Jameis Winston Speaks
April 1st, 2015Want to hear (and see) the unfiltered Jameis Winston, very likely the starting quarterback for your 2015 Tampa Bay Buccaneers, baby? Well, here it is.
Courtesy of Seminoles.com, below is the full video of Winston’s five-minute press conference just after his pro day Tuesday in Tallahassee. Unfiltered. Unedited.

Haters- just read winston had a higher completion percentage than luck and cam newton. Despite throwing twice as many passes and most of them being on the run. It is a stone cold lead pipe lock. Deal with it and check on eBay for jerseys. It’ll get you the lowest price. Enjoy the #5 jerseys that don’t say Freeman. I might get Creamsicle myself

I wasn’t a Bucs fan until they were in line for Winston. I’ve now joined the Pirate Ship. I don’t even care if it’s weird or shameful. Love the guy.

OK I can breathe a sigh of relief. Great interview. I was impressed by the fact that he thought about all the brotha’s who didn’t get his opportunity and he felt like he was representing for them.
It’s the first time I’ve seen him acknowledge the great opportunity he’s been given.
It’s fine to be aware of your abilities in life, the little train didn’t get to the top of the hill saying I think I can’t I think I can’t. Gotta believe.
OK Winstonites I’m sold on his talent and this interview goes a long way in calming my concerns about him personally.

Love the enthusiasm. Love the attitude. Bucs have been lacking a fiery leader since Sapp departed. The IT factor matters anyone who says otherwise never played team sports. Winston makes everyone on the team better and saves Lovie’s job which I’m not sure is a good thing.

You sound like an NBA fan. Let me guess….last year you were a Heat fan, this year you’re rooting for Cleveland.

StPeteBucsFan:
Guess this camera wasn’t rolling but when Winston first sat down, first thing he said was to help out the foundation that is trying to find a cure for the disease that Jimbo Fisher’s youngest son is afflicted with.
The first thing. Not about him, but to ask people to think of a sick little kid and how a foundation is trying to find a cure to help him and others. The first thing out of Winston’s mouth.

Sounds like the guy eats, breaths, and sleeps football. Gotta love that. He does sound a little on the immature side, but hey we all were (or still are for some people) at one point. I know he’s a damn good football player, so if he can stay clean off the field, the skies the limit for this guy.

Jaboo the Hut is a joke. If we pass on Mariota for this loser, we are monumentally stupid.
April 1st, 2015 at 3:20 pm
Literally cannot wait to see this guy in a Bucs Jersey throwing bombs to VJ and Mike Evans
(Salivates with anticipation)

Winston is everything you want in a QB, he really is. He will rally and motivate this team.
Come on down to Tampa Jameis! Lets get this franchise thinking like a winner.

Thanks for sharing that. I am curious to why more people are not mentioning these type of tid bits. Oh yeah, agendas are more important than facts these days.
nice job with off season coverage thank you for the entertainment.

@Erik pipe down will ya. The debate is over. Winston will be a Buc, u can go be fan of whatever team takes Mariota. To say picking Winston is stupid, is stupid itself. He can flat out play.

Eric—-it’s a done deal! Get on board or go buy your Jags jersey. You winston haters are converting… Good to see. Eric got left at the shot bus stop.

Now im.am as excited as anyone to draft winston. But beware fellow bucs fans. Dont get ur hopes to high winston is great but still a rookie. In my opinion getting him.adds 4 to 5 wins still not good enough for playoffs

Winston has done a great job with every “media” and “interview” situation – in showing the world that he is smart, charismatic and genuine. Never a canned answer. Usually an intelligent and appropriate answer off the top of his head.
He has managed to change a lot of false perceptions and negative pre-conceived notions about him over the past few weeks by “keeping it real”.
Even those who have not liked him in the past are being won over by Jameis’ personality and demeanor in these interviews and press conferences – and that’s no small feat considering the hatchet job that many media outlets had done on him over the last year.
Jameis tape speaks for itself. (Best QB coming out of College in quite some time aside from Luck). But it is perhaps his personality, his strong leadership skills and his will to win that have the Bucs giddy at the opportunity to draft this young man.
Win or Lose next year – I for one am really looking forward to having Buccaneer games be exciting and fun to watch again. Winston gives us all legitimate hope that much, much better times are ahead for this franchise.

I couldn’t agree more. It seems to be the case that many people assumed this was a weakness of Winstons, based on the national profile presented. The reality is, leadership is probably his strongest attribute.

I can’t wait to have a crab feast come the weekend of April 29th!

Looks like the pool of Wins-a-ton haters is drying up. Good to see. It speaks well of those who are willing to set aside their media entrained bias and see the true value of this future star. Welcome back true Buc fans. For those who refuse to see reality, we’ll see you next year with your new screen names.
April 1st, 2015 at 5:32 pm
I love this kid. Can’t wait to see him play in a Bucs uniform!!
April 1st, 2015 at 5:41 pm
@Joe
Thanks for pointing that out. I think they just started the cameras and his comment seemed out of context. We didn’t get to hear all of it so thanks for pointing it out and yes that does speak highly of Fameis.
April 1st, 2015 at 5:43 pm
Children, don’t get too excited. Did you read JoeBucsFan’s post today lowering the bar for Winston? Yep, that JBF who pushes Jameis on us like he’s the best QB since Elway?
April 1st, 2015 at 7:37 pm
Sold!
Draft this dude!
April 1st, 2015 at 8:23 pm
I will now make joyful noises from my sphincter.
April 1st, 2015 at 9:24 pm
I have to admit, I had major doubts but the kid has won me over. Looking forward to the future.
April 2nd, 2015 at 1:19 am
This maybe the first year since I have been a Bucs fan that they drafted the player I wanted. Damn I wanted Calvin Johnson and so many more who just weren’t there.
April 2nd, 2015 at 4:54 am
I must be the only Die hard bucs fan who isn’t remotely excited about the possibility of Jameis Winston becoming a Buc.
April 2nd, 2015 at 8:02 am
If drafting a QB who loves the game of football, is great with his teammates, has all the talent in the world, and is an elite competitor doesn’t excite you then apparently nothing will.
April 2nd, 2015 at 8:43 am
I love it “Bucc nation stand up”,the rise has begun.
April 2nd, 2015 at 10:25 am
I love how most of you think drafting one player is going to turn this franchise around. Better check yourselves.
April 2nd, 2015 at 11:44 am
@Daniel
His off the field problems he has had is what doesn’t excite me bro. I agree, the potential looks good, but he hasn’t earned any trust from me, nor should he from anyone else. Just because he’s been a good boy over the per draft stuff doesn’t give him a pass on what he has done. It’s about longevity.
April 2nd, 2015 at 12:38 pm
Draft this kid – signed, a lifelong gator fan
GO BUCS!
April 2nd, 2015 at 8:30 pm
I buy what he is selling. That was amazing! I need a cigarette after that pleasure cruise!
