Texans 19, Buccaneers 9
September 27th, 2015Vaseline hands and feet were the order of the day for the Buccaneers, as they dropped and shanked their way to an embarrassing loss to the Texans.
Lovie Smiths’ defense was carved up for more than 400 yards by Ryan Mallett and some dude named Alfred Blue. Shameful.
The Bucs managed just one coverage sack by Henry Melton, despite Mallett dropping back to pass 39 times. That just can’t happen under any circumstances. The Texans’ offensive line entered the game decimated.
Those drops? Mike Evans had three clear cut ones. And there were others.
Kyle Brindza missed two makeable field goals, one for a go-ahead late score, plus a key extra point. Why did Patrick Murray lose his job?
It’s ugly right now, Bucs fans. This was a step backwards against a poor football team.
September 27th, 2015 at 4:24 pm
On a positive note, Mariota threw more picks than Winston today.
September 27th, 2015 at 4:24 pm
Wtf just happened
September 27th, 2015 at 4:24 pm
Could have been worse.
Kyle Brindza missed 3 field goals, not 2.
September 27th, 2015 at 4:25 pm
Lovie smiths defense. Leslie Frazier should be calling plays after that
September 27th, 2015 at 4:25 pm
This is a wash of a year. We go 4-12 or worse and that’s ok, the next coach and GM will then have a premium pick to address a need or trade for more assets. But it’s clear Lovie is taking this team nowhere, we need to cut bait and walk away as soon as we can and focus on the future of this team. We’re the 49ers before they got Harbaugh, we just need our Harbaugh and we’ll be on the righteous path.
September 27th, 2015 at 4:25 pm
KICKER AND RUSTY WR….”simple as that”….
September 27th, 2015 at 4:26 pm
Hey Noles…we’re all still waiting on it. Lol.
September 27th, 2015 at 4:27 pm
2-6 in the first half of the season is never pretty.
Bucs need to go out and get Connor Barth, Nick O’Leary and a real fullback (unless O’Leary can play that role too).
Kyle Brindza is a rookie, and I feel for him…but he was horrible today and it will be in his head now. I don’t know why we even replaced last year’s kicker.
September 27th, 2015 at 4:27 pm
Defense did its job. I saw some drops but I saw a one hopper too. And less than 50% completions. Sigh. Of course it’s all Logies fault though.
September 27th, 2015 at 4:27 pm
Bucs walking around with smiles..
Are You Kidding me…Don’t give me the its the third game crap..
Rookie QB. Or some other excuse..
Well paid players, Performing like Crap..
Oh well we got paid
Will not spend another Dime on this team
I think everyone else should refuse to give this team anything until they play pro football
September 27th, 2015 at 4:28 pm
Can we stop calling it Lovie’s defense? I suggest we call it 40 minutes of 12 guys standing on the field watching receivers be wide open and running backs easily progress up the field, and career backups qbs have pro-bowl worthy performances.
Cover-2. No, how about Uncover-2?
September 27th, 2015 at 4:28 pm
Cut Brindza
September 27th, 2015 at 4:28 pm
I expected the team to be bad, But not this sloppy!!! Embarrassing!!!
September 27th, 2015 at 4:28 pm
The refs screwed us again and our kicker was a disaster. Evans played like crap anna let’s not forget our oline was hot garbage as far as ruin blocking goes. The d was fine until it wore down because the o went 3 and out like 40 times in a row.
September 27th, 2015 at 4:28 pm
And your Self Proclaimed America’s Quarterback couldn’t hit a open receiver…shameful
September 27th, 2015 at 4:29 pm
Summed up perfect Joe. Trains moving backward. We’re a NEAR-4th Q choke away from being 0-3.
September 27th, 2015 at 4:29 pm
HA! Pitiful, the refs were a disgrace too along w all things Bucs.
September 27th, 2015 at 4:29 pm
Fire Lovie. Can’t even count to 11.
September 27th, 2015 at 4:30 pm
The Kicker, Lovie, Jaboo, and Licht all Suck…not necessarily in that order
September 27th, 2015 at 4:30 pm
Noles is thinking of a new, more clever catchphrase that truly embodies this team.
Last weeks KoolAid was tasty while it lasted, right?
I’m gonna wait on it……..
September 27th, 2015 at 4:30 pm
Dixie chicks are gonna destroy us next week….I see a repeat of last year….lol.
September 27th, 2015 at 4:31 pm
I have hope for the offense. Wasn’t a good game for Jameis but he’ll get better and O-Line held their own today. Defense just seems lost like usual. No hope for them.
