Peter King Says Bucs Are Second-Worst 5-5 Team
November 24th, 2015What’s with this Peter King, NFL lord of Sports Illustrated, NBC Sports and TheMMQB?
Is he not watching America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston?
Today, King rated his Top-15 teams in the NFL. The Bucs take the No. 15 slot, but King places six 5-5 teams ahead of the Buccaneers, including Buffalo and Houston, teams with garbage at quarterback.
King ranks the 5-5 Jets below the Bucs at No. 19.
Gee, thanks Peter.
Perhaps King is talking too much too all those NFL executives who swore to him that the Bucs would and should draft Marcus Mariota.

Power rankings are meaningless, especially if a team is improving or imploding. What do you expect? The Bucs just broke the longest active streak of a team not winning consecutive games. Opinions don’t change broadly until there is some consistency shown.
So don’t worry about power rankings. Beat the Colts on the road, everything will take care of itself.
November 24th, 2015 at 10:27 am
Peter King has always been down on the Bucs, he is a pretty biased writer imo.
November 24th, 2015 at 10:28 am
Good. Let’s prove it with some more wins. No point in hoping people respect us when we can go out there and finally earn it.
November 24th, 2015 at 10:31 am
Somebody please show this comment to Jameis.
The kid plays better pissed.
OK, I’m off my high horse. Bucs just did win 2 in a row, finished dead last the previous season. Bucs need to go on a tear to finish out the season. That will turn the heads.
November 24th, 2015 at 10:32 am
Use it as fuel to prove him wrong. Let’s take down the Colts next. That might shut him up a bit!
November 24th, 2015 at 10:33 am
Never did care about “rankings” based on someone’s opinion.
The standings are all that matter.
November 24th, 2015 at 10:33 am
I have him blocked on twitter because I don’t ever even wanna see a retweet of that little troll.
November 24th, 2015 at 10:47 am
Think about it. Ranked 15 is awesome! Acknowledgement like this usually moves slowly in the NFL. We were 32nd last year. We also know we will be higher than 15 at the end of the season. You gotta be excited!
November 24th, 2015 at 10:48 am
I’m happy to see the BUCS in the top 15 regardless of who’s above them… even if it’s Peter King’s opinion. But let’s not blast him too early; he did say the BUCS are a good team a year early.
He also has the Falcons at 6-4 are ranked 20th… How’s that for “respect?” A 5-5 Team is listed above a 6-4 Team.
Bottom Line; these rankings do not matter. The BUCS have to keep winning to have a chance at the Wild Card. That’s the only thing that matters.
November 24th, 2015 at 10:59 am
Rather be sixth best 5-5 team than the best 3-7 team……lol
November 24th, 2015 at 10:59 am
Peter King, the troll of all trolls.
November 24th, 2015 at 11:04 am
Loser teams care about power rankings. You think the pats or packers care where they sit? Absolutely not! 15th, 4th, 27th…. Who cares! Just win baby!!!!!!!!
November 24th, 2015 at 11:06 am
So does this mean we won’t make a BCS Bowl? Oh wait, this is the pros and this tool’s rankings are as meaningless as ours.
November 24th, 2015 at 11:14 am
Well I for one as will many of you, have to admit that at the beginning of the year if we were considered to be middle of the pack in NFL given our youth would have gladly taken that ranking. I do think that Peter King is a little out of touch, but to rank the Bucs as one of the top 15 teams in the NFL is a fair assessment IMO. Keep winning and let the chips fall where they may!! Go BUCS!
November 24th, 2015 at 11:14 am
Meh don’t care lol
Having us at 15 is respect. I assumed we would still be around 18-20 in most power rankings.
Let’s get to 6-5 boys!
November 24th, 2015 at 11:15 am
15th? Hmmm…..half way to the top in 10 games……hmmmm…..6 more to go……hmmmm…..Go Bucs!
November 24th, 2015 at 11:18 am
Shouldn’t that be…
What’s with this Yogi Berra-worshiping, urinal picture-taking, video game-playing, Taylor Swift-listening, pickpocket-thwarting, Bucs-uniform-frowning, Allie-LaForce-smitten, Big-Ten-Network-hating, pedestrian-bumping, olive oil-lapping, popcorn-munching, coffee-slurping, fried-chicken-eating, oatmeal-loving, circle-jerking, beer-chugging, cricket-watching, scone-loathing, college football-naïve, baseball-box-score-reading, NPR-honk, filthy-hotel-staying, fight-instigating, barista-training Peter King, NFL lord of Sports Illustrated, NBC Sports and TheMMQB?
November 24th, 2015 at 11:20 am
Well, Houston did beat us earlier this year
Agree basically with everyone else, that these power rankings don’t mean jack. That being said, this team is 4-2 in their last 6. Hard to argue with that
November 24th, 2015 at 11:40 am
It’s a 2 game win streak!! We as fans are excited after seeing loser Lovies ineptitude but the national media is not so easily impressed. Respect is earned so go earn it with W’s
November 24th, 2015 at 11:45 am
Interesting stats..
