Dream Come True For Jude Adjei-Barimah

Joe’s not all negative on the Bucs like other media. Joe loves celebrating success, such as the undrafted rookie starting at cornerback yesterday.

He is the pride of Bowling Green, Jude Adjei-Barimah.

Who?

He was cut after training camp, landed on the practice squad and was part of Lovie Smith’s big secondary shakeup yesterday that included benching cornerbacks Johnthan Banks and Mike Jenkins.

And you know what? Adjei-Barimah played pretty darn well. He also played a ton of snaps. Fatigue was not going to be an issue.

“I’m not coming out of the game, man. This is my dream,” Adjei-Barimah. “This is what I want to do. If I’m healthy, and probably if I’m not, I want to go,” Adjei-Barimah said. “It sunk in during the intro, hearing your name called and running through the smoke. But other than that, whether you start or come in in relief, the expectations is the same for the position. I’m always trying to play to a high standard.

“I felt I played ok. We’ll watch the film and go from there.

Adjei-Barimah finished his first NFL start with two solo tackles and four assists, including a bone-crushing hit. Joe would be stunned if he doesn’t start again Sunday.

Lovie has said he’s seeking a combination, and yesterday, Adjei-Barimah and Sterling Moore were an upgrade from what was seen in Atlanta.

Why was Banks benched? Let me guess bc of the TD last week that Conte gave up?

  2. Miguel Grande Says:

It would have been a more successful debut if he had covered the Giant’s receiver in the corner of the endzone instead of abandoning his DB duties to help #30 and #54 prevent Michael Vick errr Eli Manning from running in for a score.

Rookies make mistakes but Lavonte is hopefully capable of stopping Eli one on one.

Heeyyy Juuude!! Don’t be a afraid! Way to step up AND EARN THAT JOB SON!!!

  4. Mort Says:

Should be Moore and banks, but whatever. Verner still got hosed by not getting any slot time in TC and then throwing him into the fire mid-season.

  5. Supersam Says:

Banks has been garbage for quite some time now, I’m not sure what you guys are looking at on tv but the dude is constantly getting beat. And isn’t a very good tackler either, I think Lovie puts a huge emphasis on his corners being able to tackle. That being said I thought Sterling Moore played a great game and Jude as well.

take a sad song and make it better!

    THIS RIGHT HERE.

Any ASJ apologist hasn’t played collective sports, and if you did, you weren’t good.

“This is what I want to do. If I’m healthy, and probably if I’m not, I want to go,” Adjei-Barimah said.

  8. bculaw Says:

A player that says he is willing to play even when he is injured? Maybe some of that will rub off on ASJ (henceforth known as “Always Soft” Jenkins).

  9. DraftJameis Says:

If Lovie is around next year (likely) I am already dreading the crowd that will be clamoring to draft Hargreaves. He is a total misfit for the Tampa 2 because he can’t tackle.

Miguel…agree totally with the first part of your statement and if “hopefully” is the main word in your second part then I agree with that.

Because watching the way LVD has tackled this year always has me holding my breath and HOPING.

We can talk systems…we can talk using LVD improperly…but it’s not Lovie whiffing on those tackles. And so when LVD is in perfect position and simply whiffs on the tackle whose fault is that? Because I’ve seen that a BUNCH this year. I like LVD as a person…and certainly respect the play he had put on video…UNTIL this year…his play has gone in the toilet and missing tackles is not on the coach or system.

I respect the posters here who are not Lovie fans. I get it. But you need to chill and get some perspective and balance. The bashing of Lovie has given the players waaaaaaay too much credit and lack of accountability.

  11. Brad Says:

Miguel, that wasn’t the CBs guy. He passed him off to the safety, Keith Tandy, who was covering, well, no one. The CB had to take the other uncovered WR to the inside. Corner zone belonged to Tandy and he blew the cover.

  12. Fire_Lousy_Smith Says:

Would be another feather for Licht and the front office if this UDFA remains a starter or valuable backup.

  13. 813bucboi Says:

@draftjameis…Hargreaves is the best overall cb in college football…he always sticks his nose in there and makes a hit…who do you suppose we get? j.ramsey…if we cant get VHGIII then m. alexander from Clemson is a great option… both better players than ramsey…GO BUCS!!!

  14. Rpicolo Says:

M Alexander is a better player than Ramsey? How many all 12 snaps of both players did you examine before you came to this conclusion? Hargreaves can cover, but he is a little guy.

Sterling Moore (100% snaps) and Alterraun Verner (72% snaps) each had their best games of the season. Manning was 5 of 10 for 59 yards and two interceptions when Beckham Jr. was covered by either Moore or Verner. Adjei-Barimah got 97% of the snaps and played surprisingly well. What most people did not realize is that Keith Tandy played 77% snaps in place of Bradley McDougald who only had 23%. Tandy finished with 8 tackles. Alterraun Verner’s interception was a thing of beauty. He saw the route Beckham Jr. was running and then he did something the other players need to take notice. When teams run the same plays over and over again you should be able to jump the route and not bite or wait on play action. Our LB will stay in there stance waiting to react to play action. By the time they determine its a pass they are a step behind the receiver. Seems like every time LVD is in coverage he is right there on his area of responsibility, just a step late.
