Lovie shares a philosophy
Is suffering a crushing loss good for a football team?
Lovie Smith thinks so.
That’s what Lovie was selling during a pregame chat with Scott Smith of Buccaneers.com.
“One thing that adversity does, and disappointment does, it makes you focus more,” Lovie said.
Now that’s quite a philosophical mouthful by Lovie.
So far this season, the Buccaneers have risen to the challenge after crushing defeats, blowouts at home by the Titans and Panthers.
That wasn’t the case consistently last year, and surely, good football teams don’t need a beat down to achieve optimum performance.
Joe can’t wait to see how the Bucs respond tomorrow.

The Falcons offense will run and throw the ball well against our defense. Look for the Falcons to stuff our running game. I think JW struggles a little bit. Bottom line Falcons win 38-10

Lovie’s right in a way. Like my dad used to tell me ‘What doesn’t kill you will make you stronger’.
Then again, if it keeps happening, sooner or later it’s probably gonna kill ya.
Kinda like ‘If you keep doing the same stupid stuff, you’ll keep getting the same stupid results.’

Looking forward to how they respond, and also looking forward to the coaching philosophy tomorrow. Basically, I’m praying we get the ball back with 1:30 left in the 1st half and 3 TO’s left — let’s see if Lovie’s onions have descended since last week
My guess is they’re still buried, but it will be interesting to see

but to be fair, much like his roster, hardly anyone is listening and paying attention. So he can pretty much say anything at this point!!!!

Come on joe. I’m your biggest fan The post headline is “it makes you focus more”. Really? Where is it evident when the players themselves are saying it ?? Saying it a more than once right after games!! Focus is indeed an issue.

Ok a couple quick notes on previous comments. 38-10 please, the Jags and Skins dropped 30 on us. Don’t undersell the Falcons. They are the best offensive team we will play this year. I can’t even name the guys who ripped apart our secondary because they are nobodies. Julio Jones is Somebody. I would say 3 of our guys can’t cover him. I’m guessing the Falcons score 50. I hope they don’t but lets be realistic.
Now with that in mind I expect the falcons to be up by at least 14 points by 1:30 left in the half. Making the observation meaningless.

I meant my comments to lovie, not joe just tired of hearing bad teams learn to focus from adversity. Agree with your writing just kind of tired of listing to coach jiberish gets old. So much optimism down the crapper. I’m just really disappointed it the Defence. May be the worst secondary ever. Can’t believe what I’m seeing on the field. Can we cop a winning attitude please. Put some teeth in this defense. Please focus. Or whatever.

The only way for Lovie to get this monkey off of his back is to WIN….by any means necessary. We don’t care how its done..Just win Baby. Can it be done? Sure it can. And our Bucs do play much better after a lost. Lets see which Lovie’s defense shows up come Sunday. I mean we might get Surprised. Wouldn’t it be grand to see every sports news prediction come wrong.

I am not sure that focus is the word. The team has to be pissed off. Every player has a sense of pride and the defense has had their resolve questioned. I know they had their bums handed to them last year but that has to be a motivator getting whopped and giving up the game last week. I know what your thinking. Mike Jenkins can’t cover. I still think the Bucs overcome it. It really comes down to how much of a man are you? Are you going to show up in Atlanta and put it all on the line or are you going to implode again? Remember the Saints game, on the road, inside a dome? That’s the team we are going to see tomorrow. We have a QB and we have a running game. With Vincent Jackson out look for Sims to get more snaps and touches. Bucs rebound and beat the Dixie Chicks.

I really can’t stand Lovie anymore. We can read right thru his lies. He acts like we are blown out every blue moon. He tries to down play his losses,..but there are too many. I was a believer when he was hired. Got my hopes up, and as usual am let down. You would seriously think his defense was better than what he is producing. I would fire Lovie. Make Koetter the Head Coach and Leslie Frasier the DC. I mean Leslie would be doing better than Lovie, plus with and OC as HC we will continue to produce TD’s instead of saying oh…we are up a few TD’s lets just say the game is in the bag and stop throwing the ball. Just run up the gut and punt.

The Bucs could come out and crush Atlanta today for several reasons. They’re mad and embarrassed about last week’s loss. Koetter has inside info on Atlanta’s offense, just like Chucky had on the Raiders. Winston, Martin, and Evans are rolling. ASJ is back. GMC and LVD have been called out. Lovie’s seat is on fire. The Falcons are over rated and are taking the Bucs lightly. If this team has any character, they will come out swinging. We’ll see if they have any fight in them today.

I have been a Lovie supporter but it has become impossible to stick up for him. We are accepting defeat in this town and that is unacceptable. After every loss, we here how the loss was good for us. Man, that is Bull ____! No loss is ever good. I’m in business. When I lose an account, is that good for me? In no way is it ever good. It means you aren’t doing something right. You can put mustard on a turd, but it’s still a turd and I’m tired of hearing this crap.

There was one play in Washington that I have not heard anyone talking about and I don’t know why? It was the last play of the game. Jameis Winston completes a pass to Charles Sims over the middle. When Sims was tackled I counted between 7 and 6 seconds would have been left on the clock (clock never ran with 12 seconds left). Because Tampa had no timeouts left Sims tried to lateral the ball when he fumbled it. If Sims would have held on to the ball, the Bucs offense could have easily gotten back to the line of scrimmage and spiked the ball. That would have given Barth a shot at a 57 yard FG attempt with one or two seconds left in the game. Just another bad play from the Buccaneers. I thought it was interesting that I have not heard a single conversation about that play would could have given the team a chance at redemption.
