Lovie Smith Declares, “We Are Going To Be A Good Football Team”

It took Joe a while to wrap his head around the big news of the day yesterday.
“We’ve seen marked improvement from so many of our players. We’ve are right on track. I think every time I’ve talked to you, I’ve talked about that. I feel like that’s where were are at right now. We are going to be a good football team.” — Lovie Smith, about 3:49 p.m., June 16, 2015.
Joe is going to dare to assume Lovie is talking about being a good football team this year.
So then how does Lovie define “good?”
Is “good” winning at least half your games? Does “going to be good” mean delivering a winning record in the second-half of the season? In that scenario, are the Bucs achieving goodness if they go 2-6 in the first half of the season and 5-3 in the second half?
Lovie told the world last December that the Bucs are “on the verge.” And he also advised fans that “football doesn’t really begin until November.”
It’ll all very confusing.
Joe simply considers a good team to be one that wins at least as much as it loses.
Regardless, Joe’s going to hold Lovie accountable to his bold proclamation.

note the sarcasm….come on joe but I guess because it’s your website you can base your article on the thought the best we can do is 6 wins which is basically a guess not actually looking at opponents we are facing this year and evaluating but I suspect you will get around to it.
I am glad lovie handled it like LeBron did, what was he supposed to say im the best player in the world but it’s just me scoring points with bad shooting percentages were doomed. no way anyone overcomes installing a new offense then losing the only coordinator that knows how to run it. he cant say all we got is McCoy to rush the passer, Michael Johnson is doing his best impression of jr smith so we’re doomed. as men they kept fighting and it should serve them well this year

I do not agree with Joe on being a good team if you win as many as you lose. To me, that is an average or mediocre team. Good is winning more than you lose and contending for a playoff spot. I am going to reserve judgement on my prediction until we see some real full pad practices and preseason games. Also, I have heard people say that preseason does not mean anything but we have looked like crap the past few preseasons and carried that right into the regular season. You should practice the way you intend on playing and preseason games are dress rehearsals. You expect to see some mistakes early on but also expect to see steady improvement and discipline. That has simply not been the case the past few seasons.

Lovie needs to shut up and win… This is NOT a good football team and it is being lead by the worst coach in the NFL which is 2-14 Lovie Smith. He will hold that title of the Worst Coach in the league until his team finishes better than dead last which it has yet to do. Although, I must compliment Lovie on his stellar 0-8 record at RayJay…

NOT one single free agent he signed for defense is a clear upgrade to the person they are replacing nor are any of them game changers… What they do all have in common is knowledge of an outdated passive defense and LONG histories of injuries… Go ahead and live in fantasy land thinking these garbage players that arse clown lovie signed that OTHER teams could not get rid of fast enough are clear cut improvements. They are not…

oh you got me lol…..you got me laughing at you. it’s cool I don’t hate you that much I kinda feel sorry for you. im sure you meant not one single free agent for defense is a clear upgrade except bruce carter over mason foster and jac smith over michael johnson and adrian clayborn just to name a few. it’s kinda stupid to give lovie credit for moves in the offseason that didn’t work out and give credit to licht during the season for the ones that do since it’s not a one man show oh and it’s also kinda dumb to separate the draft from free agents. an upgrade is an upgrade simple as that like lovie says. the o line has been upgraded but it’ll never be upgraded enough for simpleminded people like you who hate players and acquisitions before they even take the field in the uniform for training camp. it’s going to be a long season for you bro. i dont think you have enough man in you to give credit where credit is due even if the team does improve you’ll just attribute the success to someone else. keep on waiting for some superstar pass rusher to fall out of the sky since the are so easy to find. you still wont talk about your girlfriend letting Michael Bennett walk in free agency

We can one by one on each of the free agents but you clearly are not open minded enough to view a player nor coach with open mind.

Eh, kinda getting tired of these offseasons. Coming off a bad season and making a few moves here and there on top of the draft, and everybody is suddenly about to blow a load over how good the team is going to be. I used to be among that group, but not after Schiano’s 4-12 and certainly not after Lovie’s 2-14. This team is awful, and I’m not going to sit here and bash them all day, but I also won’t pretend like they are a good team either. I’m just gonna sit back and enjoy the show this year.
As of right now, the Bucs are the reigning worst team in the NFL, and hopefully they can change that this year. Can’t wait to see Jameis in action, and give us something to cheer for. I’m always excited to watch the Bucs, but it’s been a long time since I couldn’t wait each Sunday for a chance to watch my favorite team, and I used to hate bye weeks. The past few seasons whenever a bye week rolls around I just say “well, at least we won’t lose this week.”

I am tired and frustrated reading about two girls going back and fourth trying to one up each other. If you do not agree with a person’s comment simply ignore it and move on.
