Not Enough
October 23rd, 2015The Jacksonville game almost shocked Joe and probably 80 percent of the fans at the Den of Depression two Sundays ago.
Not only were the Bucs getting pressure on Jags quarterback Blake Bortles, they were sacking him. Six times, actually.
On top of that, GMC himself has 4.5 sacks through five games, leading the NFL in that category for all defensive tackles.
But GMC is not satisfied, so he said yesterday, frowning while wearing Longhorns gear to pay off a lost wager to Henry Melton.
“We’re doing more, but we haven’t done enough,” GMC said. “We are getting there, but if you look at the tape there are so many more opportunities that we could take advantage of and even change some things up. We got to go back to the drawing board last week, and hopefully we can see the fruits of that Sunday and moving forward.”
Well, at least there is progress; that is for sure.
So here is the thing: Until or unless the Bucs get that secondary taken care of, a very toasty secondary led by Loaf Jennings and Mike Jenkins (currently), the Bucs are going to need a nasty pass rush to save their bacon.

I have correctly predicted the outcome of all of the Buc’s 5 games this season. So this week I predict the Bucs will beat the skins around 27-17. The Skins are a horrible team with many players missing due to injuries and Bucs leave D.C. with a win

@Joe … “Until or unless the Bucs get that secondary taken care of, a very toasty secondary led by Loaf Jennings and Mike Jenkins (currently), the Bucs are going to need a nasty pass rush to save their bacon.”
Agree 100% Joe, and hopefully Conti and Banks (and Verner) will make it back into the lineup Sunday. Folks leave our LBs out of the pass coverage discussion, but they’ve got to do a better job to make this thing really work. The ‘dink-and-dunk’ is working on us I think because the LBs aren’t getting back fast enough or deep enough.

Even with pressure on the QB….we were torched….we absolutely, positively must have better play from our CBs……they are playing off recievers too much and are getting burnt.
Some of our problems is Kwon Alexander’s coverage over the middle….I think that should start to improve.

Brian I got the score at 23-13 Bucs… so we’re close. Got the Saints and Titans game wrong though.
October 23rd, 2015 at 2:35 pm
Bucs lose 3-13
October 23rd, 2015 at 2:38 pm
I picked all the games and my nose at the same time. Don’t that count for nothing?
October 23rd, 2015 at 2:39 pm
I’m feeling a 15-9 victory.

I trust that all those picking the Bucs to win are right. Now that’s sticking your neck out on a limb. I hope to hear you say you were right, I can’t wait, is it Sunday yet.

@ Buccfan37

Brian you’ve jinxed us lol
October 23rd, 2015 at 5:09 pm
I have correctly predicted the outcome of all of the Buc’s 5 games this season. So this week I predict that the Washington(insert politically correct name here) will beat the Bucs around 84-11. The Bucs are a horrible team with many players missing due to the incompetent Lovie Smith and Skins leave D.C. with a win!!
October 23rd, 2015 at 5:21 pm
PRB…I believe in jinxes too and superstitions, but The Bucs are going to win this one and go to 3-3.
For the people that wished me well on this silly illness I have. I’ve learned another thing about it. You have to stay positive and upbeat as possible, because I read last night that it can lead to mental depression.
I said to myself meh mental depression? I’m a Bucs fan I can handle that!

87… I haven’t wished you better health yet, but I’ve thought about you. I see you as a stand up guy and enjoy your contributions here on JBF. Your description of the toughness and dedication needed to care for your two kids is heartwarming. Great job man! Get well soon!

enough with the jennings hatred, lovies defense does not require an allstar cb, it requires an inteligent player. besides joe, ive never heard you mention how out of position the safetys are. joe you sound like you have no knowledge of american football and you try to steer bucs fans with ignorant statements. it almost as though you wish this team were in l.a. joe i dont like you very much.

“That Guy”….LMAO you really think Joe influences his readers with his opinions???
That’s comical. We have 2 eyes you know and we do watch the games just like yourself. If I took a vote on Jenning’s being benched versus starting in the line-up. 95% of fans would say he needs to be benched. Jenkins isn’t too far behind him either. He’s just a shade better. Jenning’s might still have some speed, but he does “loaf” on plays and he certainly loafed on in the 4th qrtr of the Jags game when he got beat like got stole something. Then a rookie LB yes a LB had to run past him to make up for his blunder while he stood there and watched the WR run down the field for the big gain.
Maybe that’s what you want in a DB , but just that one play alone tells me he doesn’t belong out there. I’m sure I could get a gaggle of fans to agree with me as well. Because our own 2 eyes tells us so, not Joe.

Its about getting pressure on their QB. The front four can’t do it alone. Which means they will have to blitz. Which means man on man coverage for the CB. Tim Jennings simply does not have the speed anymore. WR Jamison Crowder and Pierre Garcon are not household names so no excuses from our CB. TE Jordon Reed is playing as well as LT Trent Williams. The issue is there defense. Terrence Knighton is going to throw Joe Hawley around like a rag doll. Wish we had Evan Smith in to handle the extra meat. Chris Baker is one of the premier DE. He can play the run as well as rush the passer, Ryan Kerrigan is due for a big game. CB Bashaud Breeland is playing well with an INT and FF in the first quarter last week. Dangerous.
October 23rd, 2015 at 9:00 pm
If we can get the running game going it will be a long day for the Skins. It will open up the play action and I think Evans goes off in this game. We’ve got way more weapons on offense and I have to give our defense the edge too. I see this as a win but I’m always looking for disfunction from this team so we’ll have to wait and see.

The Skins average 16 pts per game and we allow 29. There is no way we hold them under 20 pts. They have played a harder schedule than we have, they have beat decent teams and are desperate. I think to win we will need to score in the high 20s at least and have our best game yet. On paper this looks like this is the best team we have played except for the Panthers. Unless the skins are totally imploding, like Joe says, this ain’t going to be easy boys.

Dreambig
So your saying the over on the 45½- Is a lock?
October 24th, 2015 at 4:49 pm
Lov – I dont think anything is a lock with our Bucs this year. So far they are consistantly inconsistant!
