“Explosive” Development At One Buc Palace

Joe really enjoys the Tampa Bay Lightning but can’t bow to the hockey gods, not on this day, not on the first real day of significant practice on the heavenly fields of One Buc Palace.
Media was not allowed in, but Joe had covert drones flying overhead and operatives on the ground.
The most exciting word of the day came on the defensive side of the ball. That’s where former Pro Bowl defensive tackle Henry Melton clearly was “explosive” and impressed all who took in his work.
There’s some real juice to the enthusiasm for Melton, who battled injuries with Dallas last season and fizzled late in the year, but still had five sacks.
With the Bucs, Melton is slated to relieve Gerald McCoy, so GMC stays dangerously fresh. And Melton would serve as an emergency defensive end, a “swing” role he served with the Cowboys, too.
But if Melton, 28, keeps impressing and returns to his Pro Bowl form, then the Bucs could get awfully creative and unpredictable in using him and Gerald McCoy together.
Man, Joe is fired up — even if it is underwear football. And, yes, Jameis Winston, America’s Quarterback, had a good first day. OTA practices continue tomorrow and are open to media Thursday.

Awesome news!! He was INSANE at Chicago before his serious injury. Hopefully he stays healthy. Melton and McCoy would make are average DES look like studs. I’m excited! GO BUCS ITS BEEN TOO LONG

Henry’s definitely our best d lineman after McCoy, so if he can stay healthy and J Smith can keep up his performance from last year, I actually like our chances along the d line for once.

We are finally starting to build some solid depth for once… Next draft will help rebuild the defense and hopefully land us an elite pass rusher or two…

Of course the bucs are going to play both McCoy and Melton together sometimes. Was that really a surprise to anyone? He is a former pro bowler that can rush the passer from the inside. That is a valuable asset on passing downs in the tampa two. Think booger and sapp. Stop leaving these players in a box and start looking at the individual on how they can impact this team as a whole. The bucs have options. Its time to start using them properly.

Yeah, we look good at D Tackle. I am pulling for Spence and Gholston to really make strides this year as well. Shiano drafted them together, they should know what to do and not have to think too much on the field. 3rd year guys, 2nd year with Lovie. Hoping they come into their own. We need some Draft picks to work out from Shiano, Still have Tandy, Leonard Johnson who was undrafted (Ronde mentored his final season). Defensive Backs have fierce competition and I believe will be a good unit as well.

I love our DT depth…Im keeping my fingers crossed that George Johnson & Jock Smith can give us enough juice off the edge to put together a decent pass-rush…

God damnit RICH!!!!!! Just when I was feeling pretty good about most of these comments, you finish it up with that depressing “Not buying the hype this time” comment… Why it pisses me off so much is that, I ALSO buy the hype every year and get crapped on repeatedly… Yup, year after year. But you know what? This year feels very different and yes, here we go once again… I’m buying the HYPE.
So I’m a crazy fan who rides or dies with my team, and it’s been tough at times, ok most of the time but his year honestly feels different, from Mr. Winston, umm I mean “America’s Quarterback” sorry Joe, to having a REAL OC with what looks like a BEAST of an offense if AQ is kept upright (also possible top player waiver additions for the O-line or maybe even a RB)
On the Deffensive side, we now have players that know this system which is KEY with the Tampa 2 as most of us know… It’s also in its second year of development and should start to mesh. Depth city is better being built up as well… ***Please add more reasons for me to be EXCITED about our BUCS*** All & all, all signs point to excitement and hope, I just hope it’s more then hype.

ARGH M8E don’t allow pessimist like rich to kill your belief in what you clearly notice going on in the Bay. I mean anybody with eyes can clearly see that this squad is poised to make a lot of noise this season. 4Th easiest schedule,in a garbage arse division and people are talking about a measly 6wins please. Yes it’s been along time coming,but what’s unfair to the new regime is basing and opinion of despair on a group of people that had absolutely nothing to do with the many previous years of inept play. 2014 was all about acquiring the face of the program,job well done. Now that that is complete feel free to judge Lovie and is staff going forward. My belief is you’re gonna have a hard time being critical.

Im just as big of a Bucs fan as the next guy. But basing wins off of having the “4th” easiest schedule is silly. You’re saying that tampa can turn it around in one season but those other teams can’t? I absolutely love what they’ve done so far. But the reality is this. The offensive line better come together and play a lot better than what was on the field last season or none of this “hype” will matter. It doesn’t matter who you habe under center. You need to be able to block. And if that run game can’t get going then Tampa will become a 1 dimensional team. Can’t pass block? Well those big WR and ASJ are limited to what they could be as well. I’ll buy into the hype but some of you fail to forget that the offensive line was completely horrible last season and two of those starters aren’t getting any younger.
