Dotson: I Will Be At Minicamp

June 12th, 2015
Dotson confirms he will be at minicamp.

Dotson confirms he will be at minicamp.

It is official. And it comes from the right tackle’s own mouth.

Demar Dotson will report to mandatory minicamp next week at One Buc Palace.

That’s the word from Dotson by way of Woody Cummings of the Tampa Tribune, who Twittered out the news after talking to Dotson himself.

This is good to hear. Dotson and the Bucs can always work out their contract differences while Dotson practices with the team. Joe is glad to learn that cooler heads are prevailing.

UPDATE: Dotson offers more to Cummings on TBO.com saying the two sides are close to a new deal.

“I’m going to be there for minicamp,” Dotson told The Tampa Tribune on Friday.

“It’s my only chance to make a safe move and get contract talks going again, so I’ll be there. … I think we can get a deal done pretty quickly. … We were pretty close before. I’m hoping if I show up we can get it done.”

Seems his agent is trying to make up for the cheap deal he got last time. I see Dot is his ONLY NFL client. Come in and work Dot, good plan.

Dude should get a raise. He’s been solid and if Mankins is getting $8mil/year, Dot deserves more than $2.5

    Go Sucs!

Good move Dotson! Now it’s time for L&L to do their part and truly come up with a respectable/fair offer.

This could be like signing a free agent. Licht isn’t just going to hand over money he will also have an expectation dor Dotson to perform better. ( less penalties etc) he’s putting the spotlight on himself and he better step up, hopefully we restructure in a way we’re if he’s trash this year we can cut him with no dead money.

  6. Jim Says:

This is a very smart and calculated move. Skip the voluntary work to let management know your not happy, then show up to mandatory to let management know your a good team player.

  7. Ed Says:

Don’t see the big issue with missing voluntary otas especially if you are not happy with your contract. If he tears his acl that voluntary workout just cost him millions. Of course its nice to see everyone at otas and if he has a bad start this season we know where to put the blame but I cant fault him for protecting his future its the only move he had if that was his mindset.

Just pay the man outta respect that he took such a low balled deal and worked faithfully under it to begin with!!!! Dot’s always brought his lunch-pail with him!!
