“The Dude’s A Competitor”
November 2nd, 2015Even the most stoic and Xs-and-Os focused former Buccaneers are having their emotional buttons pushed by Jameis Winston, America’s Quarterback.
Take Dave Moore, the reasoned and seasoned film guru of the Buccaneers Radio Network. The veteran of 16 NFL seasons made his weekly visit to Ronnie and TKras on WDAE-AM 620 today, where and said Jameis’ impact runs very deep, and that higher level of leadership was evident against Atlanta.
“The one thing we learned yesterday about Jameis: The dude’s a competitor,” Moore said. “You could see his body language. You could see his intensity pick up. You could see him lead blocking on a toss. He almost got in Doug Martin’s way there. But the guy’s a competitor and he wants to win. And that’s stuff you can’t teach. You can teach mechanics, how to read a defense, but he’s got that fire. And you can see other guy’s play off of that.”
Moore made the point that, yes, Jameis and the Bucs have work to do on their games. But Moore explained that every team needs work and winning just makes it easier to focus on the real technical needs throughout the team.
Regarding Jameis throwing an intense overtime block at the Falcons’ 8 yard line for Doug Martin, the next play was a short-armed, bounced incompletion in the end zone for an open Adam Humphries.
Talking to Joe and a few other reporters after the game in Atlanta, Jameis quipped that if he didn’t throw the block, then he probably completes the pass to Humphries. The implication was that Jameis shook himself up just enough on the block to weaken his arm.

He will make that throw most times from here on out!

This kids positive energy is infectious. Exactly what the Buds need, not taking anything away from Mariota, but Jameis is right guy for this team. He’ll never quit working to get better, flim junky, gym rat, perfectionist, unselfish, and will do anything for his brothers.
November 2nd, 2015 at 3:10 pm
Yea but Mariota….
November 2nd, 2015 at 3:11 pm
Best QB in franchise history already!
Dude wants to win more than any other player on the field.
Go Sucs!
November 2nd, 2015 at 3:12 pm
bucs got the right guy… tough, competitor with the ability to move forward regardless of the situation. Now if Kwon’s charisma and fire can get some of the defenders off their arse we’d have a passionate team. prayers to his family…
November 2nd, 2015 at 3:25 pm
You’re just seeing what all of us fsu fans had already knew about Jameis. Enjoy the ride…he’s pure magic! Let’s just see where the bucs are this time next year…as I said , enjoy the ride and hang on :)!

Where is SuperSam and Erik from clean athletics at today? I want to hear what they thought of the game lol.

In the game ball to Kwon after the game speech…Think that’s what Mankins meant when he said “now if we can get that commitment from everyone”.. Wonder who he was talking to?
November 2nd, 2015 at 3:36 pm
Fun Fact: Winston and Kwon were ranked 1&2 coming out of HS.
We have our leaders folks. Trade GMC and get some new fresh young playmakers.
November 2nd, 2015 at 3:37 pm
Winston absolutely refuses to lose. Talk about will-power, and the kid is only 21. Unreal. Go Bucs.
November 2nd, 2015 at 3:38 pm
VJax also said last week… Something like ” Jameis expects everyone to work as hard as he does, so you better get on board”. It’s obvious they’re speak to some slackers specifically.. Who?
November 2nd, 2015 at 3:41 pm
Im gonna say it’s the guy with the body language that said he didn’t want to be there.
November 2nd, 2015 at 3:48 pm
I’m not sure everyone noticed….but during the OT kickoff from Atl…..Winston was on the sideline yelling at Rainey….cheering him on to run the kick back…..
Who does that but a true team leader?
November 2nd, 2015 at 4:00 pm
Now it’s the same old song….
But with a different meaning since you been gone…
–The Four Tops
Jameis is good, Jameis is great, Jameis is this, that and the other thing.
Thanks Dave Moore for telling me something I’ve known for 3 years now.
It’s still good for the naysayers and doubters to read though. So whatever.
November 2nd, 2015 at 4:03 pm
TBBF…Jameis ran out onto the field to congratulate the special teams after they made an extra point. That’s the Jameis I’ve told you all about before the draft. That’s the JW us Noles fans know all too well. That’s the same Jameis Winston that will make EVERY Buc fan on the planet proud in very short order.

