Wright No Threat To ASJ
June 27th, 2015One great Bucs problem is holes all across the lineup.
That’s why the team farted in the elevator last year and finished 2-14. A reason why the team stunk was virtually no depth to speak of.
When a team has as many holes as the Bucs did, that is damning evidence. That’s why Joe liked all the understated free agent signings this offseason — no splashes, but quality depth.
That’s where tight end Tim Wright comes in. Traded to the Belicheats last year for left guard Logan Mankins, Wright was cut last month and Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht pounced on him. Oddly enough, Adam Levitan of Rotoworld.com believes this could be bad news for a certain Bucs starter.
The Tim Wright addition isn’t the best news for Austin Seferian-Jenkins’ stock. They play different positions, but Wright has proven to be a real red-zone option.
Well, technically, both play the same position, but yeah, both are different players. Wright, clearly, is more of a receiver than a tight end. But Joe doesn’t think this is bad news for ASJ in any way.
ASJ is your starter. And he has had a fine spring, as far as underwear football goes. If he can stay healthy, ASJ could be dominant.
Wright will be used in special packages. He is not going to start so long as ASJ is healthy. If anyone needs to be worried, it is either Brandon Myers or fan favorite Luke Stocker, not ASJ.
In short, Wright adds quality depth.

I agree that wright is no threat to asj. Special packages and red zone. Asj will be used primarily through the game due too his ability to block. Defenses wont know what to do before the snap. He could either run a route block or pretend to be a blocker than sneak out to the middle . Koetter will be our savior ….along with lovies defense. I hope we find a way to keep koetter in tampa long term. Seems like the glaziers may be setting up another superbowl run in the next few years. Fingers crossed

Wright has a nose for the end zone. Dirk needs to find a way to get then both on the field at the same time. Wright could end up playing some wr also.

One could almost call this coming season ASJ’s rookie season. Same goes for Sims. ASJ seemed to get less action. Koetter will bring the best out of both of them.

I call bull$hit on that one. Especially if Ricky Dudley keeps dropping passes and fumbling the ball. Mr. Charmin better watch out.

I agree with you Dewey Selmon.

Wright is not as fast as ASJ and is no blocker but he has great hands and is the best red zone threat we have.

You can’t count Brandon Myer out, he once had a 79 receptions season for the Raiders, he also played decent for the Giants as a receiving TE. He should fit good in Dirk Koetter offense, but I don’t see a place for Luke Stocker in Koeeter offense.

Since there is no football to talk about, I caught 15 Trout today. One Rainbow of 23 inches and Three Browns over 20 with one being 25.
In the words of Ice Cube. “Today was a good Day”

Stocker becomes an H-back, and extra O-Lineman on short yardage situations.
No other Buc I’m aware of can do that…

@Cobraboy. Tim Tebow could. Damnit man, why does he have to be so stubborn to not change positions!!
June 27th, 2015 at 8:59 pm
i think he was a great pick up. have asj start through wright in the slot or at 2 te packages and let him catch the ball like he did for us his rookie year. awesome move licht.

Well if we have a 2 TE set. Stocker can provide depth behind ASJ, and T. Wright and B. Myers can battle for the other side. We will probably keep all four.Wright is also a good back up to the WR position and Stocker to the FB position. I just hope ASJ does have a breakout year after being selected in the 2nd round. She he was injured, but now he is healthy. Keep it up ASJ.

Buc-A-New, Tim Tebow reminds me of another QB who played for the Florida Gators, he also was a QB for the Lakeland Dreadnaughts. Wayne Peace is his name, Wayne also played for the Lakeland Gators.