Bucs D is still 26th in points allowed, inflated by a couple huge games / offensive Turnovers for TDs.
Bucs D is 13th in yards allowed.
Bucs D tied for 8th in yards per play given up (5.2 yards). I found this interesting considering the defenses better than the Bucs in this category are:
1. Denver 2. Carolina 3. Seattle 4. NY J 5. St Louis 6. Kansas City 7. Arizona
This stat seems to correlate pretty well to the top defenses in the league. I don’t see any good defensive teams in the bottom 15.
Keeping it “REAL” lol
November 24th, 2015 at 11:46 am
King I have two words for u…Shut up!..
November 24th, 2015 at 12:05 pm
So we went from the first draft pick to about the 17th at this point…..if we aren’t careful….we’ll lose out on the chase for Bosa.
Power rankings are always past performance based……Philadelphia probably looked at them last week and figured…..we beat the Bucs…..
November 24th, 2015 at 12:14 pm
With all the penalties and the way the Bucs have given away some games, it is hard to argue. Hopefully, the Bucs will continue to move forward, but will it surprise anyone if penalties and defensive struggles re-emerge to cost us victories? ASJ may or may not ever be back, and V-Jax could go down again. Kwon is about to miss 4 games, and GMC has played subpar at times, prob due to health.
The Bucs could make a playoff run for sure, but King is justified in his ranking this week.
If the Bucs play 2 dominant games in a row, then I would expect he changes his tune. The Philly game could be a fluke. We won 2 games in a row, but almost lost to the Romo-less Dallas Cowboys, btw.
It’s hard to say King is wrong at this moment in time.
November 24th, 2015 at 1:38 pm
Sounds like sour grapes to me.
November 24th, 2015 at 1:42 pm
NFL.com has us ranked #13. Look, I don’t blame anyone for not giving us respect yet, we have to earn that. We are on our way, yes…but we are not in the same league yet as the Panthers, Bengals, Patriots, Packers, Broncos, etc. These teams make a career out of multiple win streaks and do it routinely. We are trending up but we’re not there yet. We are darn close and next year is going to be the year we hit the ground running. I can still see the possibility of a playoff run this year if we continue to play sound football and get healthy again with Marpet and ASJ back. We showed Sunday that we can play with anybody and be competitive but until we can shut down a QB like Brady we’ll be out of real contention. I think we’re an edge rusher away.
November 24th, 2015 at 1:57 pm
The Bucs were in the high-20’s just a few weeks ago. it takes some time for the national media to see what the local fans see. This defense has rebounded, the rookie QB is playing great, the running game is strong, and this team is roaring in the right direction.
November 24th, 2015 at 2:13 pm
The Bucs beat Dallas and Philadelphia in back to back games. That’s improvement. Winning a wild card spot realistically will require the Bucs to not lose another game.
November 24th, 2015 at 3:08 pm
Peter King is a Dbag.
November 24th, 2015 at 4:43 pm
He has always hated the Bucs so this is not news.
November 24th, 2015 at 6:31 pm
Peter Pauper has always said critical things about our Bucs. I trust him about as much as I do..OJ Simpson. We are 5-5. a 500 team right now. But if we can win the next 2 out of 3..we will be in the hunt for sure. Our Bucs are really improving weekly right in front of our eyes. You never know….They just might make all of the BFL so called Guru’s eat their words. That would make our season!
November 24th, 2015 at 9:03 pm
Joe – Thanks for not running the absurd 22 link Peter King intro this time.
Can you go for “2 wins in a row” in this regard?
November 24th, 2015 at 11:19 pm
It’s quite simple. That mens room trolling codfish is an asshole. That simple.
November 25th, 2015 at 5:21 am
to be fair Houston did beat us… we were garbage then, but so were they.
November 25th, 2015 at 5:32 am
Yeah Mo the Bucs lost to Houston; we can hang that one on whoever signed off on Brinzda over Barth as IMHO the Bucs would have won that game if Barth was the PK. I guess we will never know the culprit: O’Dea, Lovie, Licht or someone from above telling l&L to save a few benjamins by going with the rookie kid from ND….
Back to King: dude has never gave the Bucs any respect; you can bet that he bet the under on the o/u total for wins with Tampa which i believe was around 6 or so….. The Yahoo powere rankings also have the bucs as the 2nd worst 5-5 team but they do have the texans slotted one spot below them with the Bucs 18th and the Texans 19th with the ATL at 17 and Dallas at 16; Dallas at 3-7 #16???? Yahoo writer has to be Romo homer!

I’m glad to see Buc nation upset about little things like power rankings. Last couple of years man have been tough. Even if we lose out guys ,this year has been fun and exciting (that will tell you how bad we’ve had it). Buc nation has never had a franchise QB and now he is here!!!!!!!!
