Joe has plenty to write about today’s return of Vincent Jackson but first must share a 1-on-1 moment with V-Jax in the happy Bucs’ locker room of Lincoln Financial Field.
Jackson isn’t always the most candid guy. So Joe asked the Bucs’ veteran receiver to really cut through the BS and explain to fans why he thinks this Buccaneers team is good and can win this season.
Jackson played in the AFC Championship game with San Diego. He knows what it looks like.
Joe started talking and Jackson cut Joe off and escalated his voice.
“Oh, man, because we believe. You gotta start there. This team believes,” Jackson said. “We have the coaching staff here, the players here that can get it done. I’ve been around a lot of good players, a lot of good teams. We have every piece of the puzzle that we need to be a winning football team. We just have to put one together each and every week. The sky is the limit when it comes to how we can finish this season.”
Joe can’t put into words the passion in Jackson’s voice.
And V-Jax was fired up earlier with other reporters talking about how he was back off his knee injury and don’t dare suggest he’s anything less than 100 percent in the mix.
“I expect to be involved. When I’m out there, I’m not just going to be a decoy. Ever,” Jackson said. “I’m on the field, I’m going to play and make plays.”

GhostofSchiano…I went to Publix with my JW jersey on (thanks Erik) after the game. I had 4 people stop me to tell me what a helluva QB we have on our hands. First guy said “That kid had a great game today, 5 TD’s”. Next one was a chick at the deli who said she wanted my jersey. The next guy said “wow what a game Winston had today.” The next one was the cashier who asked “Did the Bucs win?” My reply was “they crushed the Eagles, Martin ran for over 250 yards and Winston threw for 5 TD’s and they won 45-17.” She put her hands on her hips and looked at me like I was making it up. So I said “no lie” grabbed my receipt and walk out the door proud.
I’m wearing this jersey all over town all week long. Just to hear what people say.

It’s gonna be a great week for me. I have a Dougie jersey and a Winston jersey. I think I’ll alternate them the rest of the week.

I truly believe that we have turned the corner. At this point, this team is fully taking on tge personality of our Alpha male Jameis Winston and we are going manifest success through positive mental attitudes, hardwork, and drive. If I was placing bets right now, I would bet on 10-6 or 11-5 with a deep playoff run…. Seriously, (like vjax said) our potential is unlimited now

VJAX will be back don’t worry. He’s already a multimillionaire and he loves Tampa and all the guys at McDill. He’s made himself a distinct member of our community because he calls this home and plans to retire here.
He’ll give Licht a hometown discount. He’s been here through the lean he won’t wish to leave for a few scheckels more. We have such needs on defense no way we waste a top pick on a star WR and VJAX has 1-3 more productive years if he can stay healthy. And who would you rather have in the locker room?
And bottom line VJAX is a very smart man and knows who butters his bread. Notice he was one of the very first to embrace #3 and has had #3’s back since the preseason. #3 loves VJAX and any receiver loved by the straw that stirs the drink…#3…is not going anywhere.

87, I appreciate the sentiment and kind words. Maybe one day….
I’m just so excited about the development of this team and I truly believe Winston is the savior of our franchise.
I don’t think Lovie (or anyone) is going to be going anywhere. Jameis saved everyone.
I wanted a coach with more passion and fire, personally, but now that we have Winston to lead us and be our Alpha male, we don’t need to rely on a coach to rally the team and motivate everyone.
Lovie just needs to continue his smart aggression with his play calling and in-game decision making and keep the D overall playing well and then he (and everyone else, players and coaches) will hopefully be here for a long time and we will build a Dynasty.