September 27th, 2015 at 4:31 pm
We can put those James haters to bed for a while—he had that game won for us.
I initially had hoped that we would claim whichever kicker lost the Saints preseason battle, but thought we had grabbed a decent guy.
Always trust your first instincts.
September 27th, 2015 at 4:31 pm
Its hard to be less accurate than Jameis was today, but damn the kicker did it. Defense played hard they get a D, everyone else gets an F.
September 27th, 2015 at 4:31 pm
This team has not got better anywhere on the field.
Someone please tell me where this team is better that contributes to anything?
September 27th, 2015 at 4:32 pm
Lovies
September 27th, 2015 at 4:32 pm
Turning that corner turned into falling off a steep cliff for the Bucs today. I never really felt the Bucs would win this game, but watching it was painful and torture.
September 27th, 2015 at 4:32 pm
Today’s loss was not on JW.
September 27th, 2015 at 4:32 pm
Well, last week was the fluke. The guys played hard for nearly 60 minutes, but we are just sloppy. Too many penalties again. Too many dropped passes. Missed field goals and extra points. No impact players. This is what a terrible organization looks like. Win one, lose seven. Win one lose seven. Win one, lose two. And we do the same things every time. Growing old. If you want to see what a sound organization looks like, watch the Falcons. Hmmm.
September 27th, 2015 at 4:32 pm
Looked like there were a lot of injuries also. And what the hell is up with these double digit penalties every week?!!!! I know everyone else hates the bucs but that doesn’t mean they get the flag when the other team asks for it
September 27th, 2015 at 4:33 pm
Lovie smith and inexperienced QB’s. He should be shamed out of the league. Unacceptable is way to nice of a word. He is a big old stinky turd that even sh!t flys think stinks too much
September 27th, 2015 at 4:33 pm
My head hurts… thanks bucs..
September 27th, 2015 at 4:33 pm
Defense did its job..WHAT?
R U Kinding me
This team has players…NO COACH.
TACKLING HORRIBLE.
DROPPED PASSES
NO STOPS IN RED ZONE.
Online did pretty good..
No Discipline on this team…
You think Belicheck would put a team like this…
September 27th, 2015 at 4:33 pm
What was that??? I am done with Lovie Smith and Jamis Winston…. How did this bum win the Heisman Trophy and cannot throw a basic out route with zero pressure…. I do not want to hear the words Americas Quarterback one more time from this website moderator…. Winston is marginal or average at best…. No why is this bum a first round pick.
How can you possibly play well enough to beat the Saints last week and GO BACKWARDS the following week????????????
WFT??? This coaching staff sucks, Mike Evans dropped 6 passes, the defense is marginal until they reach the gal line and Winston is not consistent whatsoever.
I am very disappointed because these bums showed zero improvement over last week…. Instead, they played worse than last week… Very poor performance!
September 27th, 2015 at 4:33 pm
You simply just can’t give Jameis a pass….1-13 on third down….just wasn’t good at all…..many throws off target….and yes there were some drops…..our defense didn’t play great….but I do believe that they played well enough for us to win.
Poor kicking game and very impotent offense…that’s what lost it for us.
September 27th, 2015 at 4:34 pm
Anyone who spends one dollar on this team is an idiot. Lol
September 27th, 2015 at 4:35 pm
Loser Lovie’s losses keep piling up 3-16
Just waiting for this loser to turn it around or get out of my city
September 27th, 2015 at 4:35 pm
Last time I checked Mike Evans dropped like three first-down passes. Jameis played pretty well considering all the drops, non-existent run game, and missed kicks. The Mariota crowd just needs to stop. The Houston defense looks a lot more formidable than Indy’s this year.
September 27th, 2015 at 4:35 pm
Conner Barth on line 1. Defense got tired at the end and Evans looked rusty.
September 27th, 2015 at 4:36 pm
Jameis had nice moments, but some really bad throws (easy misses) and a lot of drops. We might not see a better OLine performance this year than that, and we got 9 points out of it. Just gross offensive play overall.
September 27th, 2015 at 4:36 pm
Bull$hit a$$ penalties. MF pathetic. Garbage a$$ decimated Texans team beat them. What does that say about the YUCS. FUK!
September 27th, 2015 at 4:36 pm
Don’t worry. The way we miss wide open receivers and freeze in the red zone our kicker will have a lotta of practice to get this thing down.
September 27th, 2015 at 4:37 pm
Crap defense, crap special teams, crap running game, crap recivers, and a quarterback who doesn’t look any better that what Mike Glennon could do, should’ve traded that pick for a kicker and some pass rushers. Pathetic.
