Bobby Rainey Takes Home League Honor

October 14th, 2015

The new Bucs bellcow?

Joe hates being such a negative Nancy. What could possibly make Joe bang his head against a wall after Bobby Rainey was named NFC Special teams player of the week this morning?

It’s just the thought that Rainey could have been returning kicks and punts all last season and preseason, honing his craft to be better this year.

Remember, despite Rainey on the roster, Lovie burned through Solomon Patton, Trindon Holliday, Marcus Thigpen, Patton (Take 2) before closing 2014 with Rainey on the job.

This offseason, the Bucs drafted Kaelin Clay early in the sixth round because they wanted him to replace Rainey, who turns 28 on Friday. Clay is out of football.

Joe tips his cap to Rainey, who is a heck of a guy and a fierce competitor. Former Bucs rockstar general manager Mark Dominik found Rainey on the street in 2013. He was a gem of a pickup.

Win it again this month, Bobby!

Little known Rainey facts: He’s the go-to running back every year at “Gruden’s QB Camp” on ESPN. Chucky loves him and Rainey met Jameis Winston there last spring. Also, Rainey earned a Ravens (2012) Super Bowl ring.

Imagine what he could do as the #2 RB. #thankslovie

Let’s not forget he was the leading rusher last year. I don’t understand why these decisions are so difficult for lovely smith.

Martin #1, Rainey #2, Sims = slot rcvr

look at this former Buc off the scrap heap to STARTER lol:
    AFC Offensive PotW: Josh McCown

Rainey looks real good returning kicks and holding on to the ball. That low center of gravity works in his favor. Nice job Bobby.

I’ll be surprised if he doesn’t have 2 return touchdowns by the end of the season

Much love to Bobby Rainey, he’s getting the old Ernest Graham treatment. He’s truly an unselfish player. Our strength is in that RB room. They need to find ways to his hands on the ball. Simms is a slot receiver with good open field quickness, but he is not a true RB in my opinion. Simms runs with poor leverage and constantly falls down, be he can catch and run with the best of them.

He almost fumbled the ball twice on pints against Houston. I like Rainey but let’s see some consistency. Congrats on award.

    @getaclue

I would be surprised if teams keep kicking the ball to him. It has to be better to kick it out of bounds.
