Bucs Cut Loaf Jennings

Gone.
Not even playing for Lovie Smith in Chicago was enough to save Bucs cornerback Loaf Jennings. The veteran was sliced from the Tampa Bay roster last night.
On a team (not including Johnthan Banks and newcomer Hey Jude) with some really bad cornerbacks, Loaf was atop the list, giving up on plays and simply getting roasted like Thanksgiving turkey on a regular basis before getting benched three weeks ago.
Loaf was replaced on the roster by the Bucs activating right tackle Demar Dotson.
It seems Lovie finally figured out what John Fox did in August, when he cut Jennings despite the Bears owing him more than $4 million.

Cutting Loaf is no loss, but now I’m concerned. Does activating Dots indicate that the Bucs think Ali Marpet will miss significant playing time with his bum ankle? We’re also down to 5 CBs, which I think is significant on a team that plays 3 CBs as much as we do.

The bottom line is very simple the Head Coach / Defensive Coordinator is NOT getting the most out of the talent he has on the roster or making the necessary adjustments to achieve maximum results from the talent he currently has. Everything else is just BS excuses to justify a horrible coaching job. We have been hearing for nearly 2 years lovie needs his people, yet all of Lovie’s hand picked Defensive free agents that were familiar and great fits for his defense have failed. McDonald is the only player who actually has worked out and he is on IR. Stop with the excuses lovie needs this and lovie needs that. Lovie can’t coach and is either too stubborn to make adjustments or incapable of making adjustments. Yes, it was nice to see him leave his comfort zone and blitz a few times, yes it was nice to see him go for a 4th down however, in the grand scheme of things (no pun intended) Lovie has failed to adjust his system to maximize the strengths of his star players by putting them in the best situation to succeed. It’s a one trick pony scenario do it my way, my way works regardless. That is all you need to know why the Lovie smith experiment in Tampa HAS FAILED! The players are not buying in and the more players he benches and tosses under the bus because of his bad decisions will only lead to more players tuning him out.

Ladies and gents, the reason our defense is not that great is we need GOOD players. Pretty obvious, right? Now, if YOU were Lovie, and all you had to choose from were crappy free agents and crappy free agents that are familiar to your system, who are you going to pick up? Exactly. We’ve had two drafts for offense and we ended up with an offense that is exciting to watch. The one defensive pick we made is doing pretty well. I can’t wait to see how our defense will look once we get our boss defensive draft. We still have 8 games left too. I’m excited to see how the second half of the year pans out.

The only thing that makes this better than the usual failed experiment, is that aside from the wasted guaranteed $ we didn’t have to trade a draft pick.

@tmaxcon…theres nothing wrong with lovie or defense…the team as a whole had zero talent when lovie got hired last year…I remember the previous coach released a bunch of good players and signed his former college players…I think the plan lovie and licht have for this organization is to build a winning culture by drafting your players to fit your system…we see what 2 drafts for the offense has done..made our offense look like an nfl offense..now its obvious that they must focus on the defense for the next 2 draft classes and there you have it…the key to this whole situation is for the team to continue improving and progressing which is clearly being done and continue to hit on early draft picks…lets not forget that this team is still pretty young with the exception of a few players…with all that being said we should still be at the very worst 5-3, but im not complaining because this team has looked better and better each week and far better than last year…GO BUCS!!!

I still have a difficult time understanding how Lovie takes Tim Jennings over Charles Tillman? It just goes on and on with bad player personnel decisions. Say what you want, our offense lost the Giants game for us. If Lovie wants to build chemistry then leave the secondary alone and quit rotating players in and out.

There’s been some inconsistent corner play, but rewatch the Giants game and tell me Moore and Verner are “really bad.” They were rock solid when OBJ faced them in coverage. The LBers continue to be the main cause of the soft intermediate of this defense.
Can someone tell me what the actual f–k happened to Lavonte?

He was a risk for sure , he certainly lost his touch for sure , that all being said its not his fault entirely . His safeties never played correctly then again nobody has . Entire secondary needs a makeover and a new secondary coach. Buhhh bye Tampa 2 , buhhh bye Gil Byrd
