Akeem Spence Said He Was Punched
November 8th, 2015The Bucs were clinging to hope. They had just kicked a field goal with 7:24 left to come within 23-18.
If the Bucs could hold the Giants on the next possession, it would set Tampa Bay up for a potential winning touchdown drive.
The Giants had just convered a third down and had first down on their own 34 when Akeem Spence was called for unnecessary roughing. It gave the Giants a critical first down at midfield and would lead to a field goal.
As he came off the field, Lovie Smith, in a rare public fit of anger, grabbed Spence and unloaded on him as caught on TV. After the game, Spence took full blame for losing his cool, claiming he was punched in the face and his emotions took over.
“As a player, I can’t react like that,” Spence said. “I can’t react, even to that situation. I felt like I was in the right. I felt like I was provoked. I was punched in the face but I reacted in the wrong way. I have to keep my composure and my cool and I cost my defense.”
Spence wouldn’t go into detail what Lovie was told him when the TV cameras caught him, other than to say he needs to keep calm.

Selfish idiot! Fire his enabling coach tonight
November 8th, 2015 at 8:37 pm
What a DUMB POS!! His penalty was so DUMB even LOVIE got FIRED UP on the sidelines and HE NEVER GETS FIRED UP!!! He is about to get benched for being such a b!tch! The loss of McDonald haunts us!

The way I feel right now, give me the guy who punched him address. I’ll take care of it. I’m really mad about this loss. Cant remember ever feeling like this after a loss before! What’s his address 🙂

Hey! what’s up with taking my screen name?
November 8th, 2015 at 8:51 pm
We never had a chance to win that game so stop whining.
November 8th, 2015 at 8:52 pm
Easy folks… Spence made a mistake… There were multiple reasons we lost another game today…
November 8th, 2015 at 8:52 pm
They better be watching the damn Cowboys game right now! I’m sick of the excuses! The defense needs to grow a pair and the offense needs to stop settling for field goals. “Simple as that”.
November 8th, 2015 at 8:53 pm
Next time put the guy on his ass Spence if ur gonna get the penalty make it a good one.The game was lost long before that.
November 8th, 2015 at 8:55 pm
Spence is an idiot, but it was far from the reason we lost the game. Wasting timeouts and kicking field goals every time you have a first and goal will lose you alot of games.
November 8th, 2015 at 8:55 pm
It all adds up to a loss…..a stupid penalty….dropped pass…..missed FG….fumbles…..weak pass rush…..missed coverage…..but the most inexcusable is the stupid penalties.
November 8th, 2015 at 8:55 pm
Of course he was punched. The whole Defense was punched just like they usually are when we don’t win. Spence Penalty was not the reason we lost. We lost because our Defense is sporadic. They at times play ok. But not good enough to punch an offense out. The only way we win is to win the shootout. Cause our Defense cannot stop a sink leak..even with a certified plummer. Not to worry though, we always play better after an A..Whippin. Lookout Dallas.

Hey nbf.
I addressed this issue with your earlier. Several days ago. I told you I didn’t understand how such a thing happened, asked if it was a problem with you, and if so, I would become nbf2. I missed your reply if you even saw my post and or even responded to it. consequently, I just rolled on as nbf.

Soft, mentally weak, makes costly mistakes. Sounds like a perfect Lovie Smith defensive player

The Bucs redzone offense lost this game…
November 8th, 2015 at 9:00 pm
“You” not your..
November 8th, 2015 at 9:02 pm
at least his hair looks great
November 8th, 2015 at 9:03 pm
I was never claiming that I thought that penalty cost us the game, if that’s what you’re implying. Don’t f with me, I’m really not in the mood after this loss!! I should just go to bed I guess 🙂 long disappointing day!
November 8th, 2015 at 9:03 pm
Stop with the excuses and make a play
November 8th, 2015 at 9:06 pm
didn’t see it that post nbf,
But it would be cool if you would add the #2 appreciate it

How people are putting this loss on Lovie is beyond me. The D played well GMC doing nothing as usual. I mean we were just giving the ball away all day and they still held them under 30 AND took the ball away twice. This game is on the shoulders of the Mike Evans. Oh yeah you can throw Doug Martin in there to with his fumble and dropped deep pass.
November 8th, 2015 at 9:07 pm
There hasn’t been this much excitement for the Bucs in a while and after a season 1/2 some of you want Lovie gone for all that is wrong with the bucs/world. The way some of you complain you’d think Lovie walked into a denver bronco type situation.
November 8th, 2015 at 9:09 pm
Better?
November 8th, 2015 at 9:11 pm
The team is growing, I repeat GROWING!
Give it time rookie qb no wr besides evans, rooks on the oline, no de or cb/s to speak of. But they are still keeping games close enough to win, give it time (rome wasn’t built in a day)
November 8th, 2015 at 9:29 pm
yes a bone-headed move much like some of Gholstons penalties, but part of me likes to see these guys playing with an edge. We were able to draft these two in the late rounds because the label on Spence was that he was just a workout warrior and Gholston had the physical tools but not the temperament. Apparently Joe Cullen is doing a good job pushing the right buttons. Now if we can only mix in a little common sense
November 8th, 2015 at 9:32 pm
Patience everyone! Things take time! Lovie is 5-21 with only one home win and we have only had one wining season in the last 3 head coaches of this team. But hang in there and be patient and little longer because there making progress.
November 8th, 2015 at 10:29 pm
We need another wr target period. Jameis is doing all he can with what he has but we badly need ASJ or Vjax now! Maybe we should call up welker I’m sure he’s ready.
November 8th, 2015 at 11:40 pm
It’s just a common theme, the “culture”, they have. In pivotal moments thru the game you just see mindless mistakes. What’s Mankins doing jumping off sides, at home! Or McCoy w a neutral zone infraction. Idk where their minds are but they’re not on the game and winning.
November 8th, 2015 at 11:56 pm
That penalty was the ballgame folks. Bad use of timeouts as well. The injury bug is also starting to take a toll on the team.
November 8th, 2015 at 11:56 pm
The Bucs are doing so well, now we have TWO new Bucs fans!
November 9th, 2015 at 2:24 am
The Bucs are the best at “what if”. No team is better.
What if – The offense converted in the red zone? (1 -4) Extra 12 points.
What if – Mike Evans catch’s the ball? Winston gets 300+ yards.
What if – No penalties?
What if – No fumbles?
What if – Vincent Jackson, Clinton McDonald, Austin Seferian-Jenkins and Jacquies Smith were not injured?
What if – Gerold McCoy and Lavonte David were GMC and LVD?
Every week is the same “what if”. It is getting old. If Evans played for the Patriots do you think he would still be on the team? Fine the players for penalties. Practice red zone plays over and over again until they can convert in their sleep.
