Barth “Not Surprised”
August 27th, 2015Joe cannot remember a kicker jettisoned by a team but a year later found his way back to said team’s roster.
That happened last night when Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht inked former Bucs kicker Connor Barth to a pact.
If you are signing a kicker in the final days of August, then that’s a sure sign you are not happy with the current status of kickers. Patrick Murray, beware.
And despite the odd timing of Barth’s signing, just hours after he was let go by the Broncos, this didn’t shock Barth, so he told Woody Cummings of the Tampa Tribune.
“In this industry you’re never really surprised any more by what happens,’’ Barth said. “You just put out your best effort every day, but I didn’t fit into the grand scheme of things there. I’m just glad the Bucs reached back out to me.’’
In Barth’s first go-around with the Bucs, he missed just 17 of 108 attempts. Barth made all but one of his 16 field goal attempts last year with the Broncos.

I thought Barth made 16 of 17 attempts last year?

Barth is more accurate than Murray……unless we have another punter that can handle kickoffs….this looks good for Koenen to stay because Barth’s leg isn’t as strong.

Bucs signed Punter Schum (On Bucs Practice Squad last season) who not only a solid punter and does kick-offs and onside kicks well. Look for Barth and Schum to both make this team if they perform well over the next two weeks.

The Broncos must have thought Barth was too expensive, despite that kind of production. Must be that wacky weed wafting in the mile high breeze.

Barth can’t kickoff.. That’s why the Broncos went with McManus.

The Broncos went back to their former K McManus they seem to think he corrected his kicking issues and like his kick offs better. They also had to make room on their roster due to signing Evan Mathis.

I was a big fan of Murray last year, but he lost something this year and his loss will be our “loss” too. (yay wordplay). I was also a fan of Barth Vader. amusing because I actually posted in the live Bengals thread on Joe’s message boards that Murray was making me miss Barth Vader. Welcome back!

“Barth can’t kickoff.. That’s why the Broncos went with McManus.”
Yeah, Barth lost his job when McManus kicked a 70 yd filed goal in practice and Barth could only manage a 65 yd one. I’ll tahe that!

Welcome back Barth.

I always liked this guys leg, he is accurate as hell. The Bucs is Connor’s home. Last year, he had to have lost some strength in his leg from the basketball injury. Kicking in Denver was good for him because it gave him a chance to kick in high altitude while building the strength in his leg back. It worked out well for him. I believe he will make this team.

Glad to have you back Connor. Home sweet home!
