“I’m Going To Bounce Back; I’m Not No Chump.”
November 13th, 2015Social media wasn’t filled with virtual pats on the back for Mike Evans following his historic six drops against the Giants on Sunday.
Last night, Evans talked about public reaction — and his reaction — on the Buccaneers Radio Network.
“I’m involved in my social media accounts. I see some of what people are saying, you know, the good and the bad,” Evans said.
“Some guys are encouraging me and I appreciate it. You know, a lot of people bad mouth me, of course. And I guess it’s deserved. It’s well deserved. I mean, I had a terrible, one of the worst in NFL history that I’ve seen. But it is what it is. I’m going to bounce back. I’m not no chump. You know what I’m saying. I’m not going to not play. I’m going to give it my all, all the time. I appreciate everyone that’s looking out for me, and I appreciate the people that’s getting on me, as well.”
Joe can only imagine the hate flung Evans’ way this week on Twitter. Fans freaked out when Michael Clayton dropped two passes a game. Six by Evans might have been too much for some to handle maturely.
Joe sure hopes Evans snaps out of his funk. He’s really out of excuses and rope. Catch the ball. You’re a wide receiver.

Maybe his subconscious brain is making him drop balls so it can get a real head coach.

I like mike evans and wish him well but there has been something a little off with him since training camp. Not sure I can put my finger on it but he’s looked a little bit disinterested at times. Maybe the bad game with drops was a wake up call for him. Jameis needs Evans

It’s hard to bad mouth Evans effort and overall play. His presence is crucial. Mike you are still the beast around Bucsville.

I could seriously go on and on and on with these old Clayton quotes…the bottom line is this
Evans, we have heard all of this before. Perform or shut up
November 13th, 2015 at 11:01 am
Uh oh!!! Here we go again with the double negatives… “I’m not no chump” translation “I’m a chump”… After you practice catching the ball go study some English books Mike…
November 13th, 2015 at 11:08 am
Eff that!! If I was in his shoes or anyone semi famous, I’d stay the hell off that sewer called twitter. These guys get death threats and told to kill themselves over the dumbest reasons. It’s bad enough your own fan base does it but now because of fantasy football, even Stinkin Panther fans do it if you have a bad day.

We all know that Mike Evans can catch the ball….last year was good evidence…..I believe he will be fine…..
At least he didn’t blame his drops on Lovie…..because we all know that they are Lovie’s fault.
November 13th, 2015 at 11:19 am
Using double negatives = sure sign of a chump. Get out there and catch the ball and stop whining so much on the field as well
November 13th, 2015 at 11:24 am
@bucrightoff
His whining is Lovie’s fault…..don’t blame Mike
November 13th, 2015 at 11:50 am
He’s Lovies first draft pick. He needs to get it together. The skill level and talent are there. But until he becomes a consistent, reliable receiver. There will always be doubters.
November 13th, 2015 at 11:51 am
He needs to shut up and just perform. Same for ASJ and the entire defense. Bucs fans are being asked to be patient while having to listen to the awful excuses week after week.

No more SAVAGE MIKE. Catch the MF ball.
November 13th, 2015 at 12:51 pm
These radio programs would be pretty boring if they did not talk.

This whole team, not just Mike, has taken the identity of its coach. Mentally weak, mistake prone, passionless and forgetable. I dont expect much to change as long as Lovie is coach. I just hope Winston can somehow stay the way he is and not let Lovie ruin him.

Mentally weak, mistake prone, passionless and forgetable.
Mentally weak, mistake prone and forgettable I agree with.
But I think this team has played with passion. I think the infusion of the right young guys has really helped.
I admire Evans response. NO whining…no putting down his critics…just acceptance that he turned in a bad performance and NEEDS to improve.
It’s a great attitude. But wait…many here post that there is no accountability and the players are simply a reflection of Lovie and excuse makers. Really?
I just don’t see that. If anything I’ve never seen a group of football players…hockey players yes…but football players no…take this much responsibility. #3 after games has been totally standup and even accepted responsibility for things that were not even his fault.
I wasn’t thrilled to hear ME mention the rain after the game, but since then, and certainly with these comments he’s been a standup guy. I wish him the best personally and for the Buc’s sake.
Just think…we could have had Hardy going off on our coaches other players and beating up the ladies…but NOOOOO we had to mess it up and lose him to the “highly respected” Jerry Jones.

You had to go and say the “H” word! I want that POS to feel pain in the worst way from our Oline this Sunday.
I agree to the fact that Evans main issue right now is focus … not sure if it is his mind working ahead of the catch or something else, but I am glad he is taking a bit of ownership. Now let’s see it put in action this weekend! Go Bucs!!! Go Jameis!!!
November 13th, 2015 at 4:46 pm
Evans, ASJ and GMC–
Need to stop talking in the media and do their talking ON the field with action/hard play at critical times….everything off the field is hot air, irrelevant, and simply garbage.
November 13th, 2015 at 5:24 pm
You have to consider that Evans is trying to do to much, not concentrating because quite frankly we have no other receiver out their. It is a possibility. Evans will be just fine. I suspect that he will go OFF on the Cowboys sunday to prove his doubters wrong and to prove to himself that he is capable of going into beast mode.
November 13th, 2015 at 5:34 pm
Yes Winston is the main source of passion from this team. I can’t dispute that and thats why I said I hope he doesnt change. I love his attitude and we need more like him.
November 13th, 2015 at 5:37 pm
Go get them Mike!!!
Ignore the bad comments unless it’s motivating.
Fans get a little crazy. You guys have a great offense in the making.
November 13th, 2015 at 5:55 pm
Sounds like he’s got the right attitude about all the drops. I’m sure no one is more disappointed in the drops and bad results than Mike himself is. Just trust your QB to get you catchable balls and put all your focus on looking the ball into your hands and securing it Big Mike – forget about the defenders – forget about your next move – just catch the balls you can get your hands on and the big plays will take care of themselves.
November 13th, 2015 at 9:04 pm
“I’m not no chump.”— sorry to break it to you Mike, but you just called yourself a chump! ” not no” is a double negative!!!
November 13th, 2015 at 11:11 pm
He’ll bounce back. Whatever is going on will pass. Although I remember us saying the same things about Josh at one time….

On the last drop, the camera caught it perfectly. He extended both arms in front, fingertips upwards. When the perfectly thrown ball was in flight, he rotated his right hand inward at an uncomfortable angle making it almost impossible to catch the ball cleanly.
He subconsciously made an unnecessary adjustment. It will only get worse if he doesn’t see a sport’s shrink or has his eyesight checked thoroughly.
Now he has the heebee jeebees bad.
