Dolphins Re-Sign Josh Freeman; Haters Stunned

July 28th, 2015

Man, bizarre happenings seem to follow former Bucs franchise quarterback Josh Freeman.

This time leaky, sleepy Freeman was cut by the Dolphins late last week, only to be re-signed this week, per the Palm Beach Post.

Joe gently wagged a finger at Peter King yesterday for suggesting Freeman’s career was done. That just made no sense. Every report out of spring practice in Miami painted Freeman as a good, reliable teammate — and he even had some standout practices.

In a league that pays Josh McCown $5 million a year, surely Freeman is good enough to be a backup somewhere, assuming he can manage to get out of bed.

Joe’s happy because now there will be a shred of intrigue surrounding the typically boring-ass preseason finale. The Bucs play at Miami for that game. And if Freeman sticks around, there’s a great chance he’ll be starting that game against Tampa Bay.

Regarding what happened with Freeman in Miami, Joe’s confident it was somehow about money. Isn’t everything?

Correct Joe. That was my first thought too when I read the headline. It’s gotta be about money.

  2. Couch Fan Says:

Ahh my Pick 6 prediction is still alive!!!

  3. The Buc Realist Says:

LOL, JFro is so terrible, the Dolphins will cut him twice before the season!!!! LOL!!!!

  4. rayjay1122 Says:

That picture always cracks me up. Maybe the Bengals will sign him after the Dolphins eventually cut him again, since he has a history with tigers.

  5. Idontwannahearitanymore Says:

He was cut because of a typo and they corrected it?

  6. DallasBuc Says:

Good luck Freeman! Hope you can get a chance somewhere to play again and you are able to take advantage.

  7. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Freeman is history, gone, departed, terminated, through, finished, vanished, elsewhere, SYONARA, ADIOS, AU-REVOIR, Auf WIEDERSHEN, CHEERIO, ADJO, ANTIO, DO SVIDANIYA, HASTA LA VISTA, BYE-BYE…. SO LONG Of course, Schiano would say CAIO!!!

  8. DavidbigBucsFan Says:

I hope the best for that young man. Though he gave us some nerve wracking games he also gave us some that had us all thinking we had us a franchise qb. He did have some of that ‘it’ factor with some of the exciting come from behind wins he gave us. Personality wise he was so aloof without any passion. He had it on the field though. But obviously he didn’t love football ir he wouldn’t have let Schiano kill his confidence. A real competitor would have kept Glennon on the bench just like Jameis is about to do. I just don’t understand the hate some have for him. Like he did something personal to you.

  9. BucTrooper Says:

This site tracking Josh Freeman is kind of sad. It’s like constantly checking on your ex-GF on Facebook to see if she’s gotten fat yet.

  10. ToesOnTheLine! Says:

So Bowers and Freeman both pull a Lazurus on the teams who last left them for dead? If the Jags pull a similar move with one of their players I’m going to question what’s been added in the Florida water supply? 🙂

  11. Love and Warrick Dunn Says:

Camp arm. He won’t make the roster barring an injury to the other QBs

  12. drdneast Says:

Chided some out here who displayed a lot of hate for him on the board although I am no longer a fan of Free’s.
Josh needs to stand up and be accountable for his actions and explain what happened here in much the same manner Chris Carter did.
Buddy Ryan was taking a lot of heat for cutting him until Carter manned up, explained the facts and also credited Ryan with saving his career
Until Free does that, the incident will continue to haunt him.

  13. Tom S. Says:

So Joe has turned the Dolphins resigning a player they cut a couple of days before training camp as vindication that his career is alive and well? And that this was a contract dispute of some kind? Are you serious? What information other than brain dead logic did you find that would indicate to you that a guy who was completely out of the league last football season and has been cut by 3 teams in 4 years was in some contract dispute or had other teams clamoring for his services?

