Doug Martin: 941 Yards In 10 Games

November 22nd, 2015
DougMartin Philly

Seconds after racking up his 240th yard rushing against the Eagles today, Doug Martin was studying film. This is a Bucs offense dedicated to perfection.

What the hell can Joe say? The Bucs have a punishing running game, behind a totally revitalized offensive line and a bell cow running back that shook the NFL this afternoon with 235 yards on 27 carries.

Doug Martin, Lord Muscle Hamster himself, was clearly on a mission in Philadelphia this afternoon. He was running hard from the opening whistle, and even turned sure losses into small gains. He was grinding for every inch.

Today’s heroics weren’t just a case of a couple of monster runs, Martin was hammering away for a little over three quarters. That’s all the time he needed.

Martin now has a stunning 941 yards through just 10 games. Think about that for a minute.

It’s going to be quite an offseason for the 26-year-old free-agent-to-be, if he can keep the chains moving and stay healthy for six more games. Or more?

too bad the bucs didn’t pick up that option…

  2. Captain Crunch Says:

Good game from Martin, only thing i don’t like is that sometimes it seems like they try and force Sims in the game when Martin is hot. Nothing against Sims but IMO he hesitates too much at the line while Martin hits the hole right away.

    Awesome team effort!

The real reason the Bucs destroyed the Eagles. Even in the modern NFL the team who can run the ball at will usually wins. I know Joe will give all the credit and 20 articles about how Jameis won the game but when you have a running back destroying you play after play you have to focus on stopping the run first, which in turn softens up the pass defense to allow the wide receivers to get single coverage. Don’t believe me just watch the game and look at the coverage on them. I can’t count how many catches where the receivers were wide open, even the guys calling the game pointed that out. Great job Dougie!

WRONG Jamarcus…you must be drinking too much of the “purple”

When VJAX got his TD he WAS wide open on the slant. But the point they made was questioning why the Eagles didn’t chuck our two big receivers at the line of scrimmage. The TD throw to Sims was into double coverage…the fade in the end zone to ME for that TD was well covered and required a great pass…same for the TD to Russell Shepherd.

Haters seem to watch only the highlights that back up their perverted opinons without ever giving credit for the plays that prove them incorrect.

Football is a team sport. It works best when the running and passing game work well. You can run to set up the pass and you can pass to set up the run..
Any one dimensional team is in trouble.

    They can always franchise him.

Why do some Bucs fans always try to find something negative to say? JAMARCUS

  19. godzilla13 Says:

The “Pit Bull” was outstanding today!! Gosder Cherilus needs to get those penalties under control. Playoff teams do not make those type of penalties!

  20. Warren Says:

Why perpetuate the nickname the guy HATES…even after an impossibly huge game like this? If a few fans do it fine, that’s up to them. But as a site with inside access, you’re going to pay by not getting the quotes or interviews you want from the guy. Food for thought

LVD day say team mates are calling him Douganaut I’m calling him Douganaut 941 yards rushing man can be called whatever he pleases.

  22. Rod Says:

Hope they can keep him – its not like they have any cap issues which would prevent it. However you must keep in mind this is the first time he’s been healthy in years, so do you pay him for his 1st and 4th years? Players generally don’t give discounts for missing huge parts of seasons and the Bucs might be hesitant to pay him like he’s been a star for 4 years.

  23. SCBucsFan Says:

    @godzilla

Gos had like one penalty, I think. EDS was the one who kept getting penalties.
