Bucs had no answer to Titans’ passing game early.
The goal of just about every defensive coordinator is to turn an opponent into a one-dimensional offense.
That way the defense can tee off.
Lovie Smith’s defense sure accomplished that goal in the early going. In the first quarter, the Bucs held Tennessee to a mere seven yards rushing. That’s right, seven yards rushing.
Yet the Bucs found themselves trailing 21-0 some nine minutes into the game. Why? Because the Bucs were getting totally throttled through the air by a rookie quarterback making his first NFL start, nearly tossing a perfect game.
Shameful, just absolutely shameful. Lovie’s defense knew the throws were coming and still couldn’t stop them.
Just a friggin’ disgrace!

Joe. Instead of hyping the public with Jameis, Americass QB, try hyping the dismissal of Lovie with the same vigor.

Let’s see, Mariota sets two NFL records and ties another and we let him slip right through our fingers on draft day. I’m sure the Titans coaching staff and management were dancing all over the place when they saw how stupid the Bucs were letting that happen.

Whether or not we are talking about Jameis, offense, defense, or all phases of the game….it is true. Loves defense sucked balls. They should have game planned better. I mean if lovie states he is going to take over with play calling duties, you don’t expect this crap. The Titans finished with interceptions. We just kept almost catching the INTs, but dropping them. We did that soo much last year. Not finishing the plays. I knew it was going to be a bad game when I saw M. Evans on the inactive list. Right off the back. Sure ASJ played good, but just about when it was too late, Jameis picks were just poor decisions. Throws he should have not made. Sure it made soo many fans mad. They were stupid mistakes. Now everyone thinks we should have picked Mariota. Sure when new Jameis threw a lot of picks in college, but did we know Mariota would develop this fast. I mean its happening,…you could see it in the preseason too. While Jameis has been having issue with the transition to the NFL. Im not giving up yet. Im a die hard Bucs fan, but I hope Lovie has a better game plan next week. I can imagine his seat will be heating up.

Mariota ain’t gonna look as good as he did today, when he finally faces a competent NFL defense. Bucs D gave him that statline today.

Reality just punched BUCS fan right in the face!
As a Gator fan I never liked or wanted Jamius. As a BUCS Fan i want him to succeed. Today many saw exactly what every non-FSU fan has been seeing for 2 years. Jamius is slow and fails to execute consistently. Unlike others on this post I don’t think Winston will ever take the Bucs where we hope to go. Playing the QB position isn’t it is something corrected overnight quality QB skills are inherated at birth. Jamius would be a great Canadian League foot ball player but he will never win as many games as Mike Glennon.
Play out the year and at the end of the year cut the teams loses. Fire Lovie and cut Jamius. Bring in Josh McDaniels and draft another QB in the first round until we get the right one. Just dont tread water for 5 years with Josh Freeman 2.0.
Typical Jimbo Fisher QB Emanual, Winston, Booty, Mauch, Davey and Russel. All with slow releases and rely on superior talent around them to compete.

Ok Dallas Buc they have played one game you are a genius and we should just cancelled the season now. Seriously are you brain dead? You morons complain that we just run the old cover two and that is why Lovie is done. Well if you actually watched the game you would know that most of the big plays came in man to man but that would ruin your narrative. The bottom line is the players just sucked out loud today and Tenn played great. Not to mention the usual crap with your boyfriend Mariota fumbling in the endzone but it being called dead or us getting a first down and then getting moved back a yard on a challenge or the bs call on the first play of the game where they called a personal foul. I will never get that call themselves a fan of a team and then route against them, to me you are just pathetic. But enjoy your day because Jameis is going to get this turned around and once it happens you will be miserable cause you are not truly a Bucs fan or you could not be happy today.

Any quarterback can drop back and quick-throw 5 yards to an uncovered slot receiver running straight down the field, like it seemed Mariota did a dozen times today.

Apparently not any. Some can’t even complete a normal NFL out without a pick6…some have difficulty with a simple screen pass…
Fameis will get better…could he play any worse…but no matter how great Fameis becomes it will not diminish MM. They are two different players with two different skill sets. Why do we have such difficulty admitting that YES today we were outcoached but also outplayed and embarrassed at the most important position QB. I’m up here in the boonies and had to watch this on TV…the announcers must have been watching a different game. They kept praising MM’s quick release, poise, decision making and accuracy. They would play replays illustrating this. Alas they also ran the replays showing Fameis horrid footwork…throwing off the wrong foot…and the horrible decisions.
But it’s not the end of the world. Fameis is simply not NFL ready..we were lied to…doesn’t mean he can’t be good or maybe even still great. He’s the first QB since Brett Favre to toss a pick six on his first NFL pass. LOL Not bad company.
And again..an FSU QB won our only SB. Nobody called Brad Johnson a superstar so it doesn’t matter if Fameis is better than MM…he just needs to be good enough to lead us to the promised land. He may not be ready until next year.

I Think Jameis will be fine, he’ll develop into a solid pocket passer. But I was one of the few who was standing by lovie and thinking he would right the ship, I’m so done with this clown. Get someone to light a fire under these kids and run a competent defense, that was shameful.

This was an entire team effort and the king pin is Lovie. Sorry, but this man has had last season and this entire off season to try to get this team prepare to play football and he has failed. You expect a couple hiccups on opening day, but this is ridiculous. My kids pop warner team is more football ready. There is a disconnect between the players and coaches and Lovie is to blame.
Oh, and dont go getting down on Winston for todays game. Hes a good QB and will find success in this league. He did as good as expected with Lovie at the helm. DB55 is right, Lovie is an empty suit.

Pretty sure every team is going to run play action against us until our LBs don’t pounce on every fake.
Those who are blaming Winston…really? He is a rookie, he can’t block, and play defense. The online was abysmal, the defense atrocious, and play calling was highly questionable.

All of you who are whining that we didn’t pick Mariota… He would have looked like crap out there, too!
This is a team with gaping holes on defense, offensive line (Cherilus needs to be escorted out of One Buc Palace) and special teams. Mariota couldn’t have made anyone play better on the Bucs.
Heck, I was amazed that ASJ was able to catch the balls thrown his way.
I still have hopes of Lovie finding a way to light a fire under everyone, but I am stocking up on Scotch just in case.
