Joe is sure there are other Bucs fans like this: there are dents on the wall behind Joe’s 60-inch HDTV from throwing the remote because last year’s gutless offensive line couldn’t block its own shadow.
Is anyone wondering why former left tackle Anthony Collins can’t find work?
Well, the stat geeks, bored on a Saturday, were at it again over at Pro Football Focus. Scott Kacsmar dug up figures that would make most any Bucs fan get thrown out of a mall store for cussing out loud.
Simply put, turnover-prone quarterback Josh McCown and quarterback of the future and quarterback of the past but not quarterback of the present Mike Glennon had no time to throw, as Kacsmar details on Twitter.
Most short (< 2.6 seconds) sacks allowed, 2014 1. Jaguars – 32 2. Buccaneers – 24 3. Dolphins – 23 For f’n shame, Florida.

Think about that. Count: “One thousand-and-one, one thousand-and-two” and you had to unload the ball or get pummeled. How the hell can any decent pass play develop in that short of time, play after play? It is appalling.
As gross as the offensive line was last year, even this year with potentially a rookie at left tackle and a Division-III guy at right guard, it probably couldn’t be worse than what the Bucs trotted out on Sundays in 2014.
It’s a wonder McCown hasn’t been to a shrink to be treated for PTSD.

Throw In an in incompetent coach to the mix. If joe Namath was the qb the numbers wouldn’t have been much better.
I’ll be surprised if Jameis puts up better rookie numbers then glennon.

Our line was an absolute horror last season… It seems there was a defender running free into the backfield on nearly every play… Plain and simple Lovie and Licht deconstructed an already below average line and somehow figured out how to make it worse… We should have kept Larson, Penn and Zuttah…
Let’s hope guys like Cousins and Gilkey don’t get a chance to see the field this year… If they do we are in big trouble…

Cousins got booted and Gilkey should have been too. However, I hope with our first choice of anyone cut through the third game, we should add some veterans as backups and Gilkey shouldn’t even make the 53 man roster. I think Smith will end up RG and either our 5th round Tackle from last year or our 2nd round pick this year should start at RT and the latter should also be the backup Center (and likely better than EDS) and we should keep our Veteran LT from the end of last year should stay there. If that is how it sorts out it should be a lot better line and we should have some decent backups.

I watched mcClown throw at least 3 balls with his face directly looking at the ground. The guy had one decent season and people think he is a valuable starter? Alls he had to do was throw the ball up and let those two big receivers go get it. Those two made him look good. Not the other way around. But yes, that line in Tampa last season was worse than terrible.

Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun…. I’m really starting to like “The Warthogs”. I think if the line turns it around. that might actually catch on! just thinkn’ out loud ….

Our O line will be much better, but dont think we’re done with it. Im sure we’ll be drafting O line again after selecting a DE next year. Look how Dallas built their O line. Thats how its done.

I was dead on with the Bucs first 3 picks, not who I thought the team would pick, but rather who I was hoping they’d select, so needless to say, I’m pumped to have Smith and Marpet on the Bucs OL! I also feel JW will rewrite some rookie records, he’s that good! Marpet is technically sound and has a big desire to dominate at his position , Smith has all the traits needed to make a solid LT, quick feet, long arms, very athletic and comes from a solid program in Penn State, something Marpet has to overcome (which he will). Mankins coming back with a full off season and seemingly havng that hungry disposition, i see him paying big dividens. Not a great line, but one with a ton more upside than last year’s keystone cops version.

Hey this line will be a lot better than it was last year just off coaching alone but the homegrown talent on the line is beginning to grow and look great as well. Edwards and Pamphile are making the most of all opportunity during OTA. I’m thinking that Marpet may win out over Edwards and the upward development of Pamphile continues then they will have to make a decision on Dotson because Evan Smith is a gone imho.

@Nole, Salute!!! SC resident here.
Been following them since 1997 when that D was starting to do some damage. And I really didnt start following football as close as I do now until the last 4-5 years. I guess watching us do so badly had me researching why and what we could do about it and I spent a lot of my spare time doing so….and its just a passion now. I love talking smack with the fans of other teams at work right now who keep thinking we’re going to stink this year too….I tell them, thats right, keep underestimating!!

Btw, I just bought a 60″ aquos a few weeks ago and LOVE it (LC60SQ15U)!! Cant imagine throwing anything in that bad boys direction. But I have broke quite a few remotes throwing them on the floor over the years.
…..and GO BOLTS!! Im glad its Chicago too. I used to follow thema while back because our echl team fed into their ahl farm team. It’ll be a great series.
