Lovie Talks “America’s Quarterback”

There is no secret that “Jaws,” former NFL Super Bowl quarterback and current BSPN analyst Ron Jaworski, was not much of a fan of “America’s Quarterback,” Bucs signal-caller Jameis Winston. In fact, just before the draft, someone hung Jaws out to dry claiming the Bucs were not going to draft Jameis.
We all know how much baloney that was.

Yes we need a competition between the first overall pick in the draft versus a 3 round QB that has not done anything in three years. Lets get real realist this Lovie hate is worse than your Clayborn hate!

If it was any other Coach I maybe concerned that Lovie is going to limit his OC ability to game plan by limiting him to 20 to 23 throws a game. But he never tells the truth in interviews. Keeping it close into the 4th quarter is his thing though.

You are so right!!! And wait until Lovie, Instead of having Jameis and the offense pick up a first down to win a game. goes ultra conservative so “HIS” defense can win the game but loses!!!

Lovie knows that having Jameis under center gives the Bucs the best chance to WIN from day 1.

What’s actually quite interesting is that Jaws was actually very high on Jameis at one point during the workup to the draft. Then all of a sudden he flipped a switch and went negative. I remember it because I couldn’t believe how he had changed so drastically when it came out of his mouth. Wish I would have DVR’d the stuff so I could ask him what changed his mind so suddenly.

A lot of the big named Analysts switched they’re stance at the last minute on Jameis winston. Gruen, Jaws, Mayock just the first ones I remember. Immediately changed they’re mind. John Gruden as well.
I really feel like the rest of the league has something against the Bucs. I don’t know why. It seems as though they were trying to make the bucs second guess they’re decision and take someone else so James would go to ANY other team.
But now that he’s here, they’re not going to continue to fabricate nonsense as to why he’s not worth the #1 pick. They know when he looks good they would look foolish. I really feel like they were trying to sway the Bucs decision because they do not want him to succeed. Must be something with the Glaziers. I don’t know if thats just some crazy thought or a real possibility.

Realist is dead on about Lovie and his mindset to let his defense win the games. I think Koetter will give him a piece of his mind if it happens though. Cuter like doing things his way and that’s where my only hope comes from.
On the other hand….if Lovie DOESN’T give Kotter the freedom he needs in key situations…than maybe Lovie will get fired, Koetter will be promoted and then the Bucs will have the offensive minded head coach I have been asking for since Gruden was fired.

I think we should go back to the days of putting up some points, letting the def loose and running down their throats.
Eric Hughes- I stay in touch with a friend who use to be a local sports news guy & now works for ESPN. He told me they were told to make the QB comparison seem closer than it was and in order to do that they needed people endorsing both sides. Maybe Jaws falls in that category.

Kevin – a head coach with a proven NFL Defensive background – combined with a very talented QB and good OC is the best way to win championships. Does that set up sound familiar?
People can bring up the rule changes and try to argue the point all they want. But the simple fact is that a dominating DEFENSE will almost always win you Championships if the offense is top 15 or better.

Dirk Koetter wasn’t the Bucs 1st choice for OC, they wanted Mike Mularkley but the Titans refuse to let the Bucs interview him. So that tells me that Lovie don’t want a gunslinger as his QB, and I don’t blame him. Mike Martz tried that in Chicago and we how that went. Kyle Orton attempted 368 passes as a rookie with the Bears in 2005,he started 15 games. So he averaged 24.5 passes a game, but the Bears was 10-5 in those games. You don’t want to have a rookie QB throwing 40 passes a game,but there will be games that Jameis throw 40 passes. And there will be games when he throws 20 passes, last season the Falcons with Koetter as the OC attempted 133 passes to their backs. And they caught 102 passes, I think we will see a lot of that this season with Jameis.
