Lost in Bucs fans wallowing in a home victory for a change — Joe is convinced many didn’t know how to act because such an event was so long in coming — is something the blowhard haters had to choke down with their warm Bud Lights on Sunday evening.
America’s Quarterback, Bucs signal-caller Jameis Winston, had nary a turnover.
The blowhard haters just can’t wait to dance in glee over the misfortunes of a rookie quarterback. So much so they’d rather the Bucs lose if it shames Jameis, which is shameful for anyone who wears Bucs gear in public.
Bucs coach Lovie Smith had a word (well, more than a word, actually) for those folks. In short, he paraphrased offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter’s response; we have an inconsistent rookie quarterback who is inconsistent.
What’s the next news flash?
“I think it says that he is growing,” Lovie said yesterday. “Experience teaches you everything. You can talk, talk, talk about it, but you have to get in that situation. Again, I talked last week about sticking your hand in the fire a little bit and seeing what it does to you. When you’re as smart of a quarterback as Jameis is and our football team is, when you’re part of turnovers, you see how much it hurts a ballclub. You have to take notes.”
Exactly. This is what rookie quarterback do. Wouldn’t shock Joe in any way if Jameis has a turnover in Washington a week from Sunday.

Jameis has barely even scratched the surface of how good he is going to be. This is a 21 year old kid back there under center who loves to push the ball down the field. More turnovers are coming – but offensive improvement is as well. Three years down the road there will be aerial shows every Sunday during Bucs games. And captain check-down Marcus Mariota will be firmly seated on the bench in Tennessee.

Yes, Jameis played conservative on Sunday. However, he made the right reads from what I could see from my seats (high up, so I could see the whole field). In particular there was a throw to Myers where he looked one way, then went back to Myers just as he broke open. It was very positive after a bad game. He’ll get better. He’s definitely going to have more games like Carolina, but hopefully they become fewer and further between.

I think the key for Jameis is moderation…..sure he will have games with turnovers….but it’s where and when and….how many. Four is far too many.
I think it is fine for him to take chances when the game situation requires it and when the chance of the other team taking advantage is minimal
A good example is near halftime against the Jags…..a throw downfield with very little time on the clock……deep in Jag territory would likely not resulted in the Jags scoring…..we should have given him that shot….if he were intercepted then…..so what.

Except McCown has a solid line a decent running game and a surprising 30 year old emerging TE, none of which the bucs had last year. I sure won;t miss him… nice guy hope he finds success, just glad he’s not are starter

Jameis Winston just had two bad games. That is it. Two games for a rookie? The recipe for success is keep the attempts between 25 and 30. Short slants and screens all day long. Just make sure to throw a few bombs in there and no INT or fumbles. That’s it. Marcus who?

While everyone is focused on the turnovers. I look at his 3rd down numbers. The kid was special on 3rd down on Sunday. That is how I judge any qb and he pass with flying colors. Now hopefully he can build on that

i was too young for dan marino’s early years, so other than perhaps andrew luck, i have never seen a rookie QB carry a team. almost all the QBs who have success in the NFL in their first 2 or 3 seasons do so riding a fearsome defense and an effective rushing attack. JW will be special, but he is not an exception to history. winning with a young QB is a team effort, and as soon as a kid has to do it all (or thinks he does), he is humbled by opposing defenses in a big big way.

Something to consider when judging a QB… How do the other player respond to him… JW is A plus material!!! If his teammates believe in the QB its is hard for him to fail!!! Take your boy in Cleveland for example… This is the main reason QB is the hardest position in sports outside of a goalie in any sport…. If you don’t believe in your teams “keeper” your team will struggle… JW is the “keeper” of the future of this team… All you TROLLS/BLOWHARDS need to find another team and QB to hate on…. We ain’t hearing your noise around here no more… Win lose or draw…. Mr Winston represents this community in a professional and humble way…. Unless that changes I will call all you jerks out for the jerks you are!!! JERKs…

I can answer that for you every easily. Because we still have many Buc fans that come to this site that haven’t wiped their drool from their mouths over Mariota yet.
They gush over him still to this day and he will never BE a Buc.
