Part of Lovie Smith’s development plan for Jameis Winston, America’s Quarterback, was to overload him mentality; find his capacity for information and then dial things back.
Well, Jameis proved to have endless gigabytes in his dome.
And that’s one giant reason why Jameis is the unquestioned leader of the Buccaneers: his teammates respect how much he absorbs, processes and executes as a 21-year-old.
“It just blows my mind how much they put on his plate,” starting center Joe Hawley said last week on the Buccaneers Radio Network.
Again, it’s not just about Jameis playing solid football. It’s about looking and acting like a seasoned veteran. These are Vincent Jackson’s words, not Joe’s.
Offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter went out of his way to remind media last week just how much Jameis is mastering.
“Jameis has had success. We tend to forget this guy has won a Heisman Trophy, won a national championship [and has] been the first pick in the draft. I salute Jameis on his ability to handle [success],” Koetter said. “None of us in this room [has had all the things thrown at them] that he has had thrown at him and he handles it good. Jameis is a super teammate. I think when you say handling stuff, one thing he’s done a great job of handling is crowd noise. I mean it was loud. It was very loud in [Atlanta] and that’s another thing he is really improving on.”
What’s fun is things should get easier for Jameis after seven games under his belt. Take the Giants’ weak-ass 4-3 defense entering Tampa this afternoon. It’s a great chance for Jameis to show his maturity and take all the underneath yardage they’re sure to give him.

Super Bowl Winning and Runner up coach Lovie Smith has helped turn around TWO teams and lead them to a Super Bowl… He is well on his way to doing it again!!! He knows if he builds an awesome offence the Defence will come!!!!
He played 5 rookies on O last week and beat a very very good team…. His only rookie on D has inspired them to the next level to which we will see today!!!!
Loser trolls will get smashed before they overcome the 12th man with their stupidity….
Side note…. BUCS lead the league in forced fumbles and recoveries…. If not they are very close…. A few Picks and batted down balls and the situation is obvious….
Also note, ASJ is a go today!!! Gods timing is a beautiful thing… Its gonna be a fun game win or lose…. A blow out would be gut wrenching but I think the Giants will be ok knowing they have a super bowl winning coach…

Agree with all of this great stuff about Fameis. He’s ahead of schedule. But he is still a rookie and so are we going to toss him under the bus if he throws three picks today and the Giants win by 20?
Or will we have the smarts and patience to realize…OOPS…another bump in the learning curve?

Happy Lovie is better than Loser Lovie. I have not seen this much giddyness from Lovie after a win. It’s kind of slow motion. Go Lovie I’m enjoying this.

My mistake… Thought he was still in Tampa when we on…. None the less…. He was a big part of turning our team around along with all the other great coaches back then….
My point remains….. He is doing as good as we could of really hoped for…. Outside of wins and loses… Which will come as a formality…. He is putting together all the pieces of a puzzle that was missing so many…. HC are so much more then what we give them credit for…. If we are gonna blame him for failure we have to blame him for the success as well and everything in between….
He deserves respect for being willing to come here and stick his kneck and career on the line… So far he has done all the things we needed to be done that other coaches have failed meserably at… If that’s not recognized by fans then they need to open up to the big picture…..

That said, if he can’t deliver the results desired by the time his contract is up…. The answer is simple… Don’t extend his contract…. Other coaches will see that the BUCS are gonna honor a contract…. This goes a long way and is a huge deal if you seriously want to attract a better coach… Just my opinion of course…. But its a good one… We just have to support what we have for now….

Yes….Jameis is as advertised…..very smart…..football guru…..leader…..motivated…..hard worker….respected…..talented….and perhaps eventually “America’s QB”
Yes, he will stumble……not only rookies do that…..look at Luck, Brees, Manning….all have had their bad days.
I still believe this is unnecessary overselling…..preaching to the choir….
Only a very few are still skeptical….or as Joe calls them “haters”…..they will likely not change no matter what.
But, for some of us…..time to ease off the praise and let the man do his thing on the field.

Geez, I can’t understand with all the joy of 3-4, possibly 4-4, that they don’t go ahead and extend Lovie’s contract for another six years.!!!!!!!!!!

Aside from the year Lovie went to the Super Bowl with an inherited defense, he has never won a playoff game as a head coach or defensive coordinator. He ran that Bears D into the ground with terrible talent evaluations and got fired for missing the playoffs after a 7-1 start. What has he done for our defense? Ghost Johnson, Mike Jenkins, Tim Jennings, Bruce Carter, Alterraun Verner, George Johnson and others who do nothing. He took a top 20 defense and made it a bottom feeder. Kwon Alexander was Jason Lichts pick so the only good player Lovie brought us was Chris Conte. How can you defend that?

FSUking- don’t try. Any time I ask Jab or any other Lovie supporter to answer why Frazier had the d playing better than Lovie all I get is silence. As it’s just another strike against him as a coordinator. Even though he’s brought in his hand picked vets familiar with his scheme.
If we aren’t happy with 1 home win and 5-18 and a awful defensive scheme we are just trolls in the eyes of Jab and Onelovie
