Corner Shakeup Effective
November 8th, 2015Hats off to Lovie Smith for shaking up the Bucs’ sour cornerback play.
Lovie stunned Tampa Bay fans by starting Sterling Moore and Jude Adjei-Barimah.
Johnthan Banks and Mike Jenkins got benched. Tim Jennings was reactivated but only seemed to get special teams duty.
Moore, a free agent pickup from the Cowboys this offseason, picked off Eli Manning’s first pass and set up the Bucs’ first score and had a key pass break up late, and made some other plays. He’s sure to start next week. His pick was the first interception by a Buccaneers cornerback this year.
Adjei-Barimah sure looked a lot better than Jenkins. And he flashed a little with his tackling.
Joe’s not sure if there was any sort of punishment going on with Banks and Jenkins. But Joe highly doubts it. Lovie’s been talking about finding the right combination for weeks.

Sterling Moore should have been starting for a while! Bad coaching and bad evaluating and choosing favorites is creating missed opportunities to win. Hope Sterling starts cause he deserved it for a while now

Took him long enough! The two cbs who intercepted passes have been relegated to nothing for 7 games by loser Lovie who is now 5-19 as the Bucs coach

Moore and banks should be our starters

Best defensive effort of the year. Let the no names and rooks play. They appear to have the necessary passion to compete every play. That includes Adam Humphries who seems to play fast, and he catches the ball. Same with Cam Brate. It just feels like we are right there. Gotta turn the corner.

Give Lovie a new six-year extension!!

These guys stepped up and played decent!! It was a HELL OF A LOT BETTER THAN SEEING Mike Jenkins out there!!!

@Bucs Fan Since ’76 … “Best defensive effort of the year.”
@Joe … “Hats off to Lovie Smith for shaking up the Bucs’ sour cornerback play.”
Did y’all go to the same game that I did? That was pretty close to the Bucs worst defensive effort all season. They had ZERO pass rush all game. The DEs never even sniffed Manning. LB play was pretty close to as bad as I’ve seen all season. And the CBs? Our CBs were laying off so far that the Giants receivers kept catching the ball in front of them all game … time after time after time. And I still don’t have a clue what our safeties were doing … every time I’d key on one of them for a couple of plays I had no idea what they were trying to accomplish.
The only thing that kept the Giants down to 32 points is the fact that their game plan was even more conservative than ours (and that’s saying a lot). They were perfectly content to nickel-and-dime us to death with short-to-medium range throws over the middle (once again we couldn’t stop that junk) and also throws to the flats (couldn’t stop those either). Manning had only 213 yds passing on 26 completions … barely 8 yds/catch (and that includes YAC). But it was plenty to rack up 24 first downs and keep the ball for 35 mins in the game.
So please, no praise for the Bucs defense. They basically let the Giants move up and down the field at will, eating up the clock as they went. Evidence? The Giants punted ONCE in the whole game. ONCE. When the Bucs had 4th-and-10 around midfield with 5 or so mins left, I was praying that Lovie would let Jameis go for it. But noooo … he punted and put the game in the hands of our D once again. And once again, our defense couldn’t stop them. Go figure.

As a TB fan, Adjei-Barimah should get some more chances to shine. He’s a young, willing to tackle CB that is much needed

There hasn’t been this much excitement for the Bucs in a while and after a season 1/2 some of you want Lovie gone for all that is wrong with the bucs/world. The way some of you complain you’d think Lovie walked into a denver bronco type situation.

Good coaching; poor talent.

Keep trying to find the right cornerbacks while your DEs stink the joint up. The same reason McCoy is ineffective and the same reason our secondary looks like trash is because we get no pressure from the DEs. That’s the biggest problem, not the cornerbacks. Our secondary will continue to get burned if QB’s can sit back in the pocket for 5+ seconds. Common sense. You’re welcome.
