out [of halftime],” Brate said. “Those opportunities don’t come around that often, building that big of a lead that early in the game, so we just need to execute what we do, maintain our composure and just try not to get those penalties.”
“Execute” was just what America’s Quarterback, Bucs signal-caller Jameis Winston said.
“As an offense we have to execute,” Jameis said. “It doesn’t matter what we are doing, running or passing. As a quarterback, [I] have to execute.”
Joe hopes the Bucs have this execute thing figured out fast. The next two games are must-wins, both at home against the Dixie Chicks and the Saints.

Maybe Michael Clayton Evans should run some sprints this week and then do nothing but have someone throw his as s some footballs and work on catching.
Should be held accountable.

Where’d Martin go in the second half? Hmm? I blame Koetter for this one. Not Evans. Not the refs. Not the secondary. Koetter. He called a terrible, terrible game. From not giving any help to Don Smith like we have been doing to completely ignoring Martin in the 2nd half after he tore it up in the first half.
Bad Koetter. Bad. Bad. Bad.

Everyone is on Evans( which I get) but man the O line was a MESS yesterday. I agree with Joe, no adjustments were made for the pressure. I bet ATL and NO are watching the tape on that.

the first TD was negated by a hold and Evans had a perfect TD pass fall in his lap and he dropped it! Those were the points we needed to win besides that the officiating was despicable

Colts adjusted on both offense and defense. Bucs didn’t, simple as that

Evans did drop one ball, but THE MESSIAH needs to fix his long ball. Game after game he under throws Evans when he has a step on the CB. Now him catching the ball is a different story.

Why were we throwing so many long balls when the offensive line was getting destroyed? Hmm?

As many analysts like to say, this game was won and lost in the trenches. You can talk about Koetter and play calling and all of that. We could run and the Colts could not. But these days, passing dictates points. Winston was under siege on nearly every passing play.
(Despite all of StPete’s stats of hurries, Winston was hurried after 1.5 seconds. If Hasselback was getting hurried, it was after 4 seconds.)
Hasselbeck had nearly all day on every pass.

We were running fine – until the second half. We gave up on the run game. Gave up. In a close game. That’s all on Koetter.

I think it’s pretty clear the Bucs drafted the wrong guy. Just imagine Odell Beckham, Jr. one-handing passes instead of Mike “Hands of Stone” Clayton-Williams-Evans batting passes down like a volleyball player.

I don’t think Evans has “bad hands”, I see it as focus and concentration. He isn’t working on the fundamentals of watching the ball into his hands. How many times has he dropped curls because he didn’t “see” the ball into his hands and the ball hits him in the chest.
The guy actually has great hands as witnessed by all of the jump balls he catches on the sidelines when the throws are high. He makes some amazing catches but misses the routine ones.
I think he is lazy in his route running and doesn’t fight hard enough for his catches. He really needs some lessons in being a pro. His on field behavior and body language tells me he isn’t working hard enough to correct his deficiencies.

The back breaker was the drop by Evans. That was huge and after that the team felt flat.
The defense also gave up way to many long long long drives. Get off the field!
