Official Bucs Website Celebrates Warren Sapp

In February, NFL Network fired Warren Sapp after Arizona cops busted him for an assault charge related to a $600 threesome with hookers.
This summer, Sapp got pinched on ugly-sounding domestic violence charges.
The NFL shuns these activities, especially in the wake of the Ray Rice travesty. So it was somewhat shocking to Joe to see Sapp get love on the Buccaneers’ official website yesterday.
A prominent photo gallery link was on the home page titled, “PHOTOS: Best of Warren Sapp.” It was still there as of early this morning.
Joe has no problem with it.
Heck, Joe covered the Bucs in Buffalo last year and saw that O.J. Simpson remains in the Bills’ Wall of Fame, proudly displayed before tens of thousands in Ralph Wilson Stadium. Of course, Sapp is no O.J., not even close.
Sapp’s accomplishments in pewter and red (and orange for two seasons) should not be — and cannot be — ignored.
It’ll be interesting, though, to see if the Bucs organization remains welcoming to Sapp coming to One Buc Palace to mingle with players and staff during training camp and the offseason. Sapp has done just that for several years.

Come on Joe, the Bucs web site has been running the feature, “Fans’ Favorite All-Time Bucs” countdown for a week or so now and Sapp is the 5th most popular Buc of all time. They run a Best Of photo piece on each player selected. Did you really think that they would just skip over him and not give him equal treatment like the rest of the list. Non story.

Sapp’s indiscretions are mild in today’s almost anything goes reality, nothing new under the sun. If he wasn’t well known, his bad boy image would hardly register a blip publicly, even on the mainstream media police blotter news.

I never rooted for Warren Sapp. I always rooted for the sacks he produced.
I never had any love for Warren, even long before these incidents, because Warren has enough love for Warren. He doesn’t need any from the fans and he made that abundantly clear while he was in Tampa.
We pay them millions for playing a kids game and the least they could do is show some minimal gratitude. Warren Sapp doesn’t realize how incredibly LUCKY he is to be born with his physical gifts that enabled him to become a multimillionaire, although perhaps that’s temporary.
Sports is entertainment. Winning obviously is important but I’m entertained by a lot more than the record. I loved DB55 and Warrick Dunn and the rest of those guys who realize their good fortune. I’m not entertained by loudmouthed Sapp at all, although i certainly recognize his athletic contributions during our SB run. That’s it though. Hard to root for a loud mouthed arrogant ahole.

Sad that people think more of Warren Sapp then they do of Lee Roy Selmon….typical of today’ society.