DB55
My money is on some of the old Chicago guys just collecting a paycheck.
November 2nd, 2015 at 4:29 pm
@tbbf I saw that too. And you see him running out to the special teams and the defense (on the occasions they make a play). It’s obvious how infectious his attitude is in this locker room, something we’ve sorely needed.
I love that he wants to throw blocks for his running backs, but I would prefer him keep his arm healthy. Had 2 open shots in the end zone that were missed right after that play. He’ll learn that though. Looking like a great draft so far.
November 2nd, 2015 at 4:42 pm
JW missed about 5 throws, all short but first thing he said was that he fd up.
November 2nd, 2015 at 4:53 pm
It’s getting harder to find a JW hater by the week!
November 2nd, 2015 at 5:48 pm
april seems like a lifetime ago: should we go with mariota or the thuggish overweight interception machine who is a combination of Jamarcus Russell, EJ Manuel, and Stalin?
November 2nd, 2015 at 5:52 pm
Those off the field issues though….
November 2nd, 2015 at 6:11 pm
JW is not that good really… If he knew how to throw short slants like MM he would of won the game and not given his D a chance to lose the game because Lovie sucks!!!!
This is what I am not reading for a change kudos BUC fans we made it through an article without having to read Trolls and Fans of Depression vometing on us!!!!
I’m G-MC Lovieing it!!!

Bo
You are dead on. My guess thst was directed at the ex bear stiffs. My buddy is an avid cowboys fan and was very happy Melton left. Conte plays hard but stupid. Jennings well who knows what that dudes issue is. There is a few others that talk a good game when quoted but fail to impress on Sundays.
November 2nd, 2015 at 9:08 pm
First of all Jameis is no gym rat, I think he is going to be an excellent QB.
But my one worry is that he gets fat in the off season. He wont be preparing for for the draft. And as he gets older he may start packing on the LB’s
November 2nd, 2015 at 9:26 pm
Not sure if you saw this Joe:

I love his leadership. He has more to do on the mechanics. He could have easily had two picks and under threw 4 touchdown passes. Take away the win and we would be talking about him having a bad game
November 2nd, 2015 at 11:10 pm
Bo + Tmax
Idk about Melton he made plays all game including 4 tackles and a fumble recovery. Btw, better production than the guy in front of him on the depth chart.
Conte is nothing more than a backup on an avg college team. He’ll never have to worry about getting flagged for targeting bc defenseless receivers run him over.
Jenkins? Well, we’ve all been saying he’s garbage since last year but what do we know? Lovie Smith is handling that situation. (rolling eyes)
I don’t think it’s that they’re not trying I just don’t think they’re capable, much like their HC.
I mean you have a ten point lead with 6mins left and still ended up in OT?!?! Some “fans” thought they’d lose again and even the commentators were saying it. When an opponent’s HC goes for it on 4&1 in the 1st quarter, on their side of the field with 10mins left in the quarter it tells me they have NO respect for Lovie Smith’s ability to stop them. Am I wrong?
Now, if you want to talk about competitors then let’s talk about Howard Jones. Who? Yes! HOWARD JONES!!!!! Dudes has made HUGE plays in every game he’s played. Numbers that are equal to or greater than Greg Hardy. Another feather in Jason Lichts hat because I’m sure Lovie isn’t scouring Division zip universities, regardless of his sound bites.
November 2nd, 2015 at 11:10 pm
@Capt Blighe, thats the dumbest thing Ive ever heard. He is not a gym rat? Dude you are reaching with that type of criticism. He is a naturally big QB, just like Big Ben.
@Bucnut, you are reaching too. I see alot of over-anaylying going on. How many all-pro QBs have near INTS and miss a few passes. Cornballs have to be negative. As long as he isnt doing shit like we saw from Josh Freeman and throwing non-stop INTs like Geno Smith I have no complaints.
November 2nd, 2015 at 11:18 pm
I love Jameis at this point and I do feel that we made the right pick. I loved Mariota and wanted him originally, but in hindsight, I would take Jameis.
November 2nd, 2015 at 11:18 pm
@DB55 Says – First Bo Says – “VJax also said last week… Something like ” Jameis expects everyone to work as hard as he does, so you better get on board”. It’s obvious they’re speak to some slackers specifically.. Who?” Then DB55 says “Im gonna say it’s the guy with the body language that said he didn’t want to be there.”
@DB55 Says – I can’t believe I am the only one responding to this comment. Oh..I forgot, everyone probably skips D55 by now. Calling McCoy a slacker is shameful to anyone who considers himself a Buccaneers fan.
November 2nd, 2015 at 11:43 pm
Do they? Figures. Truth is the commentator said it on the television.
November 3rd, 2015 at 1:39 am
BucNut, we could play What ifs all day. Jamesis also had clutch throws. But like I sais the bucs been playing good but the fans just like to criticize every detail.
November 3rd, 2015 at 3:19 am
Thanks Ryan!
