More Jameis praise from Vincent Jackson.
Yes, Joe brought word yesterday about how Vincent Jackson got emotional (for him) when Pat Donovan of WDAE-AM 620 had the cajones to ask Jackson what his reaction to fans is when they suggest the Bucs drafted the wrong quarterback.
That wasn’t all that Jackson had to say about America’s Quarterback, Bucs signal-caller Jameis Winston.
It would have been so easy for any of the Bucs players, much less Winston, to go to Hooters and pound beers non-stop until they couldn’t stand up, after way the team shat the bed against the Titans (in particular, Lovie’s defense).
But not Jameis. He stayed up until 2 a.m. watching the gametape he was so hacked off at the outcome.
For Jackson, Jameis’ reaction is who Jameis is, so Jackson told Joe yesterday.
“That doesn’t surprise me at all,” Jackson said of Jameis hitting the tape. “He’s one of the first guys in here every day and usually one of the last guys out. He’s constantly working at his craft. On the practice field I don’t think he ever sits down. He’s always doing some sort of drill with our quarterbacks coach, working on something, making sure he’s reading defenses.
“The guy is just a workaholic and I know that [loss] probably really ate at him, but again, we get about a 24-hour rule, evaluate it, work on it, understand and own your mistakes and then you’ve got to move on. It’s a fresh week this week and we’re excited about that.”
Maybe Joe is drinking Leslie Frazier’s Kool-Aid, but maybe, just maybe, the Saints are ripe for being upset. Their secondary is beat up. They have a limited pass rush.
How the Bucs respond Sunday, specifically the defense, will say a lot not just about this team, but Lovie as well.
If the Bucs get lit up (again) and lose, no matter how well Jameis plays, this season and Lovie’s tenure with the Bucs could begin circling the drain all too quickly.

Call Airforce Jax a company man if you want. But he would have not gone into detail about Jameis if it wasn’t true. I saw the video last night on the YUCS website. He definitely seemed sincere.

Jameis may have not played well in his first pro game, but with his attitude and work ethic, he will get better. Nice to see a respected vet like VJax address that side of him.

I too watched the film until 2am. Jameis was not prepared for this game. IMO practicing against Lovies defense provided a false reality.
But looking at the def side of the ball was literally vomit inducing specifically this play. 2nd qrt :52 remaining in the half ball on the 1yrd line. TE releases pitches a tent in the TE and both mcdougle and LVD run away from the TE. Boom easy TD not ever covered.
Forget about Jameis focus on Lovie and this garbage defense.

Winston is not a problem. He is a smart guy who wants to win as well as willing to put in the work to get better. I wish our defense was as passionate. The Saints lost to Arizona but the game was closer than the score. Arizona does not suck and it has a formidable defense. Brees, Cooks, Colston and Ingram will have a field day against us in their home opener. Trust me, I want nothing more than for the Bucs to be good and to win games but at some point the reality has to have more credibility than the dream world.

Years folks. Give this QB evaluation sh1t a few years. Even then you may be off.
Everyone for the first few years thought Philip Rivers was way better than Eli Manning.
10 years later Eli has 2 SB victories on some clutch post season runs while Rivers still hasn’t made a trip to the game.
We all know about Luck & RG3. Remember when Colin Kaepernick was going to be the best QB ever basically according to Jaws and some experts?
Obviously it’s a team sport and this idea of rating this QBs after week 1 in the regular season is just hilarious if you consider the history of the NFL and how wrong you would be 90% of the time going off of week 1

It’s great to see V-Jax not throw anyone under the bus or anything, but the Bucs are hot garbage right now. It sickens me to type that, but how many teams have been as unprepared as the Bucs were against a beatable Titans team?
I’m sick and tired of being embarrassed to be a fan of this football team. I know it’s only one game, but will anything change? I have my doubts. I’m not giving up on Winston, but man does he have his work cut out for him the rest of this season. I just hope he doesn’t become so shell shocked that he becomes David Carr 2.0.
I just want this team to be competitive, that’s all I’m asking…And it’s not an unreasonable request at all.

Here is a play that took place on Sunday that I haven’t read any JW supporters bring up.
OK I’m not a blind supporter but the kid does have a huge or is it yyyuugee heart.
And he is competitive
Remember the play when Martin reversed field and he was going to get nailed for a loss in the backfield? JW throws a block and springs Martin who got the edge for a nice gain. Not many QB’s would have done that. At least he has heart and cojones.

Not sure why all of my posts are being moderated out. I’ve been on great behavior this season. Over a year since my self imposed ban. I am trying a second email address. Not hiding behind multiple user names. Joe, the one thing that I ask is save some of these posts for a year from now. Just make that an article in 11 months.
My take in general has been simple. This is about the defense, that’s it. Jameis should have games that confuse him. Mariotta shouldn’t have games like he did this past week. This wasn’t about the cover 2. This was most about the front 7. Gap control was non existent. The linebackers, that I thought would be a strength were carved. Our defensive QB in Kwon had a way worse day than our offensive one did.
Also, all of you wanting the head coach fired and the OC promoted, my question is Why?? The defensive players said, they thought they weren’t surprised (which really scares me) and the offensive players didn’t see what they anticipated. The slow snaps (I saw this as well) the illegal procedures, the first down runs negated by penalties on first and second downs.
If we as fans expect any qb to outplay his team then we will be let down time after time.
If you want to point to MM as to an example of a qb that did. Watch the game again. Tebow would’ve had beaten this defense (not by as much but he would’ve)

Jameis Winston is not the problem with the BUCS. In time, he will become a great QB. I personally believe that a military unit, business entity and sports team takes on the “persona” of it’s leadership. The talent level at the NFL level is not that different, however, the commitment to winning clearly is different. New head coach Dan Quinn of the Atlanta Falcons has changed the culture of that team immediately, with discipline and passion as Sean Payton has with the Saints while building a serious winner. Tony Dungy couldn’t bring a winner to Tampa, neither has Lovie Smith. The defense of the BUCS is a reflection of “mild-mannered” Leslie Frasier and Lovie Smith and they play without discipline, passion or fear. The coaches are brilliant football minds, as Dungy is, however, the demand for winning and holding players accountable does not show up.
Sunday, at New Orleans, is the biggest game of the year for the BUCS and Lovie Smith. Lose and 2015 is over!!!

Well said Bill!!! The Bucs should listen to recordings Vince Lombardi over and over and over and over because coaches like Lombardi would have never tolerated the lazy, heartless and undisciplined play of their team. The Bucs are pusses plain and simple.

How does anyone expect Jameis to get better at anything if he practices against a defense that trotted on the field last week? No wonder the titans buried us so quick.

WE need a leader who will not stand for 50% play. Lovie acts like he has 5 more months to get ready for the season..
There is a reason he was in the basement watching football instead of coaching.

Tony Dungy couldn’t bring a winner to Tampa,
Uh..no! He went 6-10 his first year with what then was arguably the worst franchise in the NFL! He then won 4 of the next five years going 8-8 the other year. His record with Tampa was 54-42…take out that first rebuilding year of 6-10 and he went 48-32 for a .600 winning % which is just excellent. He did far better when he hit Indy because of Peyton.
Dungy’s major fault was he never found a QB or an OC and he featured boring football and was never animated on the sidelines. He never won the BIG game in the playoffs…I was for dumping him because I wanted to see him look as frsutrated as we felt on the sideline. That’s just not TD. But in fact HE was the one who DID bring winning football to Tampa.
If Lovie won the same % as Dungy did with Tampa we would have gone 9-7 last year and made the playoffs. But that’s the real problem. Lovie is no Tony Dungy.
