Bucs RT Demar Dotson is on this third rookie starting quarterback.

Bucs right tackle Demar Dotson won’t say it, but Joe is guessing he’s had his fill of rookie quarterbacks.

Dotson was not starting in 2009 when then-rookie, leaky, sleepy Josh Freeman started every game after the Bucs left London with their tails between their legs.

Then, two years ago, after Freeman melted down mentally and the Bucs cut him loose, it was another rookie quarterback, Mike Glennon, who took over the reins of the offense.

Now, it is “America’s Quarterback,” Bucs signal-caller Jameis Winston, who will share the huddle with Dotson.

“I wouldn’t say I am sick of rookie quarterbacks,” Dotson said. “My biggest thing is to focus on my job. I don’t care who is back there taking snaps. Rookie or not, I have to do my job. Who is taking the snaps? It really doesn’t bother me. If we [are] not successful as a unit, it doesn’t matter who is back there, we could have Peyton Manning back there. We won’t be successful because we are not doing our job. We do what we can do and that is our job. That is what we control.”

Though Jameis is a rookie, Dotson said by the way he carries himself, it is as if Jameis has a few NFL seasons under his belt.

“I think the biggest thing that I see is the difference is his attitude,” Dotson said when comparing Jameis to Freeman or Glennon. “He has a winning mentality. He gets us excited. He is alwasy pep-talking. I don’t know if it is real or not but he always has a good, positive attitude. He’s trying to motivate us, get us going. So that is one thing I see that is different.”

Dotson said the best way to help Jameis transition to the NFL is simple.

“Block for him and give him the time he needs to do what he can do,” Dotson said. Jameis “is mature past his age. That’s one thing that we can see on this field, that he has a mature mentality when he is in the huddle.”