September 27th, 2015 at 4:38 pm
Im really not that discouraged after this loss. We easily could have won
September 27th, 2015 at 4:38 pm
Coaching….F
Special Teams…F
Jaboo…D-
THIS TEAM SUCKS BALLS!
September 27th, 2015 at 4:38 pm
YOU HAD ONE JOB BRINDZA!!!!!!!! ONE JOB!!!
September 27th, 2015 at 4:39 pm
The refs have been terrible to the Bucs all year.
The call in the first drive against Evans was a joke, and then when a Houston DB holds him by the wrist in the end zone they don’t call it.
September 27th, 2015 at 4:40 pm
Lots of blame to go around but start with Evans and his drops, penalties, poor running game, a terrible kicker, and a defense that couldn’t stop Ryan freaking Mallett. These penalties are really getting ridiculous.
September 27th, 2015 at 4:40 pm
@lightningbuc
if Brindza made all his kicks we would have won the game. Your grading is BS!!!!!
September 27th, 2015 at 4:40 pm
Too man dropped passes and penalties. Brindza was a beast last week. I still give him another chance.
September 27th, 2015 at 4:42 pm
What did our two new milk cartons LVD and Mccoy do today?
September 27th, 2015 at 4:42 pm
Winston got protection today…..he and his recievers missed an opportunity….many times….especially on 3rd down…..
The kicker may be why we lost……but our offense is why it was even close…..
The defense bent toward the end….but played well enough to win.
September 27th, 2015 at 4:42 pm
You’re unbelievable Joes. Did we watch the same game?
Loved the way you blamed Winston’s receivers. Or is ‘vaseline hands’ a compliment?
Didn’t see a single word in there indicating that America’s QB might have had something to do with today’s loss. Nothing to indicate that a number of his passes were way off target. Of course, 17-for-36 is almost 50% so we shouldn’t be too harsh.
The biggest deficiency that I saw was the offense’s inability to move the ball consistently (the Bucs’ 24-minutes time-of-possession was kind of an indicator of this). Their 3rd-down conversions were abysmal. But let’s not blame Jameis for that; let’s blame the ‘vaseline-hands’ WRs.
Hint Joes: Winning and losing is a TEAM effort. Today, the offense stunk. The defense stunk. Special teams stunk. Coaching stunk. Heck, even the Bucs’ mascot didn’t show up for today’s game.
September 27th, 2015 at 4:43 pm
The real Bucs showed up today, played up to par and were just too soft to beat anybody. Mallett looked like a seasoned vet, despite the earlier rumor that his play was mud.
September 27th, 2015 at 4:44 pm
After Brindza kicked the 58 yard FG everybody on this board thought he was the second coming of Jesus, and now you want to cut him.
September 27th, 2015 at 4:44 pm
LOL at the people putting the blame of Jameis. He was playing pretty good until the 4th. His receivers dropped a ton of passes. Way too many catchable ones.
Again, this loss is not on JW.
September 27th, 2015 at 4:47 pm
The play calling was awful. Veteran receivers with past history of shining n catching every pass in OTC training did little to help Winston out. On a pass thrown to murphy that was broken up by the Texans, he made no move to come back to the ball before the db stepped up to break up the pass which could’ve been a repeat of malcolm butlers int against seattle in the superbowl. Had Murphy come back to the ball its completed. Houston’s db’s manhandled our receivers. n drops, drops, drops, were just embarrassing. Jameis has hinted to coaches that he’s at his best in the no huddle offense. But noooo…Mr Loving conservative as usual has to wait for us to get behind before entertaining that thought. Conte n mike Jenkins are both garbage. Brindza…well, there’s a lot of what ifs with this guy.The penalties we accumulated were just ridiculously…off sides, two facemask, receiver push off, false start. Jameis cant carry this team without support n the defense is tired of three n outs then back on the field.
September 27th, 2015 at 4:48 pm
And Realist, I agree with you 100% … the Bucs are ‘sloppy’. In every imaginable way.
I’ve been an advocate for giving Lovie time to right the ship, but ‘sloppy’ play just continues and continues. Penalties and very poor tackling especially. No excuse for it, and coaches are the ones who need to be held accountable.
September 27th, 2015 at 4:48 pm
….if you spend 1 minute to watch this hot garbage live then you kind of get what you deserve…dvr it and page through dumb look after dumb look on Lovies face…does that guy feel like a winner to you?…if so why? because he doesn’t cuss?….this team needs leadership bad…12 men on the field how many times?…LOL this some serious JV bu**s***…move on
September 27th, 2015 at 4:56 pm
It’s just ONE game. Out of Conference, Out of Division. We’re not going to win them all so the best games to lose are the out of conference and out of division games. No big deal. Get ready for Carolina. Bucs will be 9-7 this season, Go Bucs!!
