“When Are You Going To Get Tired Of Complaining?”

July 13th, 2015

McCoy mugGerald McCoy either wants a career as the next Tony Robbins, or he’s sending backhanded messages to his teammates on Instagram.

Here’s the link to see for yourself. It’s McCoy’s “Motivation Mondays.”

McCoy has been very active this offseason on social media, where he’s been spinning messages of being sick and tired of losing, and showcasing all kinds of physical work, including attacking pass rush drills while barefoot in the sand in a remote area.

Today, McCoy cranked out a general motivational message that felt like it was meant for his fellow Buccaneers.

“When are you going to get tired of complaining? When are you going to get tired of making excuses? If they don’t believe, make them believe!,” McCoy bellows on video. “A lot of people claim they want it. Very few people put in the work necessary to get it. Get out there and get it!”

It all sounds nice and, frankly, McCoy motivated Joe to type this post and make another few bucks today. Joe wonders what McCoy would say about a guy claiming he suffered because there wasn’t enough time to organize a barbecue.

Players don’t even need to be great……simply earn more than their paycheck like most of us have to do.
    Johnson, Collins…..EDS….McCown didn’t earn theirs.
GMC, LVD, ME13, Vjax…..even Glennon all at least put forward maximum effort.
It’s one thing for a player to lack talent….but for a player with talent to lack desire….that is inexcusable…..have some pride!!!

  2. HarriMags1 Says:

LVD getting love on NFL.com as 5th best tackler in the league. Good read if you have the time.

  3. Mike10 Says:

We need a another superstar w personality on that defense to balance/support Geraldini, someone with some attitude: like good cop, bad cop.

Really? Assume you’re talking about Mankins. Don’t remember him saying that last year in anything I read about him.

He’s been a superb Olineman his whole career. His numerous trips to the Pro Bowl speak for themselves. And it sounds like he put in the work during this off-season and has come back ready to do some good stuff. Let’s see how it all plays out.

  5. Vic Says:

Dude, how exactly was Mankins “superb” last year?

ESPN.com: Mankins spent his first weeks trying to play catch-up with a new team running new schemes, as well as finding a place to live. Without a permanent residence in Tampa, it was hard for him to serve as the ringleader for the line.

“It’s been difficult to do here,” Mankins conceded. “That was the great thing about there [in New England]. I have a good house for hosting, so we had the barbecues, and some of the guys over for Thanksgiving, even Christmas. Dan has taken that part over now.

“We [the Bucs’ line] haven’t quite developed that bond yet. It’s getting closer. Hopefully we’ll get together in the offseason and work on it.”

  6. cmurda Says:

@Vic He said Mankins has been superb his whole CAREER, not last year. The guy came over late and had to learn a whole new system on a different team. There is nothing wrong with him being honest and saying how they haven’t had the opportunity to bond but that they are working on it. I really don’t see what there is to complain about with Mankins. The guy was still our 2nd best O Lineman last year. EDS and Anthony Collins were pathetic. If you want to hate on somebody, pick either of those guys or Rockstar for completely ignoring the concept of drafting O Linemen.

There has got to be a moratorium on blaming “Rockstar”/Dominick. I don’t even know what that has to do with the article in the first place.

  8. Martinii Says:

Always good to listen to Gerald. Wish we had about 40 more like him. Need good vibes this time of year, not the boo hoo crowd. Is it just to much to ask for a little optimism, even from Joes band of cry baby’s.

    —————————–

Dominick has only been gone for one football season and going on the start of a new one so I can see how someone would still throw blame at his feet right now. The fact that his moves sucked for so long, I can also understand why someone would think he has been gone longer because his moves were irrelevant for so long. So there is that.

Dick2111…Joe’s posted the link to the BBQ comment many times before. Please don’t make him do it again. Most of us are tired of hearing about!

  11. Stanglassman Says:

Since LVD finished 2nd/3rd (depending on how you count them, top 5 to 8 the last 3 years) in the NFL saying he is the 5th best is hardly ‘Love’.

  12. BucTrooper Says:

This sounds like GMC is calling someone out specifically. Someone is squawking in the locker room.

  13. Ray Rice Says:

    @JOE

LMFAO. That was priceless. It’s that easy huh boss?

  14. drdneast Says:

You really are a bore and so unoriginal with this whole barbecue thing, Joe. Try and think some new and or in all material.
This is getting real stale and tiresome.

  15. Buc1987 Says:

Yeah Joe I agree with drdneast I know it’s the off season and it’s down time but be creative and come up with something for all of us to fight about.lol

  16. StPeteBucsFan Says:

    @TBBF

Very well said. At the end of the day if you’ve given it your best shot that’s all anybody can ask.

But as you pointed out a significant percentage of last year’s Bucs who were in critical positions simply lacked pride. They embarrassed themselves completely.

Alas they also embarrassed us as well. Hard for fans to take pride in team that has no pride itself.

I’m very optimistic that L&L have eliminated the cancers and GMC has some decent human beings with enough pride to get motivated on the team this year.

  17. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

This reminds me of when Sapp, Brooks and Lynch got together and did the same thing. Sapp was the more vocal one.

I also have not missed that Sapp has a lot of spare time on his hands…and he is GMCs mentor.

I have to wonder if Sapp has intensified his mentoring.

Imagine if Sapp, Rice, Culpepper, Lynch and company came together in the off season to spend time coaching up our defense. Wow.

  18. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

We have our Sapp and Brooks…all we need is our Lynch!

  19. WS99 Says:

I would love to see gmc working out with his teammates kinda like jaboo. Try to build that chemistry as early as possible. Still waiting for that bbq video to post online too. We’ll get there, hopefully.

    *****************************
We had our lynch but Lovie traded him for a 16th round pick. Lynch although the GOAT wasn’t exactly an INT machine. Lynch brought the pain n so did #23. If you got past sapp n Brooks good luck getting past lynch. Same with #93, #54 n #23. Why isn’t he starting for the Rams? He will. That’s a great unit they have no reason to fix it.

  21. Buc-A-New Says:

What up DB? Sorry I am so late tonight. Lots of distractions. How goes it ?

  22. drdneast Says:

WS99, I dont know whose safeties you have been looking at for the past two years but the only things ours excelled ai was blown coverages and personal fouls. They were even bouncing off of backs running sideways in their backfield.
I still remember Goldson on a helmet to helmet hit on a third and long play and with yellow flags flying all around him slapping palms with Andrew Gaitor. That’s not being tough, that’s being stupid.
Barron was no Einstein either. Pile drives RG III into the turf.
You can’t even do that in Pop Warner.
    Both those guys were bums.

  23. WS99 Says:

Sup Buc. I never came back to check the replies. Lol. Oops.

  24. tampa2bucsforever Says:

I just wish GMC could be a little bit meaner. I agree on our safeties. Goldson and Barron were not the answer and neither is McDougald (he is considered our best with 64% passes completed against him and 12 missed tackles), D.J. Swearinger, I watched a game he was in last year and he just disappeared the entire game. Major Wright got burned for four TD last year and is average at best. Keith Tandy barley saw the field last year but in 2013 was the highest rated safety by PFF for the Bucs. Honestly I think Chris Conte is our best guy? What does that tell you? There is an UDFA that gets my attention. Derrick Wells. 6-0, 205, 4.4 speed, can hit, ball hog and cover. Give hum a spin.
