Tedford Takes It On The Chin
July 7th, 2015Jeff Tedford wanted to return and lead the Buccaneers offense after his heart trouble last year, but the figurative gates of One Buc Palace were slammed in his face.
eye-RAH! Kaufman of The Tampa Tribune likely would say it was all part of the Chase for Jameis. History might never know the truth.
Tedford severed ties with the Bucs on Dec. 5 and quickly snatched the head coaching job for the B.C. Lions of the CFL.
Joe confesses to keeping tabs on Tedford. Opening day for Tedford and his Lions was July 4. Tedford was beaten soundly, 27-16, despite his team being a whopping 14-point favorite against a club they hadn’t lost to in 19 years.
Impatient types in Vancouver were left wondering what the mysterious Tedford offense will really look like. That’s a question Bucs fans can’t answer.

Hmmmm

His name is Eff Tedford for me and while I respect Joe’s effort, I could care less if that dude is washing cars to raise money to pay his bills.
July 7th, 2015 at 1:15 pm
It takes time!!! Lmao
July 7th, 2015 at 1:20 pm
The guy screwed us over, plain and simple. I’m with @cmurda.
July 7th, 2015 at 1:24 pm
It was Lovie that said he didn’t want Tedford back from what I read…
Why hate on Tedford?
July 7th, 2015 at 1:39 pm
Actually….Tedford’s exit helped in the “Chase for Koetter”
July 7th, 2015 at 1:41 pm
I think Lovie probably had buyers remorse and wanted to move on. The offense is in better hands with Koetter and Bajakian.
July 7th, 2015 at 1:50 pm
That’s because he’s missing his QB coach Arroyo!
July 7th, 2015 at 2:05 pm
Thank you Mr Telford for a brighter future in Tampa and dark days in Vancouver..Lulay>mccown

i’ll reserve judgement for a few years. depending on how glennon and winston turn out, the guy may have done the bucs the biggest favor imaginable. we did not have the most talented offense in the league by any measure, but we certainly played WAAAAY below our collective ability and could not have have lost 14 games without possibly the worst 16-game OC in NFL history. and i make that statement having watched all manner of garbage roaming the sideline making the offensive playcalls here in Tampa Bay

@Buc1987
If you read Pewter Report’s version of events, it sounds like Tedford was supposed to be out something like 4-6 weeks, so he’d miss the preseason and then maybe a week or two of regular season play. When that time was up, he saw that the team was struggling, and claimed that he still wasn’t feeling up to snuff. After he kept putting off his return week after week, Lovie finally told him in week 8 or so to just forget it, they’d go on without him.
July 7th, 2015 at 3:27 pm
Depending on what the team’s record was when he tried to comeback it made sense to tell him to stay put at home.
July 7th, 2015 at 3:42 pm
Get your s#h$t together licht. Please don’t turn into another Dominick.
July 7th, 2015 at 3:49 pm
If I remember correctly, Joe talked with Tedford directly and got a full story with gory health details. Pewter Report was just a mix of top secret sources, which are worth about as much as a day old fried egg.
July 7th, 2015 at 4:12 pm
Blame Lovie, he was ok with Arroyo. Just liked he’s ok with losing and mediocrity
July 7th, 2015 at 4:31 pm
It’s pile on Tedford time. The pile is too high to throw anything on top. Most everyone was excited that Tedford was going to juice up the offense, and then he was gone. He escaped to Canada, just like many drafted Vietnam vets who didn’t like what they were seeing. Or like Culverhouse’s jilted at the altar, fans ditched him like yesterdays garbage.
July 7th, 2015 at 5:48 pm
He wanted to come back…lovie and liqht said no. I have nothing against tedford and wish him the best of luck
July 7th, 2015 at 7:04 pm
Thanks Tedford for Jameis!
July 7th, 2015 at 7:04 pm
“Takes it on the Chin”
JUST LIKE TXMACON!!
“It’s as simple as that” – Lovie Smith
July 7th, 2015 at 7:40 pm
We have Winston and Koetter now.
All’s well that ends well. Fire up those Cannons!
July 7th, 2015 at 7:49 pm
I mean really what did you expect? The guy got run out of cal for not winning games and you think he’d come to the NFL and succeed. Really? Only Lovie.
July 7th, 2015 at 7:59 pm
@87,
I could be wrong and if I am, I will man up and say so and wish success for Eff Tedford. I, however, after doing lots of math from the integers that Joe and media has gotten out of Tedford, have come to the conclusion that the guy was wishy washy for several weeks after he had recovered. There was little to no loyalty in my opinion and eventually Lovie said thanks, but no thanks. Why would Lovie just oust his handpicked guy for no reason? It doesn’t make sense and doesn’t make Lovie look good that he brings in a guy that never calls a play in the regular season as his OC. Either it became glaringly obvious that Tedford had no clue or Tedford screwed the pooch. Either way Lovie was the pooch.

TBBF BEST POST OF THE DAY.
I wonder if Pablo actually figured that out and you stole it.
July 7th, 2015 at 8:44 pm
Living in Mountain Time sucks for being able to talk to you guys after work.
Oh well. I don’t miss the 100 degree heat with 90% humidity.
July 7th, 2015 at 9:08 pm
I like that analysis Tampabaybucfan. It lead to Koetter, and I’ll be the first to say I’m swingin from WINSton’s jewel sac,but in my opinion the Koetter hire is d@$! near just as crucial as it was drafting Jamies. He develops QBs y’all,be knows how to attack NFL defenses.
July 7th, 2015 at 9:17 pm
I got you Buc. My favorite Tedford moment was the facepalm picture. It might have been preseason and they snapped a pic of him with his face in his palms. Like “wtf have I gotten my self into?”
@cmurda
I vaguely recalls some discussion, gossip or rumors of Lovie and Tedford arguing and yelling at each other. I’m sure it was Tedford yelling not Lovie bc well it’s Lovie but maybe that had something to do with it too. Truthfully who gives a flying …. They both sucked anyway.
July 7th, 2015 at 9:32 pm
Tedford did us a Solid. That is all. Next.
July 7th, 2015 at 9:41 pm
Yup
July 7th, 2015 at 9:59 pm
You want a shot of this 147 proof DB?
July 7th, 2015 at 11:08 pm
lol cmurda
July 7th, 2015 at 11:10 pm
Tedford wanted to come back after the season was lost, I don’t blame Lovie for slamming the door in his face.We have a real OC now, fire the cannons.

There is plenty to miss in Florida, living in North Dakota now but that ain’t one.

I have sympathy for anyone in a “real” life or death medical situation. Beyond that, contractual agreements must seem a bit less important. We all know the human side of things so it’s morbid to discuss what seems to be the ethics of both parties.
Tedford was able to get the maximum benefit of his medical insurance, partially paid for by the Bucs. And, the Bucs disappointment in the initial outcome of their hiring decision have improved both their roster and management. Tedford, for his part, has been able to secure employment.
WIN-WIN
