Evans: Browns Jersey Wasn’t Best Choice

Mike Evans answered the tough questions this afternoon at One Buc Palace, such as why was he spotted before tens of thousands of people wearing a Browns jersey on Saturday?
At least it wasn’t Josh McCown’s jersey. That would be cause for a riot in Tampa and a mental health exam for the Bucs’ budding receiver.
In fact, what happened was Evans wore a Johnny Manziel Browns jersey at a Texas A&M football game. Evans said he went back home to Houston to watch his brother play high school football and see his daughter, and then he made the drive for some fun at College Station.
The Twitter outrage of Bucs fans, after seeing Evans in a Browns jersey, was felt by Evans.
“I had bought it last year. I thought it was the best time to wear it. You think Texas A&M, you think Johnny Manziel, right?” Evans said. “But it was a Browns jersey, so I guess, you know, I should have probably worn an A&M jersey. But I didn’t have one. So I thought that would be the best thing.”
Yeah, it’s not a good look for a Buccaneer to wear colors of another team. Evans said nobody at the Bucs talked to him about it when he returned from the bye-week vacation.
Joe understands and is not in the overly sensitive crowd. It’s not like Evans wore this around Tampa, or while mowing his grass, or while attending a going away party for Tim Jennings. It was done at the house that Johnny built, a fitting tribute.

And for the record, the real Tiny Tim does not care if Evans wore a browns jersey. He is a grown man. I don’t think it’s Capt Tim hijacking your name, that’s not his style. He does get on you about it though and that is his style. I’ve had a few run ins with him, and he can be pretty harsh. I’m pretty sure it’s Yungry though that’s doing it. Perhaps Joe doesn’t have the time to catch the person doing it? He said he can see the IP address of who posts what and when, so I don’t know how hard it has to be to catch the loser.

I can care less how hash Capt Tim can be. I am busting him because he stated I was a troll because according to him I had been talking bad about Jameis for months. I simply requested that the troll they call Capt Tim to produce the evidence outside the past couple of days when I discovered there was a fake me. Capt Tim has not produce anything while I have provided at least 15 articles going way back to January that shows my stance on Jameis. No it was Capt Tim being the troll. And he still has not admitted his mistake like a man as you have.

Stuff like this does matter and shows poor judgment on the part of Evans. I’m usually on the side of “it’s not a big deal” when it comes to petty issues like this, but he’s paid millions of dollars by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Represent your organization. Hell, be like Jameis and just wear an A&M jersey/apparel. Again, it’s not a huge deal, but I’m sure he knew he would get shit for wearing it. Why bother.

I don’t like this at all. Biggest thing I hate about the NFL is that these guys are hired guns, no loyalty or sense of pride for the city. Wouldn’t be surprised if his goal is to play with Johnny for his second contract.

Evans needs to get his $hit in order. This year he looked soft prior to preseason. His lack of conditioning was the cause of his hammy injury. I really think his rookie success has gone to his head. Now I’m questioning his off the field habits …. Is he too birds that flock together tie Johnny Football ?

Like people have said, its a no no to wear other nfl teams gear. But he was more showing support for a player than a team. I think thats the key. It’s not like colin Kaepernick who wore a dolphins hat in a photo, because he actually cheers for the dolphin’s team. Totally different logic, Evans was showing support for his former bro.
