Alterraun Verner Votes Winston
April 10th, 2015It’s a busy day for Joe’s partners at WDAE-AM 620, the Buccaneers’ flagship radio station. The “A-Train,” Mike Alstott, is hosting his foundation’s annual golf tournament, and the station is there live talking to loads of heavy hitters in attendance, including Alterraun Verner.
Speaking on air, Verner had no problem stating he thinks Jameis Winston should be the Bucs’ draft pick later this month, though he added, “I’m a strong Mike Glennon believer.” (Keep in mind Verner played in the Pac-12, Marcus Mariota country, and keeps tabs on his beloved UCLA.)
It’ll be interesting to see how many Bucs players take to social media — or traditional media — and state their preference for Tampa Bay’s No. 1 pick in the coming days.
Heck, Gerald McCoy was publicly supporting signing Greg Hardy, so it would be no surprise if his fellow players get caught up in draft fever.

I vote that Vern needs to worry about not getting burned like last season.

Also notice he didn’t try and prop up brett Hundley, who went to his school

i said it before and i’ll say it again:
If you start Winston day one, i won’t predict what our final record will be, but i will GUARANTEE that he has more wins in his one season than Glennon has had his entire Bucs career.

AV focus on your job…..like not letting Benjamin/Julio get behind you again and again. Funny how $$$ makes people think they are better than they really are….we overspent on AV IMO.

Everyone involved with the organization is excited to have a talent like Winston coming in at the most important position on the team.
Winston’s personality is exactly what this team needs. His skillset and and fiery, positive leadership gives legitimate hope that much better times are on the immediate horizon. A player like this brings dreams of Super Bowls back into the realm of reality if the GM and HC can surround him with adequate talent.
JabooWINS!!! And now the Bucs will start winning again.
20 days.

@MM-Army…What are you talking about? He was asked a question and stated his opinion. What did he say that makes you believe he thinks he’s better than he really is? Is coming to realization that the Bucs are taking Jamies affecting you psychologically?

@Celly
truer words have never been spoken, you sure know your football….it’s too bad that’s not obvious to everyone that it’s not that hard to draft one of these rookies and be better than a 5 win quarterback in half a season

Winstons attorney said that winston is not ready for the nfl, off the field.. Uh oh

The hilarious headlines continue!

Celly….please…..you cannot guarantee anything but your idiocy. Verner wants Winston so he can prop up his INT numbers in practice.

How many times have we heard that the ideal QB is an extension of his head coach on the field? Now which QB matches Lovie’s demeanor, a brash and arrogant gunslinger or a confident and humble surgeon? I think the match is obvious.
With that said, the Bucs will definitely be more interesting if they draft the 100% Juicy Juice player, so I’m quietly hoping that happens. But I believe Lovie and Koetter prefer MM. It will definitely be Must-Watch-TV on April 30.

The attorney, Cornwell also said “most if not all incoming rookies aren’t ready for what it means to be an NFL player off the field. That’s why we have the rookie symposium and other resources available in the NFL for rookies”

LOL. Far from idiot. My proof is in my name. Just click it.
I guess i must be an idiot, though. I didn’t know Verner’s contract numbers were tied to his practice interceptions. Thats nice to know.

Who cares what Verner wants, he needs to worry about his own play. All i care about is what is best for the team. And i believe that it would and should be Marcus Mariota. A true franchise Q.B. that any team would be proud of.
