“A Couple Of Times He Was Literally Shying Away From Contact”

“Pussyfootin'”

Is handpicked starting cornerback Tim Jennings playing super soft?

It’s already clear Jennings loafed at a key moment Sunday, while Kwon Alexander shamed him with extreme effort. That’s all here on NFL.com.

A former Buccaneer thinks Jennings also is playing scared — or disinterested. Ex-Bucs guard Ian Beckles launched a public humiliation of Jennings yesterday on WDAE-AM 620.

“Make it somebody else. Ok. I don’t care who it is. If you have to get somebody off the street,” Beckles said of the Bucs’ need to replace Jennings.

“He wasn’t trying to tackle anybody, either. A couple of times he was literally shying away from contact. That doesn’t bode well on film. When you’re watching film, and you’re watching film with all your defensive mates, and you’re in there pussyfootin’, the film doesn’t lie. It’s embarrassing.”

Joe’s still trying to figure out why Bears head coach John Fox opted to pay Jennings $4 million not to play for Chicago this season.

Jennings turns 32 in December and has one interception in his last 31 games.

Joe’s all in favor of moving on.

At what point do we stop asking whether incompetent Lovie Smith is qualified to evaluate talent and make roster decisions? The shameful record over the last 21 months provides a clear understanding of his rank incompetence. This team could be and should be much better at this point.
    Enough excuses.

  2. Tom Edrington Says:

    Glazer Master Plan:

Let Lovie Smith put together 2-14, 4-12, 5-11, 6-10 seasons, hope the Bucs land some more good draft picks and turn the talent over to the next head coach.

  3. ShutTheBucUp Says:

    Bench him already

  4. Another J Says:

He’s too short, Too slow, and Past his prime.
That’s why Chicago paid him to go away!

  5. Pick6 Says:

if you bench jennings when banks is healthy….that means jenkins is still a starter. an unfortunate dilemma, and one entirely of the head coach’s making.

  6. Jack Burton Mercer Says:

He’s just not an NFL corner anymore.

You know who shied away from contact: Sims. He tackled himself at least three times against los Jaguares rather than let them do it for him. His first long carry, or catch maybe, early in the game he could have gotten maybe five more yards but tripped and fell while making a move against air.

  7. passthebuc Says:

    Plant HS needs a corner,

  8. Dreambig Says:

Jack – you are right on. Sims had a good day but he definitely kept running out of bounds to keep from getting hit. Not quite sure how to read that.

As for Jennings, not only does he avoid tackles, he avoids covering the receiver. He would litterally fade away from the direction the receiver was running to provide more of a coverage gap. Once down at the end zone, Jennings stopped covering his man at the 5 yard line, leaving his guy all alone in the corner of the end zone. Fortunately Bortals never saw it and they ended up having to get 3 instead of the easy 7 they would have got.

  9. BucIt941 Says:

@Dreambig That will be coached out of Sims, Martin used to do the same thing! Now he is stiff arming LBer’s to the dirt! Sims will catch on!

  10. BucIt941 Says:

I know that video shows Jennings Loafing, but if you pay attention, The exact same play could have been made on the other side as BOTH Jag receivers got clean breaks and behind both Jenkins and Jennings. this happens way to often!

  11. Buc Neckid Says:

Any CB for the BUCS whose last name begins with J-E-N
    Should be cut IMMEDIATELY

  12. Howard Cosell Says:

I feel bad for Jennings in a way.

  13. Cannon Says:

Man… Kwon Alexander is fast o.O

  14. Bucco Brice Says:

the Jennings-Jenkins combo is lethal, …lethal to us…need Verner and Banks back in there and…is sterling moore another FA bust? haven’t seen a thing from him

  15. DB55 Says:

I thought I saw Jennings limping as if his ankle was hurt. I also saw he get run over too, so there’s that.

  16. Bucco Brice Says:

@Jack Burton Mercer…nothing new, Sims is the king of Pussyfooters!!!

  17. buc4life1979 Says:

Jenning was brought here as reserve depth. Came here and publicly stated his knee wasn’t 100%, yet Lovie starts him. And yet here we are actually SURPRISED that somebody who should be playing 20 to 30 snaps a game at most is wore down from starting..REALLY?? WTF is up with Sterling Moore Lovie Smith!?!?!

  18. archiefresh Says:

Whatever happened to Brandon Dixon? Maybe he should start instead of The JEN brothers

  19. bucsbedabest Says:

Jennings was brought in as a reserve then Banks went down and he replaced him as a starter. Yes, Jennings has struggled. One more bad game and I am sure Lovie will bench him too. Sterling Moore has not impressed either. With Johnthan Banks back things will change.

  20. "that guy" Says:

honestly, he played his assignment well in the video. they ran a cover 2 and jennings had good awarness to abandon his assignment to try and provide help downfeild. i blame the play joe referenced on the strong safety playing way to far back. you can even see him get his ankles broken when the WR cuts back inside, because he has to run 15 yards foreword just to touch the guy who caught the ball already. easy juke. as a matter of fact jennings is the only guy who got a hand on WR at the point of attack, and it wasnt even his job to do in the sceheme.

  21. BucUToo Says:

Cut the chord and pull the reserve. This guy is a waste of space. He looked slow as hell too. He may have been decent at one time, but that time was awhile ago. Chicago paid him to leave because they needed someone who could cover. We need some corner help bad. We could have had Revis and Talib. 2 shut down corners. But I’m not sure Talib would have ever turned the corner with his off filed BS if he was still here.
