Fake Jameis

Joe’s been studying Jameis Winston closely since attending his first college game in Pittsburgh, long before he was “America’s Quarterback.”
And Joe’s enjoyed scrutinizing Jameis at the NFL Scouting Combine and at Bucs practices. Joe’s comprehensive Tuesday minicamp practice notes referenced a poised pump fake and subsequent completion over the middle to wide receiver hopeful Adam Humphries. Jameis appears to throw a tighter, stronger ball when he does this.
The Buccaneers appeared intrigued by this, too, and shared the Jameis fake-and-throw via the YouTube video below.
It’s stuff like this, on Father’s Day, that has Joe aching to see Jameis perform against real competition. Tampa Bay kicks off the preseason in Minnesota in 55 short days.
(Astute observers will note that Jameis ridiculously is performing with second- and third- teamers.)

Nice play …….. but by my count (one thousand one, one thousand two etc.) and my stopwatch, it took more than four, and almost five seconds before the ball left his hands. We’ll see if the OL line can give him that much time this year, because neither McCown nor Glennon enjoyed that luxury very often the last two years.
That is my biggest concern with Winston. At FSU, he was surrounded by superior talent (29 players drafted by the NFL over the last three years), and he very often enjoyed a HUGE pocket, and several seconds to throw.

I saw every game Winston played at FSU. He had lots of time in his first season, not so much in his 2nd though. There weer many instances where he was running for his life. So no worries on my end.
You’re actually counting seconds from that video? How the hell did you do that? I tried and watched 3 times and still can’t figure when he actually released the ball. Plus besides this is underwear football…..no worries.

You have to consider its in slow motion. Everything would look better at full speed. That shoulder roll would be much quicker and the ball would come out much faster. No where 4-5 seconds.

LOL! The ONLY time McCown (or Glennon) enjoyed more than four seconds, unmolested, was when they were standing on the sidelines.
We have to hope that Lovie/Licht puts together a better O-line than last years’ version. In fact, Jameis (and Glennon) are praying that the 2015 O-line is very much improved. The good news is that it can hardly be worse.
With a better defense hitting the field (fewer points-against and more offensive opportunities), a ‘real’ OC AND QB coach (offensive schemes designed for specific defenses), there will be no excuses for this Lovie/Licht team if they do not show improvement in the second half of the season (learning curve in first half).

Joe, eat a snickers and calm the hell down. If you get all hot in the pants after a slight pump fake and simple completion you will desensitize your regular crowd to most things Jameis (obviously not the Jameis Mafia).

BUCS STAFF: jameis is the quarterback you selected with the first overall pick. this is a win now league. the thing that worries people about rookies is lack of experience. so give him every single rep and more to prepare him for this season. $%^& mike glennon. i want jameis ready for week 1 of this year. not another season of a crappie record and hearing people talking about the potential with the bucs players. just stop trying to play games with the team and the fans by having glennon out there like there is a real competition going on in tampa at qb

come on guys why all this hate for jameis. isnt this what we’ve been waiting for for so long. im from ny and am so excited for anything bucs related even if most of my life this teams been as tough as it gets to stay a fan of. couldn’t imagine if i actually lived in tampa. all im saying is a qb can actually win you a game so why all the hate that we finally got the best college qb for the last two years

JW is with the 2nd string so he can learn how to be a pro. And not at the expense of our 1st team defense and offense. Glennon knows how to run off season ota’s and will challenge the D more at this point. JW will be with the 1st team at training camp.

Future hall of fame QB Jameis Winston laughs at 5th Best QB in the NFC South for saying Christian Hackenburg will be a #1 overall pick. Hackenburg is a lot like other Qb’s who have had terrible college seasons… He is terrible!

If anything, Winston’s release time should be sped up, considering he can’t be hit.
See now, we’re edging closer to seeing his faults made clear, and when that happens I’ll be saying “I told you so” a lot.
