“Just Out Here Competing”
August 11th, 2015Who gives a damn about back shoulder throws and pass coverage over the middle when your favorite football team busts out in a baseball brawl with shoving and pushing and hollering?
That’s entertainment, and you will be hard-pressed not to find anyone at Bucs training camp practice today to suggest that was not a highlight.
What precipitated the heated exchange under the brutal Tampa sun is unclear ,but what was clear was that Bucs offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter was pulling “America’s Quarterback,” Bucs signal-caller Jameis Winston, out of the scrum.
Jameis, like Lovie Smith in his press conference, tried to brush off the incident, flashing that million dollar smile of his and attempting to laugh off the outburst.
“We are just out here competing,” Jameis said. “Obviously, it was quick and we got back to things and got back to football.”
When Joe asked Jameis why he was involved and if he was just trying to pull bodies off of the pile and got caught up in things, Jameis again smiled and said he wanted to get back to balling.
“No, I was just trying to get back to playing football,” Jameis said. “Blitz period is a period we like — a period we take pride in.”
Jameis did add that it’s getting old beating up on the same people day after day after day, and he suggested the rasslin’ match sparked between George Johnson and Demar Dotson was little more than training camp fatigue.
“We are very excited for this weekend against Minnesota, you better believe it,” Jameis said.

Hey Joe don’t have like a 25 million dollar smile? Man I thought you was a big fan now you’re down grading him. Don’t uncle sam take enough taxes now you wanna lower the price of his smile? Bwahaha!

Isn’t the blitz period the time Jameis throws all of his INTs? That just shows you how competitive he is. He is not shying away from the challenge in no way shape or form. “Blitz period is a period we like — a period we take pride in.” That just fires me up because that means he is constantly studying to get better at being blitzed. He wants to be blitzed. Got to love it!!!

No jaws broken? Darn. We could have gotten mad media coverage. Oh well.

Geez. If that actually happened, this place we be completely out of control.

I love what I hear from the guy, truly. I’m just crossing my fingers he can actually deliver at some point in the future. And I don’t mean this year. The expectation of him being above average is silly. As long as he’s not Manziel, Geno or Vinny – or even Freeman I’ll be satisfied.

Was listening to NFL Sirrus this morning and the announcers werd as much as saying Mariota was making to many easy throws and not trying to fit the ball into tight windows.

Beat him up Bucs, Mariota that is. Let him walk off the field though.
