How Set Is The Secondary?
October 20th, 2015Though the duo of starting cornerbacks, Loaf Jennings and Mike Jenkins, has little tenure, Bucs fans seem to have had their fill.
While the Bucs may have the No. 5 overall defense, the secondary has been so porous since Johnthan Banks went down, opposing wide receivers are getting winded from so many big plays.
If one is to scrutinize the words of Bucs defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier, the secondary is a work in progress because the Bucs are searching for a proper blend of players.
“You’re trying to get that right combination, try to come up with the true starting corners, the true starting safeties that can do what you are looking for,” Frazier said. “We’re getting pretty close to honing in on the guys we think are going to give us the best shot to be successful back there. They are all working hard and they are playing hard. We just have to do a few things a little bit better.”
Well, one of those guy is clearly Banks, who has been one of the best corners at picking off passes since the beginning of last season. Banks has to be back in the lineup shortly, doesn’t he?
Joe would be completely floored if Banks is not starting when his knee heals. Then again, Banks’ injury was an open door for Lovie Smith to get his pet Jenkins inserted as a starter.

And that’s why the media needs to ask Lovie point blank. When Banks comes back is he going to be one the starting corners? I would be shocked if we go into the next game with Jennings and Jenkins. If we do then Lovie needs to answer for it… That’s just bad coaching ..

Let’s hope that the Redskins are so bad that they can’t take advantage of “The Loaf” and “The Matador”

The key is if Banks practices…..if he doesn’t, that’s very bad news. I’m hopeful that Jennings & Jenkins have more to offer than they have shown so far……doubt it….but we don’t have a lot of options…..what, bring back Leonard Johnson?

The best thing for the Franchise is if Banks milks the injury and Lovie get his wish, keeping his lackeys at corner!!! Then at the end of the season the Glazers finally fixed this franchise!!!!

I must be easily amused because I laugh every time I read “Loaf”.

@DallasBuc
and don’t forget the “racist” calls from the hardcore sheep, that think that just because you give any coach 8 years that they will become a great coach!!!

Realist- the lead race-baiter has decided lately to “wait on it” in brooding silence!

The Buc Realist Says:

“Bucs (former) (demoted) (downgraded) DC Leslie Frazier”
That’s right Realist. Keep it real. Take note of that Joe. We don’t want Lovie to use Leslie as his scapegoat at the end of the season should things turn really bad this season. As long as we keep calling Leslie the DC, that’s what’s going to happen.

Tbh banks wouldn’t even be a starter on my team if it was my choice . Didn’t like him when revis was here didn’t really like him last year. He’s a good backup or at best #2 corner . Regardless Leslie needs too go asap if he can’t fix this scoring problem on defense .

I just hope they don’t bring Johnthan Banks back to soon. If he is not 100%, sit him until he is. Johnthan Banks is the only hope this team has to stabilize the secondary. If Jennings (Loaf) gets burnt again this weekend then Lovie has no choice but to bench him. The secondary needs to be –
CB Johnthan Banks
CB Mike Jenkins
SLOT Alterraun Verner
FS Chris Conte
S Bradley McDougald