September 27th, 2015 at 5:02 pm
Jameis actually played pretty well today overall, I thought. A few tough breaks (Vjax getting pushed out on that touchdown), a few bad calls (phantom O.P.I. in Evan’s), a few missed calls, a few dropped passes, and a few passes defensed by the Texans totally ruined our day on offense. We really need to win next week to get back to .500
September 27th, 2015 at 5:02 pm
After Further Review:
* Drops = No 1st Downs = 3rd & Stupid
* Penalties = Unprofessional
* Refs = Bad OPI call on 1st series deep ball catch by Evans…X10000
* Melton should have started and McCoy sub.
* Evans to TE1 and Myers to WR2 = Open All Day
* Refs set the tone and wouldn’t let Evans or Jackson …PLAY BIG.
* Call the NFL on Monday and forfeit the Carolina Game due to injuries.
* At least Sims and Martin showed up.
* Wait. I thought the other team had a bad OL..??
Ooooooooooh, Brother..!!
September 27th, 2015 at 5:09 pm
Some of y’all are really stretching for your “it’s Jameis’ fault” arguments.
He had us easily in a place to win.
He is progressing week to week.
His Wr’s dropped too many balls and he was under pressure.
You just can’t deny that.
September 27th, 2015 at 5:27 pm
Sorry. I’m no Lovie apologist by any stretch. Between dropped passes, dropped picks, not being able to pick up a fumble and our kicker leaving 10 points (7 to be fair) on the field, there’s no way anyone who is not a troll hangs this on the coach. JW wasn’t flawless but he was far from the biggest problem.
This team is not good. Inconsistent officiating doesn’t help. REALLY bad calls and non-calls. ME13 OPI on the first possession but no DPI on the VJAX td that was reversed? Just awful but if this team executes, the Bucs win this game. At least for this game, come off of your Lovie and JW hate and call them as you see them.
September 27th, 2015 at 5:39 pm
Lol, there’s some people on this blog.
September 27th, 2015 at 5:40 pm
Oh it hangs on the Coach…..he has put ALL of this together, him and the OC and DC (which he took over as DC)….
I’ll just be glad when he and Leslie are gone!
September 27th, 2015 at 5:42 pm
Texans could of scored a TD at the end if they wanted too.
Defense totally sucks. We cannot cover anyone ever!!!!!!!
September 27th, 2015 at 5:44 pm
Oh its the Panthers next….knew it was a division rival, for some reason was thinking it was the Falcons.
September 27th, 2015 at 5:45 pm
Not JWs fault. Make the refs call OPI every play and if it hits you in the hands, catch the ball, you are a professional football player! Also when it’s your turn, kick the ball through uprights, you are also a professional football player! And if your supposed to be tackling, tackle to stop, not strip, you’re a professional football player! Oh wait, it’s Bucball, not football, thanks coach😂
September 27th, 2015 at 5:46 pm
You’re spell check on my rant😁
September 27th, 2015 at 5:50 pm
Jameis and Mariotta are both 1-2. Jameis is by far better than Mariotta, Jameis plays like a man, Mariotta runs around like a little girl
September 27th, 2015 at 5:56 pm
I will preface this by saying I’m not a Jameis fan
Jameis from Week 2 looked much better than this week. Some of his passes were horrendous. That pick? Wtf?
September 27th, 2015 at 6:03 pm
@J
Jameis is the greatest QB we will ever have!!
September 27th, 2015 at 6:15 pm
What are u guys talking about. Jameis sucked today!
I’m not overreacting and I won’t say boot him for a bag of balls, but let’s hold him accountable. He SUCKED.
September 27th, 2015 at 6:47 pm
This game could have been won….effing Brindza who can boot the mf’er from 60 pissed the game away…the offense looked flat, the defense lacked takeaways and we gave the game away. WTF?!?!?
September 27th, 2015 at 7:17 pm
This one is on Brindza. O-line impressed me keeping Winston safe against a brutal Texans Dline. Offense was as expected – suffering from Winston’s rookie growing pains. Sloppy days won’t be unusual on offense this year for that reason.
Brindza left a lot of points on the field. Points that could well have won us the game.
September 27th, 2015 at 7:58 pm
Americas QB! I’m on board. Played well, no help… 🙂