  14. BrianBucs Says:

Sounds like the Dolphins needed a quick open roster spot to sign somebody that was about to sign somebody else, with the understanding with Freeman that they would resign him in a week or so. This is a common practice in the NFL

  15. Garett Says:

How does this save them money? Could they cut him from a certain contract and bring him back at a cheaper price?
As a man, I wish him the best in his future endeavors. As a football player, I’m severely disappointed of how he let his fans down with his poor work ethic.

  16. whocares92 Says:

    @Buc trooper
That’s a really funny and accurate way to depict it

  17. SchlomieBarMitzvahCircumScissorStein Says:

Prolonging the inevitable. Maybe Freeman, Galloway and Derrick Brooks could form a flag football team.

  18. Mike10 Says:

They hate us cause they anus

  19. Mike10 Says:

What’s the deal w ATL trying out Jake Long…. and not us? I don’t think there are any compensatory picks when your franchise QB get broken in half

  20. PRBucFan Says:

Lol every team needs warm bodies for the depth chart.

At the very least he can do that right… Right?

  21. PRBucFan Says:

And quit lying to yourself we all know your still a Freemanite.

I pray for your soul. Smh lol

  22. PRBucFan Says:

    TBBF

I glad you still are using the “Free Free is gone speech”

    Lol Good times

  23. Joe T. Says:

What’s the obsession with Freeman on this site? Let the poor kid try to get his life back on track. You guys act like we never had horrible qbs before or after Freeman. Let it go.

  24. Joe Says:

@Tom S. – You really need to check your reading skills.

  25. MTM Says:

Freeman fits right in down in Miami. The perfect location for someone with his “alleged” issues. Freeman really leaned out in the last 4 years with his special diet plan. To bad he can’t throw a 8 yard slant to save his life. Miami better hope their number 1 QB never goes down.

  26. Eric Says:

I still like the Raheem/Freeman wedding photo the best.

  27. Tom S. Says:

“Regarding what happened with Freeman in Miami, Joe’s confident it was somehow about money.”

Maybe Joe can clarify that vague comment about money. I can read fine, but reading minds is another matter.

  28. Buc1987 Says:

Tom I think it means he was originally signed for a much higher amount at first. Then let go because the Fins realized he wasn’t worth what they were paying him. Then re-signed for a lower amount.

That’s just me though. Perhaps Joe has another reason or perhaps once again we’re both on the same page…

  29. PRBucFan Says:

Yes let’s leave the poor kid alone 😢

It’s so sad he may not get to make millions…
Or that he may very soon have to find a regular job like majority of humankind.

Like Freeman has a chance to make the final roster with Miami. By the way, who backs up MG8 at QB for the Bucs?

I like it. Once a Buc, always a Buc. You don’t com-plain about news on Alstott, Brooks, Lynch or Sapp, so why complain about news on free?

Personally, I’m hoping it gets it together, even if it isn’t with us (long as its not against us).

  32. StPeteBucsFan Says:

I’m not a hater but I certainly have no respect for JFro’s game. He’s waaay overrated.

However I’m not shocked that he still has a gig. I wouldn’t be shocked if he threw for 400+ yards and won a game for the Dolphins.

I WOULD be shocked if JFro displayed any consistency. Even in his glory days this was a kid who could feather a simple swing pass to a back out of the backfield. One moment he’d hit a 50 yard bomb finding the receiver in stride, the next he’d overthrow a wide open receiver ten yards downfield. One moment he would run better than Newton or Kaepernik, the next he would run around like a chicken with his head cut off.

JFro lacks what it takes to be a good QB in the NFL. Consistency. That was apparent even before the drugs and erratic personal behavior.

  33. Vincente Says:

Yes! Take advantage of this opportunity Freeman. I have defended you on this website since you first put on a bucs helmet. I’m rooting for ya man!!!

  34. pick6 Says:

players come and go, and i almost always wish them well even if they stunk playing for my team. but until josh acknowledges his hand in tearing down and actively staining the reputation of the organization that made every over-the-top effort to build the franchise’s future around him (remember VJax’ $55,555,555 contract?), i can’t bring myself to have any positive feelings for him or his future.
