Bucs tight end Brandon Myers talks to Joe about Tom Coughlin’s likely reaction in preparation for the Bucs.

So what’s Giants head coach Tom Coughlin really doing behind the scenes after his defense allowed 52 points and lost by three Sunday against New Orleans?

Joe asked Bucs tight end Brandon Myers, who played for the Giants in 2013.

Myers caught 47 balls from Eli Manning that year (where did that production go?) and he’s confident he knows Coughlin’s reaction to the stunning 52-49 loss.

“You can’t expect something like that will happen to the Giants defense again,” Myers said. “If you watched [Coughlin’s] press conference, he wasn’t very happy. He’s a no-nonsense guy completely. So after something like that I’d imagine they’re getting extra film study and going right back to the fundamentals, re-teaching the way they want it done. Every team has to move past a loss, it’s one game, but he won’t take it lightly, and I expect their defense will bounce back.”

Joe asked Dirk Koetter whether he has to sort of take that Giants-Saints film with a grain of salt when preparing for a team that just allowed 52 points.

“They’ve played eight games, so they got a ton of film and trust me, they’ve played pretty well on defense at times,” Koetter said. “Drew Brees had a crazy hot day. They blew a couple coverages, just mental stuff more than physically – a guy getting beat. Drew Brees gets hot down there [in New Orleans] and had them rolling. I think that game was not the norm at all for the Giants’ defense and I’m sure we’ll have our hands full on Sunday.”

Joe’s not sure the Bucs offense will have its hands full. The Giants’ defense is reeling, and the Bucs’ offensive line is on a mission.

Where the Bucs will have their hands full is on defense. Joe can’t imagine they’ll have any answers, other than hoping for/banking on big plays.

Should be a fantastic game. I can hardly wait. I see you like the blooming Bucs chances Joe.

It will be interesting to see if JPP makes much an impact. Hopefully he doesn’t do squat!

  3. Buccfan37 Says:

Yeah, what a big dummy JPP. The club hand should greatly reduce his effectiveness.

Eli will go after Jenkins and Conte all day long w/ a slant here and there and the Bucs will lose. The Bucs are getting better and I think they want a repeat of last year not “tanking” but another high draft to help the team. And if the Bucs win in the process so be it. Starting a bunch of rookies, playing Jenkins and Conte when they are terrible, its like playing McCown instead of Glennon and saying its because it gives them the best chance to win.

Coughlin will coach rings around Lovie. Winston and the offense will look good and then be forced to watch Lovie’s vaunted defense get shredded in the 4th quarter.

So we should just mark this game down in the loss column before it is even played. Bunch of Giants fans. Que pasa New York hey hey.

As opposed to our HC who’s full of nonsense.

I love it when the camera catches Coughlin on the sideline with the look of disgust all over his face.

  9. Newbucsfan Says:

Let’s hope Bucs fans show up vocal. It would be a shame for JW to have to mentally trick myself into thinking the New York crowd is screaming for him! Let’s go Bucs fans!!

Didn’t Eli throw for 500 yards against us when we had Freeman?
